Background: Neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) are routinely used in anesthesia practice. An undetected, incomplete recovery of neuromuscular function at the end of surgery potentially exposes patients to clinical deterioration in the postoperative period. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of postoperative residual neuromuscular blockade (RNMB) in a cohort of patients receiving NMBAs.

Background: The American Urologic Association (AUA) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines endorse percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for symptomatic stones larger than 20 mm despite significant risks such as bleeding and urosepsis. Robotic pyelolithotomy (RPL) is emerging as an appealing alternative to PCNL, particularly for patients with anatomical variations like pelvic or horseshoe kidneys, malrotation, previous unsuccessful PCNL, and congenital renal anomalies such as ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO).
Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted involving patients from Miulli Hospital and A.

Background: Aspirin has proved its efficacy in reducing the rate of preeclampsia in singleton pregnancy, however, there is discrepancy about the efficient dosage that should be used. While some societies recommend daily 75-81mg, others recommend higher dosage (160mg). This discrepancy is due to the lack of randomized controlled studies that compare these two dosages.

Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) is a major cause of global morbidity and mortality, progressing from steatosis to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. While liver biopsy remains the gold standard for identifying liver disease, non-invasive methods like shear wave dispersion (SWD) elastography offer promising alternatives. This scoping review evaluates SWD's potential in the study of ALD, comparing it to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

This study systematically reviews the efficacy and safety of combining transarterial embolization (TAE) with radiotherapy (RT) for managing bone metastases (BM), assessing clinical response (CR), and local control (LC). A literature search using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Medline Plus, and the Cochrane Library identified three relevant studies with 74 patients and 103 BM. One study included local chemotherapy infusion with TAE.

Background: Prompt reperfusion is critical for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to improve outcomes. Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

Introduction: Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by different pathomechanisms, clinical presentations, and prognoses. Treatment is often challenging because of limited approved drugs, and severe CHE is associated with reduced quality of life (QoL) and poor overall health measures in terms of psychological, functional, and occupational challenges. This study aims to describe the real-life management practices of Italian dermatologists who frequently treat patients with CHE, compare these practices with existing guidelines, and propose practical clinical recommendations for the management of these patients.

The role of brain metastases (BM) surgery is of paramount importance for patients' progression-free and overall survival. "En-bloc" and "piecemeal" resection represent the main surgical techniques. Although en-bloc resection remains the best surgical option, it is not widely adopted or feasible as the first choice.

Background: Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia represent global health issues, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum. The present paper aims to summarize the appropriate management of these conditions in order to try to improve how clinicians perceive, diagnose and treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.
Methods: An expert panel of Italian obstetricians of Lazio region was convened to evaluate the available literature on iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy and the post-partum in order to try to define a flow chart on the appropriate management of such conditions; aspects related to the patient blood management have also been investigated.
