The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness of low-level laser irradiation to traditional topical fluoride treatment for treatment choices of dentinal hypersensitivity following scaling and root planing. The experimental group (15 patients) was treated with low-energy-level diode laser at each site of dentinal hypersensitivity following scaling and root planning. The control group (15 patients) received topical fluoride treatment (protective varnish for desensitization).

Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is the most common preventable cause of mental retardation. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to the prevention of severe intellectual deficit. Neonatal screening in a blood spot from the heel of the newborn between the 2nd and 5th day after birth and determination of thyroid stimulation hormone (TSH) level by fluoroimmunoassay (DELFIA method) is the commonly used approach for the timely detection and therapy of congenital hypothyroidism.

Methods: The daily number of deaths from all causes, during the period 1996-2000, as well as those deaths from cardiovascular diseases, occurring within the city of Skopje were related to the average daily temperature on the same day using Multiple Regression statistical analyses.
