The ocean remains a reservoir of unknown biodiversity, particularly in the deep sea. Chemosynthesis-based ecosystems, such as hydrothermal vents and hydrocarbon seeps, host unique and diverse life forms that continue to be discovered and described. The present study focuses on patelliform gastropods (limpets) collected from Pacific Costa Rica Margin hydrocarbon seeps during three research cruises from 2017 to 2019.

Integrating SDoH into emergency medicine care is vital for promptly addressing health concerns and averting future crises. This curriculum adopts a team-based approach to train emergency medicine residents in identifying and addressing SDoH, thereby delivering comprehensive and equitable care.

We aimed to identify novel solutions to this by adapting video-assisted debriefing (VAD) methodologies used in athletic training.

Trends in GIC and of social determinants of health factors contributing to GIC are poorly understood.
Methods And Results: This retrospective cohort study included patients with CHD, aged 0 to 34 years, who underwent surgery between January 2003 and May 2020, followed up at a pediatric subspeciality hospital.

Vascular calcification is a pathological stage involved in the occurrence and development of cardiovascular diseases, seriously threatening human life and health. At present, few drugs can completely reverse or cure vascular calcification in clinical practice. The pathogenesis of vascular calcification mainly involves the disturbance of calcium and phosphorus homeostasis, autophagy dysfunction, loss of endogenous calcium inhibition, and the apoptosis, cytokine storm, cell osteoblastic transdifferentiation, and stromal vesicle release induced by endoplasmic reticulum stress.

This analysis assessed the impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) on intervention benefits.
Methods And Results: Of 349 enrolled patients hospitalized for acute decompensated heart failure (mean age 72.
Objective: While most patients with COVID-19-induced olfactory dysfunction (OD) recover spontaneously, those with persistent OD face significant physical and psychological sequelae. ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence chatbot, has grown as a tool for patient education. This study seeks to evaluate the quality of ChatGPT-generated responses for COVID-19 OD.

Background: Despite oral anticoagulation, patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) remain at risk of ischemic stroke and systemic embolism (SE) events. For patients whose residual risk is sufficiently high, additional therapies might be useful to mitigate stroke risk.
Methods And Results: Individual patient data from 5 landmark trials testing oral anticoagulation in AF were pooled in A Collaboration Between Multiple Institutions to Better Investigate Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant Use in AF (COMBINE AF).
Urological malignancy (UM) is among the leading threats to health care worldwide. Recent years have seen much investment in fundamental UM research, including mechanistic investigation, early diagnosis, immunotherapy, and nanomedicine. However, the results are not fully satisfactory.

We reported a case of takotsubo cardiomyopathy secondary to influenza A infection with multiple organ failure, showing the shark fin sign and resulting in in-patient mortality and various complication.

Background: African American women bear a disproportionate burden of cardiovascular diseases, potentially due to altered central hemodynamics. Racism and sexism often lead to African American women taking on numerous caretaking roles and overall increases their use of the Strong Black Woman (ie, Superwoman) mindset, which may have negative health consequences. We hypothesized that endorsing the Superwoman role and its Obligation to Help Others dimension would be associated with a deleterious central hemodynamics profile in African American women.

Introduction: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure (HF) commonly coexist, resulting in adverse health and economic consequences such as declining ventricular function, heightened mortality, and reduced quality of life. However, limited information exists on the impact of COVID-19 on AF patients that hospitalized for HF.
Methods: We analyzed the 2020 U.

Introduction: Cardiovascular and noncardiovascular comorbidities have been recognized as predictors of clinical response in patients receiving cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT). However, data on vitamin D as a predictor of CRT response are conflicting.
Method: We identified studies from MEDLINE and Embase databases, searching from inception to May 2024, to investigate the association between 25-OH vitamin D levels before CRT implantation and outcomes.
Introduction: The cardiac pacemaker is indicated for treating various types of bradyarrhythmia, providing lifelong cardiovascular benefits. Recent data showed that COVID-19 has impacted procedure numbers and led to adverse long-term outcomes in patients with cardiac pacemakers. However, the impact of COVID-19 infection on the in-hospital outcome of patients undergoing conventional pacemaker implantation remains unclear.

Cadaveric models, although considered more realistic, may be difficult to obtain and costly. The advent of three-dimensional (3D) printing has offered a low-cost, reliable, and reproducible alternative.

This study evaluates the statistical fragility of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) comparing patellar resurfacing versus non-patellar surfacing in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
Methods: PubMed, MEDLINE and EMBASE were searched for RCTs comparing outcomes in TKA based on patellar resurfacing.

Chimpanzee insectivory is seasonally variable, with pronounced peaks or set seasonal periods of consumption observed in most chimpanzee communities. This variation is interesting given that chimpanzees invest considerable effort into complex tool-using behaviors to acquire insect prey. Evidence suggests this seasonal variation is related to insect behavior, but few studies have been done to empirically examine this relationship.

Risk for BPH in men 50-70 years old is 50-70% and PCa is 17%. BPH and PCa can coexist in 20% of men with BPH.

The impact of , the most mutated gene in CHIP, on clinical functional outcomes of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) remains unclear. In a well-characterized cohort of 8524 ischemic stroke patients, we demonstrated that -driven CHIP was significantly associated with neurological disability in these patients.
