Background: Initial systemic therapy for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) is usually based on two- or three-drug chemotherapy regimens with fluoropyrimidine (5-fluorouracil (5-FU) or capecitabine), oxaliplatin and/or irinotecan, combined with either anti-VEGF (bevacizumab) or, for RAS wild-type (WT) tumors, anti-EGFR antibodies (panitumumab or cetuximab). Recommendations for patients who are not eligible for intensive combination therapies are limited and include fluoropyrimidine plus bevacizumab or single agent anti-EGFR antibody treatment. Aims: To evaluate the diagnostic relevance of autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 (ZnT8) in schoolchildren from the general population as well as in people with autoimmune diabetes.

Methods: A total of 137 schoolchildren positive for at least one of the three major diabetes-associated autoantibodies, without diabetes heredity or preselection on HLA typing, from the Karlsburg Type 1 Diabetes Risk Study, as well as 102 people at type 1 diabetes onset, 88 people with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults and 119 people with type 2 diabetes, were analysed for different ZnT8 autoantibody variants.

Results: Zinc transporter 8 autoantibody positivity was found in 18% of autoantibody-positive schoolchildren, with a noticeable association with other autoantibodies associated with type 1 diabetes and disease progression.

This study investigated the association of microstructural cerebral lesions with central sleep apnea with Cheyne-Stokes-respiration (CSA-CSR) in heart failure (HF) patients and the effect of positive airway pressure therapy (PAP) of CSA-CSR on these lesions. PAP-therapy was initiated in patients with HF with midrange and with reduced ejection fraction (NYHA≥II; left ventricular ejection fraction <50%) and proven CSA-CSR. The fabrication of zirconia dental restorations is a time-consuming process due to traditional slow sintering schemes; zirconia (Y-TZP) produced by these conventional routes are predominantly opaque. Novel speed sintering protocols have been developed to meet the demand for time and cost effective chairside CAD/CAM-produced restorations, as well as to control ceramic microstructures for better translucency. Usage of cancer cell lines has repeatedly generated conflicting results provoked by differences among subclones or contamination with mycoplasm or other immortal mammalian cells. To overcome these limitations, we decided within the EuroBoNeT consortium to characterize a common set of cell lines including osteosarcomas (OS), Ewing sarcomas (ES), and chondrosarcomas (CS). Background: Platelet adhesion and subsequent thrombus formation on a subendothelial matrix at the site of vascular damage play a crucial role in the arrest of posttraumatic bleeding but also in different pathological thrombotic events, such as acute coronary syndrome and stroke.
