Pediatric hand traumas are common injuries in childhood. The incidence and type of injury vary with age. In our country, there are only two publications in which only crush is examined in etiology.

Emergent Carotid Stenting During Thrombectomy in Tandem Occlusions Secondary to Dissection: A STOP-CAD Secondary Study.

The optimal endovascular management of cervical carotid dissection causing tandem occlusion remains uncertain. We investigated the impact of emergent carotid stenting during endovascular treatment (EVT) for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in patients with tandem occlusion secondary to cervical carotid artery dissection. This was a secondary analysis of patients treated with EVT for AIS due to occlusive carotid artery dissection and tandem occlusion included in the retrospective international Antithrombotic Treatment for Stroke Prevention in Cervical Artery Dissection (STOP-CAD) study.

Transfusion in trauma: empiric or guided therapy?

A state of the art lecture titled "Transfusion therapy in trauma-what to give? Empiric vs guided" was presented at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis Congress in 2024. Uncontrolled bleeding is the commonest preventable cause of death after traumatic injury. Hemostatic resuscitation is the foundation of contemporary transfusion practice for traumatic bleeding and has 2 main aims: to immediately support the circulating blood volume and to treat/prevent the associated trauma-induced coagulopathy.

In response to injury within the central nervous system, GABA promotes cortical plasticity and represents a potential pharmacological target to improve functional recovery. However, it is unclear how GABA changes in the brain after traumatic brachial plexus injuries (tBPIs) which represents the rationale for this pilot study.

Influence of kinesiophobia on activity, function, and anxiety levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes joint inflammation and affects quality of life. Appropriate physical activity can enhance joint function and lower cardiovascular disease risk. However, individuals with RA often have reduced physical activity levels, likely due to kinesiophobia, or fear of movement.

The mediating effect of clinical belongingness on the relationship between anxiety and professional identity in nursing interns: a cross-sectional study.

Background: Previous studies have reported that anxiety negatively affects professional identity (PI), and clinical belongingness is positively correlated with PI among nursing interns. However, little is known about the relationship between anxiety, PI, and clinical belongingness among nursing interns.

Objective: To explore the relationship between PI, clinical belongingness, and anxiety among nursing interns, and to demonstrate the mediating role of clinical belongingness in this relationship.

Health-Related Quality of Life in Long COVID: Mapping the Condition-Specific C19-YRSm Measure Onto the EQ-5D-5L.

Background: Long COVID (LC) is a clinical syndrome with persistent, fluctuating symptoms subsequent to COVID-19 infection. LC has significant detrimental effects on health-related quality of life (HRQoL), activities of daily living (ADL), and work productivity. Condition-specific patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), such as the modified COVID-19 Yorkshire Rehabilitation Scale (C19-YRSm) do not provide the health utility data required for cost-utility analyses of LC interventions.

Effect of central sensitization on postoperative cognitive dysfunction in total knee arthroplasty patients: a retrospective study.

Background: Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a common complication after total knee arthroplasty (TKA), impacting recovery and quality of life. This study aims to investigate central sensitization (CS) as an independent risk factor for POCD to improve preoperative screening and postoperative interventions.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 142 TKA patients from January 2020 to May 2024 across three hospitals.

This study aims to comprehensively evaluate the health effect of relaxing entry regulation for private hospitals and to examine its nonlinear characteristics.

Methods: Using panel data from 31 provinces in mainland China, this study employs a fixed effects panel data model to investigate the health effect of relaxing entry regulation for private hospitals.

Introduction: In high-altitude cities located above 2,500 m, hospitals face a concerning mortality rate of over 50% among intensive care unit (ICU) patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This elevated mortality rate is largely due to the absence of altitude-specific medical protocols that consider the unique physiological adaptations of high-altitude residents to hypoxic conditions. Introduction: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a common genetic heart disorder. It is characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy and impaired cardiac function, with forms categorized into obstructive (oHCM) and nonobstructive (nHCM). Traditional treatments address symptoms but not the underlying disease mechanism, highlighting the need for novel therapies.

The Economic Implications of Psychosocial Peer Support for Health Workers in German Hospitals.

Purpose: The objective of this study is to evaluate whether the nationwide establishment and institutionalization of a peer-support program, is economically justified given the potential positive effects on the Second Victim Phenomenon (SVP) among healthcare professionals in Germany.

Methods: A comprehensive methodological approach was employed, using data from the SeViD studies to assess the prevalence and duration of SVP among physicians and nurses in Germany. Economic impact assessments were conducted to estimate the potential cost savings associated with implementing a peer-support program.

The health and economic benefits of breastfeeding for mothers, infants and the broader community are well established; however, breastfeeding rates remain suboptimal in Singapore. This commentary reviews the journey Singapore, a high-income and well-resourced country, has taken over the past two decades to promote breastfeeding. Objectives: Disease-related malnutrition (DRM) presents in up to half of adults and one-third of children admitted to Canadian hospitals and significantly impacts health outcomes. Strategies to screen, diagnose and treat DRM exist but policy to facilitate implementation and sustainability are lacking. The Promotion of Physical Activity by Health Professionals (PROMOTE-PA) study is a hybrid type I effectiveness-implementation cluster randomised controlled trial evaluating the effectiveness of support for physical activity promotion by health professionals on physical activity participation of patients. Health professionals delivering outpatient healthcare services within four local health districts and one specialty health network in New South Wales, Australia will be included.

Anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)-associated vasculitides are a group of rare diseases that cause inflammation of small to medium vessels. They comprise granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA), and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA). As the signs and symptoms are varied, the diagnosis of vasculitis is complex and challenging; however, there are type-specific clinical presentations that can be factored into the existing classification criteria.

Large annotated ultrasound dataset of non-alcoholic fatty liver from Saudi hospitals for analysis and applications.

This study presents a comprehensive ultrasound image dataset for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), addressing the critical need for standardized resources in AI-assisted diagnosis. The dataset comprises 10,352 high-resolution ultrasound images from 384 patients collected at King Saud University Medical City and National Guard Health Affairs in Saudi Arabia. Each image is meticulously annotated with NAFLD Activity Score (NAS) fibrosis staging and steatosis grading based on corresponding liver biopsy results.

The relationship between impostor phenomenon and emotional exhaustion among Chinese nurses: the mediating role of bi-directional work-family conflict.

Aims: The study aims to explore the relationship between impostor phenomenon and emotional exhaustion among nurses and to examine the potential mediating role of bi-directional work-family conflict.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey using convenience sampling was conducted from January to April 2023, involving 4,088 Chinese nurses. Of those, 3,977 nurses across 43 public hospitals completed the web-based survey that included a sociodemographic information questionnaire, the short Clance Impostor Phenomenon Scale, the Bi-directional Scale of Work-Family Conflict, and the Emotional Exhaustion Scale.

Prediction of tuberculosis-specific mortality for older adult patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.
