Background: Hemoglobin, Albumin, Lymphocyte, and Platelet Score (HALP) is an accessible score that is easily reproducible from routine laboratory testing while also reflecting patients' immune-nutritional status. Along with other immuno-nutritional scores, such as the Prognostic Nutrition Index (PNI), HALP has been associated with a number of clinical and pathological features. The goal of our study was to evaluate the prognostic utility of HALP and PNI scores in testicular germ cell cancer (GCT) patients.

The increasing prevalence of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) underscores the need for better understanding of its complex pathogenesis. Lipid accumulation in hepatocytes is among principal mechanisms contributing to MASLD development. While routine lipid parameters are well studied, the profile of circulating fatty acids in MASLD patients remains less explored.

(1) Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, complex, and demyelinating disease closely associated with altered levels of trace elements. Although the first studies into the role of trace elements in MS were published in the 1970s, for five decades it has remained unknown whether trace elements can be part of this heterogeneous neurological disease. (2) Materials and methods: To drive toward at a potential solution, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to elucidate whether there were differences in circulating levels of neurologically important essential trace elements (Zn, Fe, Co, Cu, Mn, and Se) between MS cases and controls.

Introduction: Metabolic Dysfunction-associated Liver Disease (MASLD) represents a spectrum of conditions from simple fat accumulation to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. The possible role of the intestinal microbiome on MASLD development has been in focus. Our study aimed to examine the effects of synbiotics on the liver steatosis, inflammation, and stool microbiome.

Objective: The relationship between smoking and onset of glaucoma has been inconsistent. However, there is a gap in understanding whether tobacco smoking is linked to a worse visual impairment in different glaucoma subtypes. The objective of this study was to examine the association between smoking behavior and vision-related disability in people who have different glaucoma subtypes.

The complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are well known and one of them is diabetic chronic kidney disease (DCKD). Over time, it has become clear that patients with T2DM can have nondiabetic chronic kidney diseases (NDCKD), especially those that affect the glomeruli. Clinical indicators for identifying DCKD from NDCKD with high sensitivity and specificity have not yet been identified.

Background: Patients with acute pancreatitis develop numerous complications and organ damage due to increased intra-abdominal pressure (IAP). These extrapancreatic complications determine the clinical outcome of the disease.
Materials And Methods: A total of 100 patients with acute pancreatitis were included in the prospective cohort study.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine socio-demographic, lifestyle and ophthalmological factors associated with poorer Vision Related Quality of Life (VRQoL) in people with glaucoma.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included 306 consecutive patients with glaucoma who presented for regular check-ups at the referral center in Belgrade (Serbia) from August 2015 to September 2016. The diagnosis of glaucoma was based on the glaucomatous disc cupping and reproducible visual field impairment on one or both eyes.

Background: Immune dysregulation and associated inefficient anti-viral immunity during Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) can cause tissue and organ damage which shares many similarities with pathogenetic processes in systemic autoimmune diseases. In this study, we investigate wide range autoimmune and immunoserological markers in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.
Methods: Study included 51 patients with confirmed Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 infection and hospitalized due to COVID-19 pneumonia.
Deleterious effects of SNPs found in genes encoding transcriptional factors, as well as antioxidant and detoxification enzymes, are disputable; however, their functional significance seems to modify the risk for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) development and progression. We investigated the effect of specific , , gene variants and haplotype on ccRCC risk and prognosis and evaluated the association between GSTP1 and regulatory (JNK1/2) and executor (caspase-3) apoptotic molecule expression in ccRCC tissue samples and the presence of GSTP1 : JNK1/2 protein : protein interactions. Genotyping was performed in 223 ccRCC patients and 336 matched controls by PCR-CTTP and qPCR.

Introduction: Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is one of the causes of the pulmonary-renal syndrome associated with elevated non-specific markers of inflammation and antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (ANCA) positivity in 50-75%. occurrence of the disease in patients on chronic hemodialysis (HD) has not been described.
Case Presentation: We presented patient who developed MPO-ANCA-associated MPA with lung and musculoskeletal involvement after 4 years on regular HD due to bilateral nephrectomy.

Statement Of Problem: Diabetes mellitus type 2 is associated with a variety of oral mucosal changes, including an altered level of salivary vascular endothelial growth factor. However, the authors identified no studies concerning denture stomatitis and salivary vascular endothelial growth factor in immediate denture wearers with diabetes mellitus type 2.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the incidence of and risk factors for denture stomatitis in immediate complete denture wearers with and without diabetes mellitus type 2 and to investigate the relationship between levels of salivary vascular endothelial growth factor and clinical forms of denture stomatitis in both groups.

Background/aim: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an immune-mediated disorder of the central nervous system (CNS), characterized by inflammation, demyelination and axonal loss. Retinal periphlebitis (RP) is often present in MS patients with similar evolution and histopathological changes as MS lesions. The aim of this study was to analyze the presence of RP in MS patients during different clinical phases, and its connection with impairment of blood-brain barrier.

Background: The thyroid gland has always been known, but its function was unclear for a long time. It has been thought to be a part of the larynx, protection of the larynx, a lubricant gland, an esthetic organ, and a buffer preventing quick afflux of blood into the head. The aim of this work is to bring out the thyroid gland in works of famous old anatomists and great artists, without valorization of its precisions and exactitudes.

Background: Angioedema is not an event peculiar to an acute-phase response. We registered the appearance of angioedema in four nonatopic patients suffering from diverse inflammatory stimuli.
Materials And Methods: Serum concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP), haptoglobin, alpha1-antitrypsin, alpha2-macroglobulin, C3, C4, C1INH and protein sgp 120 (classified as a regulatory protein of the complement system) were assessed over 7 consecutive days, beginning with the onset of angioedema in these four patients.

Background: While searching for antigliadin and anticasein antibodies in sera from coeliac patients we investigated more than 20 persons suffering from this enteropathy. In some of sera, we registered antibodies against gliadin and in parallel the appearance of anticasein antibodies. A high percentage of glutamic acid has been proven by amino acid analysis in both these proteins.

In this study we assessed the effects of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Dpt) rush immunotherapy in comparison with placebo treatment in our asthmatic patients. Fourteen highly Dpt-susceptible adults were randomized in two groups (immunotherapy and placebo) and treated in single-blind manner. Patients were selected according to the recommendation of the immunotherapy position paper (1993).
