The predictive power of movement and electrodermal activity (EDA) synchrony has been demonstrated in various studies. Although most studies have examined each synchrony modality separately, a growing interest in the simultaneous investigation of multiple modalities has emerged. Previous research has demonstrated the importance of disentangling within and between-dyad effects, however within and between-therapist effects have yet to be investigated.

Biodiversity data records contain inaccuracies and biases. To overcome this limitation and establish robust geographic patterns, ecologists often curate records keeping those that are most suitable for their analyses. Yet, this choice is not straightforward and the outcome of the analysis may vary due to a trade-off between data quality and volume.

Background & Aims: The term "long lie" is often used when individuals who have fallen are unable to stand up on their own, so they have to lie unintentionally for a longer period of time until they are noticed and can be helped. Although long lie can lead to both short- and long-term physical and psychological effects, little is known about what describes the term. The aim of this review is to identify what characterizes the term.

Background: Although functional neurological movement disorders (FMD) are characterized by motor symptoms, sensory processing has also been shown to be disturbed. However, how the integration of perception and motor processes, essential for the control of goal-directed behavior, is altered in patients with FMD is less clear. A detailed investigation of these processes is crucial to foster a better understanding of the pathophysiology of FMD and can systematically be achieved in the framework of the theory of event coding (TEC).

We studied the songs and morphology of the stridulatory file of across its complete geographic range, in order to test our hypothesis that the male calling song of the species shows strong differentiation between the northern (Pannonian) and southern (Balkan) parts of its distribution range, reflecting its disjunct distribution. Our analyses confirm this hypothesis, separating analyzed specimens of into two main groups - one present in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula (representing ), with the second group occurring in the Pannonian Basin, Dinarides, Slovenia and NE Italy. The most reliable difference between the groups is the duration of the main syllable, the number of stridulatory teeth and number of pulses in the main syllable, where all values are higher in specimens from the Balkan Peninsula.

Non-forest ecosystems, dominated by shrubs, grasses and herbaceous plants, provide ecosystem services including carbon sequestration and forage for grazing, and are highly sensitive to climatic changes. Yet these ecosystems are poorly represented in remotely sensed biomass products and are undersampled by in situ monitoring. Current global change threats emphasize the need for new tools to capture biomass change in non-forest ecosystems at appropriate scales.

Self-criticism is a stable personality trait identified as a serious risk factor for psychopathology and weight-related health problems. Therefore, it is relevant to epidemiological research, which requires a relatively brief instrument for measuring trait self-criticism in the general population. The current study introduces a brief measure of self-criticism and presents empirical results that inform on its reliability and validity.

Methods and Results INTERMACS (Interagency Registry for Mechanically Assisted Circulatory Support) data (2006-2017) from 6771 men and 1690 women with left ventricular assist devices as destination therapy were analyzed to evaluate the contribution of preimplant clinical, demographic, and clinically judged psychosocial characteristics to time until death, heart transplant, device explant due to recovery, or complication-related device replacement. Associations of sex with time until each competing outcome were evaluated using cumulative incidence functions and event-specific Cox proportional hazards models.

Background: An infodemic is an overflow of information of varying quality that surges across digital and physical environments during an acute public health event. It leads to confusion, risk-taking, and behaviors that can harm health and lead to erosion of trust in health authorities and public health responses. Owing to the global scale and high stakes of the health emergency, responding to the infodemic related to the pandemic is particularly urgent.

: Studies with heterogeneous samples in naturalistic treatment settings suggest that movement synchrony (MS) between therapists and patients correlates with therapeutic success. In this study, we examined a homogeneous sample of patients with social anxiety disorder and investigated whether MS in sessions 3 and 8 would be associated with therapy outcome and therapeutic alliance, and whether these associations depend on the therapeutic approach. : The patients ( = 267) were treated with either manual-guided cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), manual-guided psychodynamic therapy (PDT), or naturalistic CBT.

To improve the prediction of the possible allergenicity of chemicals in contact with the skin, investigations of upstream events are required to better understand the molecular mechanisms involved in the initiation of allergic reactions. Ascaridole, one of the compounds responsible for skin sensitization to aged tea tree oil, degrades into intermediates that evolve via different mechanisms involving radical species. We aimed at broadening the knowledge about the contribution of radical intermediates derived from ascaridole to the skin sensitization process by assessing the reactivity profile towards amino acids, identifying whether free radicals are formed in a reconstructed human epidermis (RHE) model and their biological properties to activate the immune system, namely dendritic cells in their natural context of human HaCaT keratinocytes and RHE.

Respiratory sensitization as a consequence of exposure to chemical products has increased over the last decades, leading to an increase of morbidity. The increased use of synthetic compounds resulted in an exponential growth of substances to which we are potentially exposed on a daily basis. Some of them are known to induce respiratory sensitization, meaning that they can trigger the development of allergies.

Background: During the last 250 years, the level of exposure to combustion-derived particles raised dramatically in western countries, leading to increased particle loads in the ambient air. Among the environmental particles, diesel exhaust particulate matter (DEPM) plays a special role because of its omnipresence and reported effects on human health. During recent years, a possible link between air pollution and the progression of atherosclerosis is recognized.

In vitro approaches to address key steps of chemical-induced skin sensitization have been developed, but there is uncertainty how keratinocytes, which play a crucial role not only regarding xenobiotic metabolism but also skin inflammation, impact on a chemical's potential and potency to activate dendritic cells. We investigated these aspects by coculturing THP-1 cells, as surrogate dendritic cells, with HaCaT keratinocytes. We tested our HaCaT/THP-1 model with a set of 14 sensitizers, containing 7 prohaptens, and 10 non-sensitizers.

Water research is introduced from the combined perspectives of natural and social science and cases of citizen and stakeholder coproduction of knowledge. Using the overarching notion of transdisciplinarity, we examine how interdisciplinary and participatory water research has taken place and could be developed further. It becomes apparent that water knowledge is produced widely within society, across certified disciplinary experts and noncertified expert stakeholders and citizens.
