Background: Online grocery shopping is a growing source of food purchases in many countries. We investigated the effect of nudging consumers towards purchases of lower sodium products using a web browser extension.
Methods: This trial was conducted among individuals with hypertension who shopped for their groceries online in Australia.

Background: Despite an urgent need for multi-domain lifestyle interventions to reduce dementia risk, there is a lack of interventions which are informed by theory- and evidence-based behaviour change strategies, and no interventions in this domain have investigated the feasibility or effectiveness of behaviour change maintenance. We tested the feasibility, acceptability and cognitive effects of a personalised theory-based 24-week intervention to improve Mediterranean diet (MD) adherence alone, or in combination with physical activity (PA), in older-adults at risk of dementia, defined using a cardiovascular risk score.
Methods: Participants (n = 104, 74% female, 57-76 years) were randomised to three parallel intervention arms: (1) control, (2) MD, or (3) MD + PA for 24 weeks and invited to an optional 24-week follow-up period with no active intervention.

Purpose: The Australian Genomics Cardiovascular Disorders Flagship was a national multidisciplinary collaboration. It aimed to investigate the feasibility of genome sequencing (GS) and functional genomics to resolve variants of uncertain significance (VUS) in the clinical management of patients and families with cardiomyopathies, primary arrhythmias, and congenital heart disease (CHD).
Methods: Between April 2019 and December 2021, 600 probands meeting cardiovascular disorder criteria from 17 cardiology and genetics clinics across Australia were enrolled in the Flagship and underwent GS.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a promising class of electrolytes with a unique combination of properties, such as extremely low vapor pressures and nonflammability. Doping ILs with alkali metal salts creates an electrolyte that is of interest for battery technology. These salt-in-ionic liquids (SiILs) are a class of superconcentrated, strongly correlated, and asymmetric electrolytes.

The separation between people and nature is a key driver of environmental decline. Despite increased interest in nature connectedness, we know little about nature disconnection or the degree of connectedness required for pro-environmental choices. Using a large probability sample of Australians (N = 1101), we explore differences in the characteristics, attitudes, and priorities among those with low, moderate, and high nature connectedness levels.

Access to timely, age-appropriate palliative care services and end-of-life communication are two standards of care for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) living with cancer where cure is uncertain or unlikely. Health professionals' capacity to facilitate these standards is critical. This study aimed to understand AYA oncology health professionals' experienced practices in, and barriers to, delivering these standards of care across palliative care and end-of-life communication in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom (UK).

Introduction: Routine collection of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) has the potential to inform and improve cancer care. It is now feasible for patients to complete PROMs electronically (ePROMs) providing information about their current levels of symptoms, side effects of treatment and other concerns. PROM scores can be tracked over time allowing more timely identification of problems and more appropriate intervention.

Objective: Rehabilitation is thought to reduce ataxia severity in individuals with hereditary cerebellar ataxia (HCA). This multicenter, randomized controlled superiority trial aimed to examine the efficacy of a 30-week goal-directed rehabilitation program compared with 30 weeks of standard care on function, ataxia, health-related quality of life, and balance in individuals with an HCA.
Methods: Individuals with an autosomal dominant or recessive ataxia (aged ≥15 years) were enrolled at 5 sites in Australia.

Macrophages in atherosclerotic lesions exhibit a spectrum of behaviours or phenotypes. The phenotypic distribution of monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs), its correlation with MDM lipid content, and relation to blood lipoprotein densities are not well understood. Of particular interest is the balance between low density lipoproteins (LDL) and high density lipoproteins (HDL), which carry bad and good cholesterol respectively.

Abstract: The utility of brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for predicting dementia is debated. We evaluated the added value of repeated brain MRI, including atrophy and cerebral small vessel disease markers, for dementia prediction. We conducted a landmark competing risk analysis in 1716 participants of the French population-based Three-City Study to predict the 5-year risk of dementia using repeated measures of 41 predictors till year 4 of follow-up.

Silk fibroin (SF) is a natural protein extracted fromsilkworm thread. From its common use in the textile industry, it emerged as a biomaterial with promising biochemical and mechanical properties for applications in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. In this study, we evaluate for the first time the effects of SF on cardiac bioink formulations containing cardiac spheroids (CSs).

Sexually diverse Muslim men (SDMM) are seen to present later and with more advanced symptoms of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The limited access to sexual healthcare services is attributed to the stigma associated with their multiple intersecting identities. We conducted a scoping review to synthesise research on barriers impeding SDMM's access to sexual health care.

Heterogeneous catalysts embracing metal entities on suitable supports are profound in catalyzing various chemical reactions, and substantial synthetic endeavors in metal-support interaction modulation are made to enhance catalytic performance. Here, it is reported the loading of sub-2 nm Ru nanocrystals (NCs) on titanium nitride support (HTS-Ru-NCs/TiN) via a special Ru-Ti interaction using the high-temperature shock (HTS) method. Direct dechlorination of the adsorbed RuCl, ultrafast nucleation process, and short coalescence duration at ultrahigh temperatures contribute to the immobilization of Ru NCs on TiN support via producing the Ru-Ti interfacial perimeter.

Background: Serrated polyposis syndrome is the most common polyposis syndrome that has neoplastic potential. However, the natural history, genetic basis, and risk of dysplasia and neoplasia of serrated polyposis syndrome are incompletely understood. The objective of this study is to define the epidemiology of serrated polyposis syndrome.

Introduction: The unmet physical and mental health needs of school-aged children (5-18 years) in New South Wales (NSW), stemming from poor access and engagement with healthcare, can be addressed by school-based integrated care (SBIC) models. This research aims to understand why and how partnerships between the health and education sector, in SBIC models, are important in providing care for children, and to identify the facilitating factors and barriers for implementation.
Methods: A qualitative study was conducted using semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis.

Background: Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) diagnosed with cancer experience physical, cognitive, and psychosocial effects from cancer treatment that can negatively affect their ability to remain engaged in education or work through cancer treatment and in the long term. Disengagement from education or work can have lasting implications for AYAs' financial independence, psychosocial well-being, and quality of life. Australian AYAs with cancer lack access to adequate specialist support for their education and work needs and report a preference for web-based support that they can access from anywhere, in their own time.
