Case Presentation: A 30-year-old female patient who fell into the water when a PWC suddenly accelerated and injured her perineum with a forceful water jet was transported to our hospital.

Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the association of psychological and chronobiological factors with the presence and severity of chronic insomnia by symptom subtypes and their impacts on daytime dysfunctions.

Methods: Participants of the present web-based epidemiological study were classified as follows: difficulty initiating sleep (DIS) ( = 91); difficulty maintaining sleep (DMS) ( = 13); early morning awakening (EMA) ( = 48); DIS + DMS ( = 67); DIS + EMA ( = 23); DMS + EMA ( = 24); triplet of DIS, DMS, and EMA symptoms (TRP) ( = 69); and normal sleepers ( = 4590). The Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), Munich Chronotype Questionnaire (MCTQ), insomnia-related psychological measures (including the Ford Insomnia Response to Stress Test [FIRST] and the Dysfunctional Beliefs and Attitudes about Sleep Scale [DBAS]), and the cognitive and somatic domains of the Pre-Sleep Arousal Scale (PSAS) were evaluated.

Aim: While moderate smartphone use contributes to information gathering and relationship building, excessive smartphone use, also referred to as problematic smartphone use (PSU), has raised concerns because of its addictive nature and associated health consequences. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between treatment readiness and prognosis in individuals with PSU and to assess the predictive ability of smartphone log data in evaluating treatment readiness.

Methods: A sample of 47 patients with PSU participated in this study.

Background: We present a case report on the efficacy of the short-term application of vortioxetine in managing winter depression in patients with seasonal bipolar disorder (BP). Standard treatment strategies for BP may not adequately address seasonal depressive symptoms during winter in patients with seasonal BP patterns. Depressive symptoms during winter may be linked to seasonal changes in serotonin transporter binding, such as a decrease in synaptic serotonin levels, necessitating alternative approaches.

Methods: An observational cross-sectional study was carried out from January 2014 to August 2014 on 853 adults.

Background: Given the need for a simple tool to evaluate mental healthcare provision at the local level, we compared the duration of untreated mental illness (DUM) and duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) between rural and urban areas in Cambodia, and Cambodia's DUP was also compared with that of other countries.

Methods: DUM and background data were obtained at the first consultation from 940 participants in Phnom Penh (PP), the capital city, and Siem Reap province (SR) in 2016-2017. DUP data were obtained from DUM by excluding individuals with nonpsychotic mental illnesses (e.

Aim: Hyperthymic temperament is a cheerful action orientation that is suggested to have a protective effect on depressive symptoms. We recently reported that hyperthymic temperament can positively predict activation of reward-related brain areas in anticipation of monetary rewards, which could serve as a biomarker of hyperthymic temperament. However, the relationship between hyperthymic temperament and neural responsiveness to nonmonetary rewards (i.

Aim: Clinicians face difficulties in making treatment decisions for unspecified anxiety disorder due to the absence of any treatment guidelines. The objective of this study was to investigate how familiar and how often primary care physicians use pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to manage the disorder.

Methods: A survey was conducted among 117 primary care physicians in Japan who were asked to assess the familiarity of using each treatment option for unspecified anxiety disorder on a binary response scale (0 = "unfamiliar," 1 = "familiar") and the frequency on a nine-point Likert scale (1 = "never used," 9 = "frequently used").

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided pancreatic duct drainage includes two procedures: EUS-guided drainage/anastomosis (EUS-D/A) and trans-papillary drainage with EUS-assisted pancreatic rendezvous. EUS-guided pancreatogastrostomy is the most common EUS-D/A procedure and is recommended as a salvage procedure in cases in which endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography fails or is difficult. However, initial EUS-D/A is performed in patients with surgically altered anatomy at our institution.
