The purpose of this work was to assess the potential of 2T2D COS PLS-DA (two-trace two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy and partial least squares discriminant analysis) in conjunction with Visible Near infrared multispectral imaging (MSI) as a quick, non-destructive, and precise technique for classifying three beef muscles -Longissimus thoracis, Semimembranosus, and Biceps femoris- obtained from three breeds - the Blonde d'Aquitaine, Limousine, and Aberdeen Angus. The experiment was performed on 240 muscle samples. Before performing PLS-DA, spectra were extracted from MSI images and processed by SNV (Standard Normal Variate), MSC (Multivariate Scattering Correction) or AREA (area under curve equal 1) and converted in synchronous and asynchronous 2T2D COS maps.

Iron pyrite is a cheap, stable, non-toxic, and earth-abundant material that has great potential in the field of photovoltaics. Electrochemical deposition is a low-cost method, which is also suitable for large-scale preparation of iron pyrite solar cells. In this work, we prepared iron pyrite films by electrochemical deposition with thiourea and explored the effect of sulfurization on the synthesis of high-quality iron pyrite films.

Among developed countries, bovine milk production makes a major contribution towards the economy. Elevating consumer demand for functional foods has triggered a niche for non-bovine milk-based products. Mixing milks from different species can be a strategy to increase the consumption of non-bovine milk and enable consumers and dairy companies to benefit from their nutritional and technological advantages.

Article Synopsis
  • The yield and quality of cheese depend on various factors, including the composition and properties of the milk used as well as the processing technology applied.
  • This review examines research on cheeses made from combining different types of milk, highlighting how these mixtures affect various characteristics like taste, texture, and microbial content.
  • The focus is specifically on studies that compare cheeses made from blended milk species to those made from a single milk species.

The spectral dependence of the irreversible non-photochemical fluorescence quenching associated with photoinhibition in vitro has been comparatively investigated in thylakoid membranes, PSII enriched particles and PSII core complexes isolated from spinach. The analysis of the fluorescence emission spectra of dark-adapted and quenched samples as a function of the detection temperature in the 280-80K interval, indicates that Chlorophyll spectral forms having maximal emission in the 700-702nm and 705-710nm ranges gain relative intensity in concomitance with the establishment of irreversible light-induced quenching, acting thereby as spectroscopic markers. The relative enhancement of the 700-702nm and 705-710nm forms emission could be due either to an increase of their stoichiometric abundance or to their intrinsically low fluorescence quantum yields.

The pleural interneuron PlB is a white neuron in the pleural ganglion of the snail Lymnaea. We test the hypothesis that it inhibits neurons at all levels of the feeding system, using a combination of anatomy, physiology and pharmacology. There is just one PlB in each pleural ganglion.

On some characteristic properties of ATR liquid light conductors.

Spectrochim Acta A Mol Biomol Spectrosc

July 2003

Chemical Faculty, Laboratory of Spectrochemistry, St. Petersburg State University, University Str. 2, St. Petersburg 198904, Russia.

Electronic spectra of aqueous solutions of the malachite green dye have been measured by liquid and solid spectroscopy. Particular characteristics of the light conductor itself have been shown to have no considerable effect on the results of the experiment.
