Background: Radiotherapy resistance is an important reason for high mortality in lung cancer patients, but the mechanism is still unclear. Dysregulation of cell proliferation and death plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). In recent times, a novel form of cellular demise called disulfidptosis, has attracted increasing attention.

Measurement Variability of Same-Day CT Quantification of Interstitial Lung Disease: A Multicenter Prospective Study.

Purpose To investigate quantitative CT (QCT) measurement variability in interstitial lung disease (ILD) on the basis of two same-day CT scans. Materials and Methods Participants with ILD were enrolled in this multicenter prospective study between March and October 2022. Participants underwent two same-day CT scans at an interval of a few minutes.

Is serum-derived exosomal hTERT transcript a marker of oncogenic activity in primary brain tumors? An exploratory study.

Background: In order to proliferate indefinitely, all tumors require a telomere maintenance mechanism. The expression of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) enables telomere maintenance and provides cancer cells with limitless replicative potential. As such, it may serve as an attractive biomarker for oncogenic activity.

Interstitial Lung Abnormality in Asian Population.

Interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs) are radiologic abnormalities found incidentally on chest computed tomography (CT) that can be show a wide range of diseases, from subclinical lung fibrosis to early pulmonary fibrosis including definitive usual interstitial pneumonia. To clear up confusion about ILA, the Fleischner society published a position paper on the definition, clinical symptoms, increased mortality, radiologic progression, and management of ILAs based on several Western cohorts and articles. Recently, studies on long-term outcome, risk factors, and quantification of ILA to address the confusion have been published in Asia.

CT-based lung motion differences in patients with usual interstitial pneumonia and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia.

We applied quantitative CT image matching to assess the degree of motion in the idiopathic ILD such as usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP). Twenty-one normal subjects and 42 idiopathic ILD (31 UIP and 11 NSIP) patients were retrospectively included. Inspiratory and expiratory CT images, reviewed by two experienced radiologists, were used to compute displacement vectors at local lung regions matched by image registration.

Introduction: Anti-SARS-CoV-2 vaccine clinical trials did not include patients with immune-mediated conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease [IBD]. Recently, several molecular subtypes with different prognosis have been found in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). However, the characteristics of the ferroptosis molecular subtypes and the associated tumor microenvironment (TME) cell infiltration have not been fully studied in LUAD. Using 1160 lung adenocarcinoma samples, we explored the molecular subtypes mediated by ferroptosis-related genes, along with the associated TME cell infiltration.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a major subtype of lung cancer and closely associated with poor prognosis. N6-methyladenosine (m6A), one of the most predominant modifications in mRNAs, is found to participate in tumorigenesis. However, the potential function of m6A RNA methylation in the tumor immune microenvironment is still murky.

Spatial Distribution of Transcytosis Relevant Phospholipids in Response to Omega-3 Dietary Deprivation.

The cell membrane of brain endothelial cells is enriched in omega-3 phospholipid species. Numerous omega-3 phospholipid species were recently proposed to be important for maintaining the low rate of transcytosis and, thus, could be important for regulating one of the mechanisms of the blood brain barrier (BBB). However, the spatial distribution of these phospholipid species within the brain was previously unknown.

Correlation between prognostic indicator AHNAK2 and immune infiltrates in lung adenocarcinoma.

Background: Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is among the most aggressive malignant tumors in humans. Although AHNAK nucleoprotein 2 (AHNAK2) is considered a new oncogene, the function of the AHNAK2 in LUAD remains unknown.

Regenerated Traumatic Bone Cyst With Platelet-Rich Fibrin in the Mandible: A Case Report.

Introduction: Traumatic bone cyst is a pseudocyst which is characterized as an asymptomatic unilocular single lesion with an empty cavity without epithelial lining. Its etiology is still debated, it is more frequent among young people and it is often localized in the posterior mandible zone. A case report is described about diagnosis and conservative treatment of a traumatic bone cyst in anterior zone of lower mandible.

Quality of Care Standards in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: a European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation [ECCO] Position Paper.

The management of inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] is complex, and requires tight control of disease activity, close monitoring to avoid treatment side effects, health care professionals with expertise in IBD, and an interdisciplinary, holistic approach. Despite various efforts to standardise structures, processes, and outcomes,1-8 and due to the high variability at the local, national, and international levels, there are still no clear definitions or outcome measures available to establish quality of care standards for IBD patients which are applicable in all contexts and all countries. For this reason, the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation [ECCO] supported the construction of a list of criteria summarising current standards of care in IBD.

ECCO Guidelines on Therapeutics in Crohn's Disease: Surgical Treatment.

This article is the second in a series of two publications relating to the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation [ECCO] evidence-based consensus on the management of Crohn's disease. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease [IBD] increasingly use alternative and complementary therapies, for which appropriate evidence is often lacking. It is estimated that up to half of all patients with IBD use various forms of complementary and alternative medicine during some point in their disease course. Considering the frequent use of such therapies, it is crucial that physicians and patients are informed about their efficacy and safety in order to provide guidance and evidence-based advice.
