To address this gap, we analyzed single-cell glycogene expressions in the Tabula Sapiens dataset of human tissues and cell types using a recent glycosylation-specific gene ontology (GlycoEnzOnto). At the median sequencing (count) depth, ~40-50 out of 400 glycogenes were detected in individual cells.

Traveling wave thermoacoustic refrigeration with variable phase-coordinated boundary conditions.

Thermoacoustic refrigerators exploit the thermodynamic interaction between oscillating gas particles and a porous solid to generate a temperature gradient that provides a cooling effect. In this work, we present a resonator with dual enclosed driver end-caps and show that the temperature gradient across a ceramic thermoacoustic element placed in the cavity could be controlled by modifying the phase difference of the drivers, thus enabling precise control of the refrigeration capability via the temperature difference. Through deltaec simulation results, the response of the temperature gradient to various dynamic boundary conditions that alter the time-phasing and wave dynamics in the resonator are demonstrated.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop 60-second epoch accelerometer intensity cutpoints for vertical axis count and vector magnitude (VM) output from hip-worn tri-axial accelerometers among women 60-91 years. We also compared these cutpoints against cutpoints derived by multiplying 15-second epoch cutpoints by four.

Methods: Two hundred apparently healthy women wore an ActiGraph GT3X+ accelerometer on their hip while performing a variety of laboratory-based activities that were sedentary (watching television, assembling a puzzle), low light (washing/drying dishes), high light (laundry, dust mopping), or MVPA (400-meter walk) intensity.

Background: This study aims to explore the perceived impact of Project TEACH (Training and Education for the Advancement of Children's Health), a New York State Office of Mental Health funded Child Psychiatric Access Program (CPAP), on pediatric Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and their practice. Practice change over time was assessed in the context of rising mental health needs and in the context of COVID19 pandemic.

Sex and Biology: Broader Impacts Beyond the Binary.

What are the implications of misunderstanding sex as a binary, and why is it essential for scientists to incorporate a more expansive view of biological sex in our teaching and research? This roundtable will include many of our symposium speakers, including biologists and intersex advocates, to discuss these topics and visibilize the link between ongoing reification of dyadic sex within scientific communities and the social, political, and medical oppression faced by queer, transgender, and especially intersex communities. As with the symposium as a whole, this conversation is designed to bring together empirical research and implementation of equity, inclusion, and justice principles, which are often siloed into separate rooms and conversations at academic conferences. Given the local and national attacks on the rights of intersex individuals and access to medical care and bodily autonomy, this interdisciplinary discussion is both timely and urgent.

Designing polymeric systems with ultra-high optical activity is instrumental in the pursuit of smart artificial chiroptical materials, including the fundamental understanding of structure/property relations. Herein, we report a diacetylene (DA) moiety flanked by chiral D- and L-FF dipeptide methyl esters that exhibits efficient topochemical photopolymerization in the solid phase to furnish polydiacetylene (PDA) with desired control over the chiroptical properties. The doping of the achiral gold nanoparticles provides plasmonic interaction with the PDAs to render asymmetric shape to the circular dichroism bands.

To use the open-source Monte Carlo (MC) software calculations for TPS monitor unit verification of VMAT plans, delivered with the Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, and compare the results with a commercial software product, following the guidelines set in AAPM Task Group 219. The TrueBeam is modeled in EGSnrc using the Varian-provided phase-space files. Thirteen VMAT TrueBeam treatment plans representing various anatomical regions were evaluated, comprising 37 treatment arcs.

3D hemodynamic distributions are useful for the diagnosis and treatment of aneurysms. Detailed blood-flow patterns and derived velocity maps can be obtained using 1000 fps High Speed Angiography (HSA). The novel orthogonal Simultaneous Biplane High-Speed Angiography (SB-HSA) system enables flow information to be quantified in multiple planes, and with additional components of flow at depth, accurate 3D flow distributions are available.

Quantitative angiography (QAngio) may provide hemodynamic information during neurointerventional procedures through imaging biomarkers related to contrast flow. The standard clinical implementation of QAngio is limited by projection imaging: analysis of contrast motion within complex 3D geometries is restricted to 1-2 projection views, truncating the potential wealth of imaging biomarkers related to disease progression or efficacy of treatment. To understand the limitations of 2D biomarkers, we propose the use of in-silico contrast distributions to investigate the potential benefits of 3D-QAngio within the context of neurovascular hemodynamics.

A multi-omics atlas of the human retina at single-cell resolution.

Cell classes in the human retina are highly heterogeneous with their abundance varying by several orders of magnitude. Here, we generated and integrated a multi-omics single-cell atlas of the adult human retina, including more than 250,000 nuclei for single-nuclei RNA-seq and 137,000 nuclei for single-nuclei ATAC-seq. Cross-species comparison of the retina atlas among human, monkey, mice, and chicken revealed relatively conserved and non-conserved types.
