Sorbonne Paris Nord University, Chemistry Structures Properties of Biomaterials and Therapeutic Agents Laboratory (CSPBAT), Nanomédecine Biomarqueurs Détection Team (NBD), The National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), UMR 7244, 74 Rue Marcel Cachin, CEDEX, 93017 Bobigny, France.

Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a complex disorder that is implicated in dysregulations in multiple biological pathways, orchestrated by interactions between genetic predisposition, metabolic syndromes and environmental factors. The limited knowledge of its pathogenesis is one of the bottlenecks in the development of prognostic and therapeutic options for MAFLD. Moreover, the extent to which metabolic pathways are altered due to ongoing hepatic steatosis, inflammation and fibrosis and subsequent liver damage remains unclear.

University Hospitals of Paris-Sud, Assistance Publique Des Hôpitaux De Paris, Medical Intensive Care Unit (J.-L.T.) Critical Care and Anesthesia Department (L.V., J.D.), Bicêtre Hospital, Le Kremlin Bicêtre, France Clinical Research Unit, UMR 942, Lariboisiere University Hospital, Paris, France (E.V.).

Background: Dynamic indices, such as pulse pressure variation, detect preload dependence and are used to predict fluid responsiveness. The behavior of sublingual microcirculation during preload dependence is unknown during major abdominal surgery. The purpose of this study was to test the hypothesis that during abdominal surgery, microvascular perfusion is impaired during preload dependence and recovers after fluid administration.

Introduction: Several authors have suggested the existence of motor disorders associated with developmental coordination disorder (DCD) in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, there are few comparative studies of psychomotor profiles that include assessments of neurological soft signs in children with ASD or DCD. We used a neuropsychomotor assessment for children with ASD from a standardized neurodevelopmental examination to understand the nature of the difficulties these children encounter.

Bone marrow (BM)-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) frequently display alterations in several hematologic disorders, such as acute lymphoid leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and myelodysplastic syndromes. In acute leukemias, it is not clear whether MSC alterations contribute to the development of the malignant clone or whether they are simply the effect of tumor expansion on the microenvironment. We extensively investigated the characteristics of MSCs isolated from the BM of patients with de novo AML at diagnosis (L-MSCs) in terms of phenotype (gene and protein expression, apoptosis and senescence levels, DNA double-strand break formation) and functions (proliferation and clonogenic potentials, normal and leukemic hematopoiesis-supporting activity).

A detailed assessment of laterality in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was realized, including handedness and other measures (muscle tone, manual performance, dominant eye), using a standardized battery for the developmental assessment of neuro-psychomotor functions. The results of the laterality tests relating to cerebral hemisphere organization (spontaneous gestural laterality and tonic laterality) were different in ASD children, and indicate that the cerebral organization could be disrupted. These assessments, added to the observations of usual laterality most often reported in the literature, provide better understanding of the developmental organization from the pathophysiological point of view in children with ASD.
