The escalating presence of heavy metals (HMs) in the Panjkora River water and their impact on fish pose a significant challenge to both the ecological community and human health. Consequently, a study was conducted with the primary aim of elucidating their influence on human health-related issues. To address this, the concentrations of heavy metals, including arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), iron (Fe), manganese (Mn), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn), in both water and the fish species Crossocheilus diplocheilus were investigated across various locations within the study area.

Semiconductor-based photocatalysis has attracted significant interest due to its capacity to directly exploit solar energy and generate solar fuels, including water splitting, CO reduction, pollutant degradation, and bacterial inactivation. However, achieving the maximum efficiency in photocatalytic processes remains a challenge owing to the speedy recombination of electron-hole pairs and the limited use of light. Therefore, significant endeavours have been devoted to addressing these issues.

Abiotic stresses including sodium chloride (NaCl) are known to negatively affect plant physiology and seed germination by inducing a delay in establishing seedling emergence. The monoterpene carvacrol is the major component of several aromatic plants and seems to interfere with germination and seedling growth. In this study, we investigated whether treatment with carvacrol attenuates the effects of NaCl on the germination and development of Allium cepa, where biochemical parameters were also analyzed.

Sugar and fatty acid content are among the important factors that contribute to the intensity of flavor in aromatic coconut. Gaining a comprehensive understanding of the sugar and fatty acid metabolites in the flesh of aromatic coconuts, along with identifying the key synthetic genes, is of significant importance for improving the development of desirable character traits in these coconuts. However, the related conjoint analysis of metabolic targets and molecular synthesis mechanisms has not been carried out in aromatic coconut until now.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly aggressive type of primary brain cancer with a poor prognosis, and despite intensive research, survival rates have not significantly improved. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) are emerging as critical regulators of GBM pathogenesis, including angiogenesis, which is essential for tumor growth and invasion. MicroRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified as regulators of angiogenesis in GBM.

R&D spending upsurges technological advancement and innovation which results in lowering energy consumption and environmental degradation. The current study investigates the asymmetrical impact of R&D spending on CO emissions in China via employing annual data from 1980 to 2021 and the NARDL model for empirical analysis. The estimated results of the NARDL model confirmed that there are asymmetries in positive and negative coefficients of R&D spending in China.

Bacteriophages have been extensively investigated due to their prominent role in the virulence and resistance of pathogenic bacteria. However, little attention has been given to the non-pathogenic Bacillus phages, and their role in the ecological bacteria genome is overlooked. In the present study, we characterized two Bacillus phages with a linear DNA genome of 33.

Cadmium significantly impacts plant growth and productivity by disrupting physiological, biochemical, and oxidative defenses, leading to severe damage. The application of Zn-Lys improves plant growth while reducing the stress caused by heavy metals on plants. By focusing on cadmium stress and potential of Zn-Lys on pea, we conducted a pot-based study, organized under completely randomized block design CRD-factorial at the Botanical Garden of Government College University, Faisalabad.
