Background: Opioid analgesics like morphine and methadone are widely used for managing severe pain; however, concerns over their potential misuse and adverse effects on the brain and reproductive system are significant.
Objective: We aimed to investigate their impacts on spermatogenesis and cognitive function in male Norway rats.
Materials And Methods: In this experimental study, 36 male Norway rats (250-300 gr, 6 months old) were divided into 6 groups: low-dose morphine, high-dose morphine, low-dose methadone, high-dose methadone, positive control (received normal saline at 5 mg/kg), and negative control (received no treatment).

In this work, we demonstrate that palladium-immobilized triazine dendrimer on magnetic nanoparticles in proper solvents, provides an impressive, atom-economical and compelling approach for the selective synthesis of 2,3-diphenylindole or pentaphenylpyrrole derivatives via annulation of diphenylacetylene with diverse anilines. Both the annulation methods were taken place under copper- and phosphine-free conditions with high yields at air atmosphere. Likewise, bis-indoles were obtained with excellent yields under optimized reaction conditions.

This study aims to develop and apply multistate models to estimate, forecast, and manage hospital length of stay during the COVID-19 epidemic without using any external packages. Data from Bellvitge University Hospital in Barcelona, Spain, were analyzed, involving 2285 hospitalized COVID-19 patients with moderate to severe conditions. The implemented multistate model includes transition probabilities and risk rates calculated from transitions between defined states, such as admission, ICU transfer, discharge, and death.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a microvascular complication associated with diabetes mellitus (DM). During the course of the disease, high blood glucose levels induce damage to the vasculature of the retina and promote neovascularization. Although numerous environmental risk factors have been associated with the emergence of DR, the role of genetics should not be underestimated.

The main objective of this article is to examine one of the most important challenges facing researchers in the field of nanocomposite membranes: what is the most suitable arrangement (unmodified, functionalized, coated, or composite) and the most suitable loading site for the nanostructure? In the review articles published on nanocomposite membranes in recent years, the focus has been either on a specific application area (such as nanofiltration or desalination), or on a specific type of polymeric materials (such as polyamide), or on a specific feature of the membrane (such as antibacterial, antimicrobial, or antifouling). However, none of them have targeted the aforementioned objectives on the efficacy of improving filtration performance (IFP). Through IFP calculation, the results will be repeatable and generalizable in this field.

Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of whole-body electrical muscle stimulation (WB-EMS) training on inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in overweight men.
Methods: We divided 30 participants into EMS and control groups. The training program for the EMS group comprised 20 WB-EMS sessions (7 weeks, three sessions per week).

Recently, the various regulative functions of long non-coding RNAs (LncRNAs) have been well determined. Recently, the vital role of LncRNAs as gene regulators has been identified in the immune system, especially in the inflammatory response. All cells of the immune system are governed by a complex and ever-changing gene expression program that is regulated through both transcriptional and post-transcriptional processes.

L-asparaginase is a commercial enzyme with a wide variety of applications. Asparaginase is known as an anti-cancer agent that is effective for the treatment of certain lymphomas and leukemias by growth inhibition of human cancer cells. Additionally, asparaginase is used in the food industry in a pretreatment process to decrease the accumulation of carcinogenic acrylamide.

Introduction: Most people with multiple sclerosis are diagnosed with bilateral strength asymmetry in the lower limbs. Strength asymmetry increases muscle metabolic cost, muscle fatigability, postural instability, gait disturbance, imbalance, and risk of falling, and negatively affects the quality of life in PwMS. So far, the effects of rehabilitation exercises on reducing the asymmetric index in this population has not been studied convincingly.

Chirality is a fundamental and widespread geometric structural property in living organisms that most biomacromolecules including nucleic acids, proteins and enzymes, possess. Consequently, the development of chiral drugs capable of binding specific targets have gradually gained wide attention in recent decades due to their selective effects on a broad spectrum of biological events ranging from cell metabolism to cell fate. In this context, the synthesis of chiral compounds as promising therapeutic candidates has assumed a major role in drug discovery.

In this study, a novel quantum dot (QD)-labeled specific anti-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) aptamer sequence was conjugated to a pH-responsive niosomal particle platform for delivery of docetaxel (DTX) components. The target cells were overexpressed PSMA. This strategy can minimize the systemic toxicity prevalent in DTX.

Targeting tumor angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels supporting cancer growth and spread, has been an intense focus for therapy development. However, benefits from anti-angiogenic drugs like bevacizumab have been limited by resistance stemming from activation of compensatory pathways. Recent immunotherapy advances have sparked interest in novel immunologic approaches that can induce more durable vascular pruning and overcome limitations of existing angiogenesis inhibitors.

The mean residual lifetime (MRL) of a unit is its expected additional lifetime provided that it has survived until time . The MRL estimation problem has been frequently addressed in the literature since it has wide applications in statistics, reliability and survival analysis. In this paper, we consider the problem of estimating the MRL in ranked set sampling when actual quantifications of a concomitant variable are available.

Background And Objectives: According to current models of compulsive checking, memory confidence greatly contributes to the development and maintenance of checking behaviours. However, how to intervene in memory confidence in an evidence-based manner has not yet been fully understood. Thus, the purpose of the current paper was to identify the factors influencing memory confidence through the review of experimental evidence.

Purpose: This study aims to comprehensively delineate the phenotypic spectrum of ACTL6B-related disorders, previously associated with both autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant neurodevelopmental disorders. Molecularly, the role of the nucleolar protein ACTL6B in contributing to the disease has remained unclear.
Methods: We identified 105 affected individuals, including 39 previously reported cases, and systematically analysed detailed clinical and genetic data for all individuals.

The aim of the present study was to determine the effects of exercise training on ectopic and subcutaneous fat in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus were searched for original articles published through November 2023 that included exercise versus control interventions on body mass (BM), liver fat percentage, visceral fat area (VFA), subcutaneous fat area (SFA), and intramuscular fat volume or mass (IMF) in patients with T2DM. Weighted mean differences (WMDs) for liver fat and BM, standardized mean differences (SMDs) for VFA, SFA, and IMF, and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) were determined using random-effects models.

This paper proposed a new method for maximum power point tracking in photovoltaic power generation systems by combining super-twisting sliding mode control and active disturbance rejection method. An incremental guidance method is used to find the point of maximum power. The non-linear extended state observer is applied to estimate the unmodeled dynamics and external disturbance.

In the field of global water purification, the issue of marine oil spills represents a significant challenge. The use of phase-selective organogelators (PSOGs) as sorbent materials in oil spill remediation is a promising solution due to their environmental adaptability and high absorption capacity. However, there are limited reports on PSOGs that can be used in powder form for rapid phase-selective gelation of crude oils.

Oil spills from pipeline accidents can have long-lasting health effects on residents of polluted regions. Assessing the potential health risk of these accidents is crucial for effective environmental health management. This study analyzed the concentration of 2-OHNAP in urine and hair as biomarkers of PAHs exposure among the people living in a region with frequent oil pipeline incident in Iran.
