The use of natural resources and the enhancing of technologies are outlining the strategies of modern scientific-technological research for sustainable health products manufacturing. In this context, the novel simil-microfluidic technology, a mild production methodology, is exploited to produce liposomal curcumin as potential powerful dosage system for cancer therapies and for nutraceutical purposes. Through simil-microfluidic technology, based on interdiffusion phenomena of a lipid-ethanol phase in an aqueous flow, massive productions of liposomes at nanometric scale can be obtained.

The research of primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS) has not been able to capitalize on recent progresses in advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) protocols. The presented cross-sectional study evaluated the utility of four different MRI relaxation metrics and diffusion-weighted imaging in PPMS. Conventional free precession T1 and T2, and rotating frame adiabatic T1ρ and T2ρ in combination with diffusion-weighted parameters were acquired in 13 PPMS patients and 13 age- and sex-matched controls.

The Second-order Closure Integrated Puff (SCIPUFF) model was used to study the impact on urban air quality caused by two cement plants emissions located near the city of Caserta, Italy, during the entire year of 2015. The simulated and observed PM10 concentrations were compared using three monitoring stations located in urban and sub-urban area of Caserta city. Both simulated and observed concentrations are shown to be highest in winter, lower in autumn and spring and lowest in summer.

The identification of the source of a specific soil sample is a crucial step in forensic investigations. Rapid advances in next generation sequencing (NGS) technology and the strong reduction of the cost of sequencing have recently opened new perspectives.
