Spent coffee grounds (SCGs) have great potential as a useful, value-added biological material. Physiological resistance mechanisms to these insecticides have been well described, whereas those for behavioral resistance remain overlooked. Field data suggest the presence of spatial sensory detection by Anopheles mosquitoes of the pyrethroid molecules used in insecticide-based control tools, such as long-lasting insecticide nets or insecticide residual spraying.

The sense of agency, the feeling of controlling one's bodily actions and the world is altered in Depersonalisation (DP), a condition that makes people feel detached from one's self and body. To investigate the link between depersonalisation and both implicit and explicit sense of agency, an online study was conducted using the influential Intentional Binding paradigm in a sample of non-clinical DP participants. The results did not reveal significant differences between individuals with low and high occurrences of DP experiences on the implicit and explicit sense of agency.

Oscillatory-driven amorphous materials forget their initial configuration and converge to limit cycles. Here we investigate this memory loss under a nonquasistatic drive in a minimal model system, with quenched disorder and memory encoded in a spatial pattern, where oscillating protocols are formally replaced by a positive-velocity drive. We consider an elastic line driven athermally in a quenched disorder with biperiodic boundary conditions and tunable system size, thus controlling the area swept by the line per cycle as would the oscillation amplitude.

When conducting in situ experiments at high temperatures in a scanning electron microscope using microfurnaces, controlling the temperature of a sample of a few mm3 placed in the hot zone of the furnace can be a complex task. In most cases, the temperature of the sample is estimated by means of a thermocouple placed in the hot body of the furnace, and the assumption made is that the temperature of the furnace is the temperature of the sample. In this work, a detailed understanding of the thermal response of the sample placed in the hot zone of the furnace is proposed.

Demyelinating Charcot-Marie-Tooth 4G (CMT4G) results from a recessive mutation in the 5'UTR region of the Hexokinase 1 (HK1) gene. HK participates in mitochondrial calcium homeostasis by binding to the Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel (VDAC), through its N-terminal porin-binding domain. Our hypothesis is that CMT4G mutation results in a broken interaction between mutant HK1 and VDAC, disturbing mitochondrial calcium homeostasis.
