Background: The spectrum of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) for people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) has expanded over years, but data on treatment strategies is largely lacking. DMT switches are common clinical practice.
Objective: To compare switchers and non-switchers, characterize the first DMT switch and identify reasons and predictors for switching the first DMT.

Several studies reported post-SARS-CoV-2-vaccination (PV) symptoms. Even people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) have concerns about disease activity following the SARS-CoV-2 vaccination. We aimed to determine the proportion of PwMS with PV relapses, the PV annualized relapse rate (ARR), the time from vaccination to subsequent relapses, and identify sociodemographic/clinical risk factors for PV relapses.

Despite protection from severe COVID-19 courses through vaccinations, some people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) are vaccination-hesitant due to fear of post-vaccination side effects/increased disease activity. The aim was to reveal the frequency and predictors of post-SARS-CoV-2-vaccination relapses in PwMS. This prospective, observational study was conducted as a longitudinal Germany-wide online survey (baseline survey and two follow-ups).

Background: Vaccines offer people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) an effective protection against severe COVID-19 disease courses. However, representative real-world data on the tolerability of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in PwMS are limited. We aimed at analysing vaccination reactions (VRs) and MS deterioration following SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations in German and United Kingdom (UK) PwMS, especially regarding gender-specific differences.

Introductions: Therapy switches in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) receiving treatment with fingolimod occur frequently in clinical practice but are not well represented in real-world data. The aim of this study was to identify and characterize treatment switches and reveal sociodemographic/clinical changes over time in fingolimod-treated people with MS (PwMS).
Methods: Data on 2536 fingolimod-treated PwMS extracted from the German MS Registry during different time periods were analyzed (2010-2019).
Background: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection represents a serious health risk, especially in chronically ill people. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common chronic immune-mediated neurological disease. Vaccinations play an important role in the therapeutic MS management.

Background: The manifestation of multiple sclerosis (MS) in childhood and adolescence occurs in 3%-5% of all MS cases. However, the immunomodulatory and symptomatic treatment options in this population group are still limited.
Objective: We aimed to elucidate the prescription frequency of medications used in pediatric patients with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) compared with the general population, considering the entire spectrum of medications prescribed.

Objectives: To assess imaging features of primary renal sarcomas in order to better discriminate them from non-sarcoma renal tumors.
Methods: Adult patients diagnosed with renal sarcomas from 1995 to 2018 were included from 11 European tertiary referral centers (Germany, Belgium, Turkey). Renal sarcomas were 1:4 compared to patients with non-sarcoma renal tumors.

Background: Component separation (CS) for tension-free approximation of fascial edges is the established technique for the repair of large ventral hernias mostly regarding midline defects. Recent studies suggest lower complication rates following a modified version of this technique using a partially endoscopic-assisted approach, whereas little is known about the quality of life (QoL) in the long-term evaluation of these patients.
Methods: A retrospective study and analysis of patients undergoing hernia repair using an open CS (OCS) and endoscopically assisted CS (ECS) technique, respectively, from 2011 to 2016 at the Rostock University Medical Center.

Background: Tissue flossing has been introduced to increase impaired range of motion (ROM) and flexibility, to enhance prevention and rehabilitation, as well as to improve athletic performance; however, limited evidence exists for its efficacy. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of ankle flossing on periarticular stiffness and perfusion via Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) elastography and Power Doppler Sonography (PDS).
Methods: Twenty-one healthy students (age: 24±2 years, BMI: 22±3 kg/m) were recruited as participants.

Objective: This study investigated simultaneously the impact of methylphenidate (MPH) on the interaction of inhibitory and facilitative pathways in regions processing motor and cognitive functions.
Method: Neural markers of attention and response control (event-related potentials) and motor cortical excitability (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and their pharmacological modulation by MPH were measured simultaneously in a sample of healthy adults (n = 31) performing a cued choice reaction test.
Results: Methylphenidate modulated attentional gating and response preparation processes (increased contingent negative variation) and response inhibition (increased nogo P3).

Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the difference in success rates of implants when using two or four implant-supported-overdentures following segmental mandibular reconstruction with fibula free flap.
Methods And Designs: This prospective, parallel designed, randomized clinical study was conducted with 1:1 ratio. At baseline, all participants already had segmental reconstruction of mandible with free fibula flap.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess and compare the growth and function of Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) cultured on covalently bonded Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and covalently bonded Fibronectin (FN) coating on deproteinized bovine bone (DBB) (test samples), compared to non-modified DBB blocks (control sample).
Materials And Methods: The test samples were prepared by plasma polymerization of allylamine onto DBB blocks. Group1 of test samples were prepared with VEGF coating (VEGF-DBB) where as the Group2 test samples were coated with FN (FN-DBB).

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can modulate the excitability of stimulated cortical areas, such as prefrontal areas involved in emotion regulation. Low frequency (LF) rTMS is expected to have inhibitory effects on prefrontal regions, and thereby should disinhibit limbic activity, resulting in enhanced emotional and autonomic reactions. For high frequency (HF) rTMS, the opposite pattern might be assumed.

Objective: The aim of the present study was to illustrate the injury patterns and the etiology of accident victims with maxillofacial fractures in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (M-P), Germany.
Material And Methods: Between 2010 and 2013, patients with maxillofacial fractures from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Helios Kliniken Schwerin, were evaluated with a specially constructed data set in a retrospective analysis. After review of the patient records, a case-related data collection was performed with the pre-set characteristics: age, gender, age group, maxillofacial fracture, and cause of injury.

Purpose: The goal of this retrospective study was to examine the radiological changes in the pharyngeal airway following mandibular distraction osteogenesis (DO) and bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO).
Material And Methods: Between 2005 and 2009, a total of 41 nonsyndromic patients underwent a mandibular osteotomy (nDO = 23; nBSSO = 18). Digital volume tomography images were created for preoperative and postoperative evaluations of both groups.

Background: Abduction splints for the treatment of hip dysplasia normally operate on curbing the legs at the hip flexion and abduction. The forces are absorbed in different designs of shoulder straps and thus diverted to the shoulder and the spine. The present study is the first comparing these undesired forces of two spread orthoses and subsequently the transmitted forces to the infant's spine.
