Advanced all-solid-state batteries are considered as the most preferable power source for the next generation devices. Such batteries demand consumption of electrode materials with high energy and power density. One of the excellent solutions is the utilization of Li metal as anode which provides opportunity to fulfill such requirements.

Here, we report a case of succinate dehydrogenase B-deficient paraganglioma, which has a high risk of metastasis and recurrence, complicated by succinate dehydrogenase-deficient renal cell carcinoma, which is rare and accounts for approximately 0.1% of all renal cell carcinomas.

Recent guidelines for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) recommend prehospital administration of aspirin and nitroglycerin for ACS patients. However, there is no clear evidence to support this. We investigated the benefits and harms of prehospital administration of aspirin and nitroglycerin by non-physician healthcare professionals in patients with suspected ACS.

The high sensitivity of this region to climate change has motivated geologists to examine marine sedimentary records for evidence of past episodes of West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) instability. Sediments accumulating in the Scotia Sea are useful to examine for this purpose because they receive iceberg-rafted debris (IBRD) sourced from the Pacific- and Atlantic-facing sectors of West Antarctica.

This meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate treatment outcomes of necrotizing pancreatitis according to the cut-off defined in the revised Atlanta classification (≤4 vs. >4 weeks).

We thus aimed to develop a non-invasive behavioral test that targets early potential cognitive changes to gauge cognitive decline. Specifically, we hypothesized that older cognitive healthy participants would exhibit comparable performance when the task was explicit and relied on conscious cognition.

In recent years, the concept of YCs has been expanding in Japan, and the government has been rapidly implementing strategies to support them. There is a need for a survey scale for YCs that uses standardized methods that can be compared internationally.

We investigated the impact of prehospital activation of the catheterization laboratory in the management of STEMI patients. This is a systematic review of observational studies.

Therapeutic Strategy for Severe Heart Failure, Tokyo Women's Medical University Graduate School of Medicine Tokyo Japan.
For elderly patients with refractory heart failure (HF), destination therapy (DT) with a continuous-flow left ventricular assist device (LVAD) is a possible treatment. The aim of DT is for long-term, satisfying quality of life on LVAD support. Previously, elderly non-responders to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) were primarily destined for palliative care, but DT has been available in Japan since April 30, 2021.

While management does not require aggressive treatment, follow-up is necessary to monitor for multiple myeloma and malignant lymphoma.

Our recent study showed that volumetric alterations in gray matter in the brain regions within the dorsal attention network (DAN) were strongly related to the risk of unsafe driving in healthy older people. However, the relationship between white matter (WM) structural connectivity and driving ability in healthy older people is still unclear.

Methods: Data were collected for 449 recipients aged ≥18 years who underwent DDLT between 1999 and 2019. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression analysis was utilized to develop an original risk score model for 1-year graft loss (termed the Japan Risk Index [JRI]).

Aim: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has led to an increase in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) and mortality. However, there has been no reports in Japan using nationwide registry data. We compared survival among patients with OHCAs and detailed information on the cause during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020), and during the pre-pandemic period (2019).

Although reductions in hospitalizations for myocardial infarction and heart failure have been reported during the period of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, it is unclear how the overall number of hospitalizations for cardiovascular disease (CVD) treatment changed in the early stages of the pandemic. We analyzed the records of 574 certified hospitals affiliated with the Japanese Circulation Society and retrieved data from April 2015 to March 2020. Records were obtained from the nationwide Japanese Registry of All Cardiac and Vascular Diseases-Diagnosis Procedure Combination database.

In Japan, oxygen is commonly administered during the acute phase of myocardial infarction (MI) to patients without oxygen saturation monitoring. In this study we assessed the effects of supplemental oxygen therapy, compared with ambient air, on mortality and cardiac events by synthesizing evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of patients with suspected or confirmed acute MI. PubMed was systematically searched for full-text RCTs published in English before June 21, 2020.

Recurrence is one of the major issues in bladder cancer (BCa). Novel technologies, such as the detection of microRNAs carried by extracellular vesicles (EVs) in urine, have been proposed as biomarkers for detecting recurrence in BCa. Although the usefulness of microRNAs in body fluids from cancer patients has been reported, it is also known that they play essential roles in cancer progression.

This study investigated the usefulness of magnifying endoscopy with narrowband imaging using the Japan Esophageal Society (JES) classification for predicting the depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis (LNM) in pharyngeal cancer.
Methods: A total of 123 superficial pharyngeal carcinoma lesions that had been observed preoperatively with magnifying endoscopy with narrowband imaging between January 2014 and June 2021 were analyzed.

Dynamic digital radiography (DDR) is a motion-detecting technique with high temporal resolution. Flexible laryngoscopy is a common modality for the observation of the larynx; however, it generates aerosol. DDR is an easy and less risky screening test for the diagnosis of recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Current national or international guidelines were collected worldwide and recommendations were classified according to the quality of evidence and were finalized through a modified Delphi method. The minimum elements consist of seven categories: [1] Extraction of high-risk patients of GC before esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), [2] Patients who need surveillance of GC, [3] Method to ensure quality of EGD for detection of GC, [4] Individual GC risk assessment by EGD, [5] Extraction of high-risk patients of GC after EGD [6] Qualitative or differential diagnosis of GC by EGD, and [7] Endoscopic assessment to choose the therapeutic strategy for GC.
