Background: Dual disorders (DDs) involve the coexistence of a substance use disorder (SUD) with another mental illness, often from the psychotic and affective categories. They are quite common in clinical practice and present significant challenges for both diagnosis and treatment. This study explores the effectiveness of brexpiprazole, a third-generation antipsychotic, in an Italian sample of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia spectrum disorder and a comorbid SUD.

Efficacy and safety of a combined pharmacological and surgical approach in patients affected by hidradenitis suppurativa: data from a retrospective real-world clinical study.

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a debilitating chronic skin disease; its therapeutic approach often requires combined medical and surgical treatment.

Methods: The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy and safety of the surgical approach combined with different pharmacological treatments, evaluating the proportion of patients achieving the hidradenitis suppurativa clinical response (HiSCR), along with the incidence of postoperative complications, and local recurrence. A retrospective study of HS patients (Hurley I-III) presenting at least one skin lesion requiring surgery was performed.

Musculoskeletal pain is a common symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD) that is not adequately treated with current dopaminergic drugs. This pilot study sought to investigate the effect of focal muscle vibration (fMV) on a group of Parkinson's disease patients suffering from chronic cervical pain. In addition to conventional physiotherapy, twenty-two patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (Hoehn and Yahr stages II-III) received three weeks of bilateral focal musclevibration to the trapezius muscles.

Aim: This guideline (GL) is aimed at providing a clinical practice reference for the management of adult patients with overweight or obesity associated with metabolic complications who are resistant to lifestyle modification.

Methods: Surgeons, endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, psychologists, pharmacologists, a general practitioner, a nutritionist, a nurse and a patients' representative acted as multi-disciplinary panel. This GL has been developed following the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach.

Objective: The aim of this cost-effectiveness analysis was to estimate the monetary cost required to achieve a gain in health benefit. Megaprostheses are well-known, reliable, and effective reconstruction prostheses used in oncologic surgery for limb salvage in patients affected by primary or metastatic bone tumors. Rehabilitation plays a major role after MUTARS replacement, with the aim of improving function after surgery and maintaining the highest possible quality of life. Only a few studies have been published about the use of megaprostheses for the upper limb.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to analyze real-life data from a cohort of adult patients receiving atezolizumab in combination with carboplatin and etoposide for first-line treatment of ES-SCLC, in order to assess relative dose intensity (RDI), time-to-treatment discontinuation (TTD), time-to-treatment failure (TTF), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) of treatments as well as the correlation between these outcomes.

Methods: An observational retrospective study was conducted. All patients treated with atezolizumab combined with carboplatin and etoposide for first-line treatment of ES-SCLC were included.

Prevalence of burnout and psycho-emotional disorders among non-health workers: a single tertiary care pediatric oncology center experience.

Background: According to scientific literature, burnout can be described as a multidimensional syndrome with three fundamental dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment. Every day, clown-doctors, play therapists, teachers and volunteers, such as ceramic art therapists, work in pediatric cancer wards to improve the quality of life of hospitalized children and activate positive resources during their therapeutic journey.

Conservative non-pharmacological treatments for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathies in women treated for breast cancer: a systematic review.

Introduction: Over the last few decades, the use of neo/adjuvant therapies has significantly increased the number of breast cancer survivors who experience chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). To date, few, low-efficacy, pharmacological remedies exist to manage this side effect. For this reason, alternative treatments are increasingly being investigated as possible strategies to prevent or promote faster recovery from CIPN.

Data Sources: We electronically searched PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science up to September 2023, using combinations of the search terms: "birth weight"; "birth-weight"; "birthweight"; "trend". There were no restrictions based on language or geographic area.

Digital exoscope versus surgical microscope in spinal dural arteriovenous fistula surgery: a comparative series.

Objective: Surgical treatment of spinal dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) has been reported to be superior to endovascular treatment in terms of occlusion of the fistula. Despite the increased availability of digital 3D exoscopes, the potential benefits of using an exoscope in spinal DAVF surgery have not been studied. The purpose of this study was to report and compare the results of exoscope- and microscope-assisted surgery for spinal DAVFs.
