Background: The use of glucagon-like-peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) has greatly increased in patients of reproductive age within the past four years. However, there is minimal research into the long-term impact of these medications on future pregnancies.

Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the association between adverse obstetric outcomes and antecedent GLP-1RA use using a nationally representative database.

This most frequently occurs within the pelvis and is a common cause of chronic pelvic pain in women of reproductive age. Background: Despite advances in drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) diagnosis, treatment, and service delivery, individuals with DR-TB often face significant socioeconomic and psychosocial challenges due to limited resources. These challenges can hinder retention in care, undermining the progress made in DR-TB management. As a consequence, advances in DR-TB diagnostics and treatment have not resulted in DR-TB programs meeting the 75% treatment success targets set by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Importance: A substantial number of individuals worldwide experience long COVID, or post-COVID condition. Other postviral and autoimmune conditions have a female predominance, but whether the same is true for long COVID, especially within different subgroups, is uncertain.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder. However, current treatments only manage symptoms and lack the ability to slow or prevent disease progression. We utilized a systems genetics approach to identify potential risk genes and repurposable drugs for PD.

C-Reactive Protein Changes in Adult and Pediatric People With Cystic Fibrosis During Treatment of Pulmonary Exacerbations.

Objective: Although studies have examined changes in C-reactive protein (CRP) during pulmonary exacerbations (PEX) in people with cystic fibrosis (PwCF), few have evaluated CRP profiles across age groups. Here, we characterize age-related CRP responses to PEX treatment.

Methods: We measured CRP concentrations at the beginning and end of intravenous (IV) antibiotic therapy for PEX in 100 pediatric and 147 adult PwCF at 10 US CF Centers.

Comparison of Diabetes Education Content Experienced by Blind and Nonblind People With Diabetes.

This survey sought to examine disparities in diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) to illuminate gaps underlying morbidity and mortality disparities experienced by blind people with diabetes and develop a pathway for improved health care delivery and health outcomes. Blind participants were more likely to report getting DSMES on strategies to promote treatment adherence and noncompliance with medical regimen; yet, blind and nonblind participants did not differ on primary care provider visits or amount of time spent in diabetes education. These findings suggest that DSMES content may differ for blind versus nonblind participants.

Protocols for circulating neutrophil depletion in neonatal C57Bl/6 mice.

Murine neonatal neutrophil depletion strategies have problems achieving deep neutrophil clearance and accurate residual neutrophil fraction detection. An isotype switch method can achieve profound neutrophil clearance using a combination of anti-Ly6G and anti-rat κ Ig light chain antibodies in adult C57Bl/6 mice, proven by extra- and intracellular Ly6G detection by flow cytometry. We adapted this technique to neonatal mice, testing four neutrophil depletion strategies in the peripheral circulation, bone marrow, and spleen.

The impact of FDA-cleared molecular solutions for BK polyomavirus quantitation.

Accurate detection and monitoring of BK polyomavirus (BKV) infection is of critical importance in the post-transplant period, guiding treatment decisions that balance the anti-rejection effects of immune suppression with host-protective effects of immune defense. Historically, test methods for BKV have been independently developed by laboratories to address this unmet need. However, these assays can suffer from inconsistencies in analytical variability, which in turn have hindered the establishment of commutable and clinically actionable viral load thresholds for clinical management.

Electroconvulsive therapy in the treatment of catatonia in a patient with Budd Chiari syndrome: a case report.

Catatonia may manifest as an independent entity or as a feature of a neuropsychiatric or medical illness. While electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is the gold standard treatment for catatonia, it is typically administered if the patient's symptoms fail to respond to benzodiazepines. We describe the case of a 22-year-old male with Budd Chiari induced cirrhosis and no prior psychiatric history, who presented with symptoms of psychosis and hepatic encephalopathy, was treated in the ICU for multi-factorial delirium, developed symptoms of catatonia that failed to respond to lorazepam, ultimately requiring ECT with a favorable response.

Safety and Efficacy of Toripalimab in Patients with Cholangiocarcinoma: An Open-Label, Phase 1 Study.

Introduction: This was the first phase 1 study conducted in the United States. It consisted of dose-escalation (part A) and multiple indication-specific cohort expansion (part B), investigating the safety and preliminary efficacy of toripalimab (anti-programmed cell death-1 inhibitor) in patients with advanced malignancies.

Methods: Patients with advanced malignancies that progressed after treatment with at least one prior line of standard systemic therapy, including the patients with advanced/recurrent cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), received toripalimab 240 mg every 3 weeks in part B.

Introduction In idiopathic scoliosis surgery, studies have shown two attending surgeons have better curve correction, pain, and recovery time. There is conflicting evidence on operative time, blood loss, infection rate, and hospital length of stay. Limited literature examines the impact of surgeon experience on the dual approach.

Sleep Disturbance and Postconcussive Symptoms in Pediatric Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and Orthopedic Injury.

Objective: Sleep disturbance (SD) is common after pediatric mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and may predict increased postconcussive symptoms (PCS) and prolonged recovery. Our objective was to investigate the relation of SD with PCS in children with mTBI and those with orthopedic injury (OI).

Setting: Emergency departments (EDs) at 2 children's hospitals in the Midwestern United States.

Diabetes Endothelial Keratoplasty Study: Methods and Impact on the Use of Corneas From Donors With Diabetes for Descemet Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty.

Purpose: Describe aims, methods, characteristics of donors, donor corneas and recipients, and potential impact of the Diabetes Endothelial Keratoplasty Study (DEKS).

Methods: The DEKS is a randomized, clinical trial to assess graft success and endothelial cell density (ECD) 1 year after Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) using corneas from donors with versus without diabetes in a 1:2 minimization assignment. Diabetes severity in the donor is assessed by medical history, postmortem HbA1c, and donor skin advanced glycation end-products and oxidation markers.

Automated Incidental Findings Notification Through the Electronic Health Record Utilizing Dictation Macros.

The objective of this study is to implement an actionable incidental findings (AIFs) communication workflow integrated into the electronic health record (EHR) using dictation macros to improve the quality of radiology reports and facilitate delivery of findings to clinicians. The workflow was implemented across an academic multi-hospital health system and used by over 100 radiologists from 12 divisions. Standardized macros were created for different organ systems including the thyroid, lungs, liver, pancreas, spleen, kidney, female reproductive, and others, designed based on the ACR Novel Quality Measure Set.
