Background: Aspirin has proved its efficacy in reducing the rate of preeclampsia in singleton pregnancy, however, there is discrepancy about the efficient dosage that should be used. While some societies recommend daily 75-81mg, others recommend higher dosage (160mg). This discrepancy is due to the lack of randomized controlled studies that compare these two dosages.

Alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) is a major cause of global morbidity and mortality, progressing from steatosis to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. While liver biopsy remains the gold standard for identifying liver disease, non-invasive methods like shear wave dispersion (SWD) elastography offer promising alternatives. This scoping review evaluates SWD's potential in the study of ALD, comparing it to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

This study systematically reviews the efficacy and safety of combining transarterial embolization (TAE) with radiotherapy (RT) for managing bone metastases (BM), assessing clinical response (CR), and local control (LC). A literature search using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Medline Plus, and the Cochrane Library identified three relevant studies with 74 patients and 103 BM. One study included local chemotherapy infusion with TAE.

Background: Prompt reperfusion is critical for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to improve outcomes. Yet, variability in regional healthcare delivery may influence treatment times and patient outcomes. We thus aimed at evaluating differences in management and outcomes of STEMI patients across Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, focusing on time-dependent reperfusion and in-hospital logistics.

Introduction: Chronic hand eczema (CHE) is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by different pathomechanisms, clinical presentations, and prognoses. Treatment is often challenging because of limited approved drugs, and severe CHE is associated with reduced quality of life (QoL) and poor overall health measures in terms of psychological, functional, and occupational challenges. This study aims to describe the real-life management practices of Italian dermatologists who frequently treat patients with CHE, compare these practices with existing guidelines, and propose practical clinical recommendations for the management of these patients.

: Division of the pulmonary ligament is standard in lower lobectomies, but its application in upper lobectomies remains controversial due to potential complications like atelectasis and bronchial kinking. This retrospective matched cohort study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of ligament resection in upper lobectomies for oncological purposes. : From January 2015 to December 2020, 988 patients who underwent minimally invasive upper lobectomies across multiple centers were identified.

The role of brain metastases (BM) surgery is of paramount importance for patients' progression-free and overall survival. "En-bloc" and "piecemeal" resection represent the main surgical techniques. Although en-bloc resection remains the best surgical option, it is not widely adopted or feasible as the first choice.

Background: Iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia represent global health issues, particularly during pregnancy and the postpartum. The present paper aims to summarize the appropriate management of these conditions in order to try to improve how clinicians perceive, diagnose and treat iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia.
Methods: An expert panel of Italian obstetricians of Lazio region was convened to evaluate the available literature on iron deficiency and iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy and the post-partum in order to try to define a flow chart on the appropriate management of such conditions; aspects related to the patient blood management have also been investigated.

Subarachnoid-pleural fistula (SPF), a rare complication following transthoracic spinal surgery, results in the accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the pleural space. Hindered spontaneous closure, attributed to negative pleural pressure, gives rise to CSF hypotension and subdural blood collections. Despite numerous reported cases, achieving consensus on management remains elusive.

Background: It is known that the subcutaneous (SC) route administration of biologic drugs has several potential benefits for patient and the healthcare system. Since few real-world data are available yet about the rate of transition from intravenous (IV) to SC Vedolizumab (VDZ) in the Italian population, we assessed this rate in a large cohort of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients under remission receiving IV VDZ as standard of care in a real-world setting.
Methods: Searching who was asked to switch from IV VDZ To SC VDZ, and assessing the rate of acceptance.

Obesity rates have significantly increased globally, affecting up to 40% of women of childbearing age in the United States. While prenatal repair of open fetal spina bifida has shown improved outcomes, most fetal surgery centers exclude patients with a body mass index (BMI) ≥ 35 kg/m based on criteria from the Management of Myelomeningocele Study (MOMS) trial. This exclusion raises concerns about healthcare equity and highlights a significant knowledge gap regarding the safety and efficacy of fetal spina bifida repair in patients with obesity.
