Background: Diabetes ranks among the most common chronic conditions in childhood and adolescence. It is unique among chronic conditions, in that clinical outcomes are intimately tied to how the child or adolescent living with diabetes and their parents or carers react to and implement good clinical practice guidance. It is widely recognized that the individual's perspective about the impact of trying to manage the disease together with the burden of self-management should be addressed to achieve optimal health outcomes.

Objectives: Greater vulnerability of Black vs. White individuals to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) is well charted in the United States, but studies involving sub-Saharan blacks are scarce.
Methods: Baseline data (2021-2024) were collected in 168 sub-Saharan Blacks and 93 European Whites in an ongoing clinical trial (NCT04299529), using standardized patient selection criteria.

Background: C3 glomerulopathy is a rare clinical entity characterized by dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway in glomerular disease. Studies defining the natural history of C3G in the pediatric population are scarce.
Methods: Patients included in this retrospective study were diagnosed between 2011 and 2020 in 12 European pediatric nephrology units.

Background: Left bundle branch area pacing (LBBAP) has gained increased adoption globally with the use of both lumenless leads (LLLs) and stylet-driven leads (SDLs). As these leads have been developed for conventional endocardial pacing sites, concerns remain regarding the lead integrity with LBBAP.
Objectives: This study evaluates lead integrity of pacing leads used for LBBAP in a large, real-world cohort of patients with LBBAP.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a rare, heterogeneous, potentially life-threatening autoimmune disease. Presence of kidney or other major organ (brain, heart or lung) involvement are predictors of poor outcome and in a subset of patients resistant to 1st or 2nd line conventional treatment. The 10-year mortality remains around 10-15 %.

Pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines help regulate the inflammatory response. A cytokine storm is a dysregulated cytokine response associated with sepsis and other conditions that result in a hyper-inflammatory state. There is an emerging group of distinct vascular neoplasms with NFATC1/2 fusions, involving bones and soft tissues and often displaying focal epithelioid morphology, variable atypia of endothelial cells, predominantly vasoformative and in some cases focal solid growth. Although they may show aggressive local growth and may recur locally, malignant behaviour has not been documented. We present a case of a 35-year-old woman with multiple vascular neoplasms with a EWSR1::NFATC2 fusion involving the lungs, multiple bones (vertebra, femurs, tibia, pelvis) and probably the liver.

Adherence to the Mediterranean diet (MeD) has been associated with a reduced incidence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD)/lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) in observational trials and in a randomized trial. In secondary prevention, a lower hazard ratio for composite major adverse cardiovascular events has been associated with better adherence to MeD in a relatively small, randomized trial. This has not been confirmed in a sub-analysis of a large interventional trial of dual antithrombotic treatment.

This study investigated the potential role of specific single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the genes (), (), , (), (), and () to assess whether these genetic variants contribute to the risk of spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB). A case-control study was conducted involving 573 women from Croatia and Slovenia: 248 with sporadic sPTB (positive personal and negative family history of sPTB before 37 weeks' gestation), 44 with familial sPTB (positive personal and family history of sPTB before 37 weeks' gestation), and 281 control women. The analysis of rs146756455, rs2963463, rs2946169, rs201450565, rs188343966, and rs1800629 SNPs was performed using TaqMan real-time PCR.
