Background: Immunodeficiency is a shared feature of B cell malignancies. The risk of infections and their prognostic significance after diagnosis are well characterized, but, conversely, less is known about prediagnostic infections in these domains.
Methods: In matched case-control analyzes, using Danish nationwide registers, we assessed the rate of prediagnostic infections in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL), multiple myeloma (MM), follicular lymphoma (FL), marginal zone lymphoma (MZL), and lymphoplasmacytic lymphoma (LPL).

Objective: This scoping review aims to identify and map interventions and/or strategies used to support the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding for women at risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not breastfeeding due to low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic challenges in high-income countries.
Introduction: While breastfeeding has lifelong beneficial health effects for women and infants, there is a risk of delaying initiation, early cessation, or not initiating breastfeeding at all due to factors related to health inequalities, such as low levels of education, psychosocial problems, and/or socioeconomic constraints.
Inclusion Criteria: This review will include eligible quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods studies, as well as systematic reviews and gray literature.

Background & Aims: Alcohol-related hepatitis (AH) and alcohol-related cirrhosis are grave conditions with poor prognoses. Altered hepatic lipid metabolism can impact disease development and varies between different alcohol-related liver diseases. Therefore, we aimed to investigate lipidomics and metabolomics at various stages of alcohol-related liver diseases and their correlation with survival.

Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a disease with an unmet need for treatment.
Objective: To examine tolerability, safety and efficacy of oral phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibitior orismilast 10-40 mg twice daily (BID) in HS.
Methods: A Phase 2a, single-arm, single-centre, open-label, 16-week trial in HS patients.

Introduction: The aim of this report was to assess the skeletal, dental and soft tissue changes in a juvenile patient with a severe class III malocclusion. This case report describes a novel method of class III treatment using skeletal anchorage for maxillary protraction and Alt-RAMEC protocol.
Patient Concerns: The patient did not have any subjective complaints before treatment and there was no family history of class III malocclusion.

Juvenile polyposis syndrome (JPS) is a hereditary hamartomatous polyposis syndrome characterized by gastrointestinal juvenile polyps and increased risk of gastrointestinal cancer. Germline pathogenic variants are detected in SMAD4 or BMPR1A, however in a significant number of patients with JPS, the etiology is unknown. From Danish registers, and genetic department and laboratories, we identified all patients in Denmark with a clinical diagnosis of JPS and/or a pathogenic variant in BMPR1A or SMAD4.

Chronic kidney diseases imply an ongoing need to remove toxins, with hemodialysis as the preferred treatment modality. We derive analytical expressions for phosphate clearance during dialysis, the single pass (SP) model corresponding to a standard clinical hemodialysis and the multi pass (MP) model, where dialysate is recycled and therefore makes a smaller clinical setting possible such as a transportable dialysis suitcase. For both cases we show that the convective contribution to the dialysate is negligible for the phosphate kinetics and derive simpler expressions.

Introduction: There is a substantial risk of developing stenosis and dysfunction in the arteriovenous fistula (AVF) in patients on hemodialysis (HD). Far infrared radiation (FIR) is a non-invasive local intervention with a potentially beneficial effect on AVF patency. The underlying mechanism is not clear.

Vulvar cancer is rare, but causes substantial morbidity in affected patients. A subset of vulvar cancers is caused by high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV), which primarily exerts its oncogenic effect through upregulation of tumor suppressor protein p16. Tumors positive for both hrHPV and p16 (double positive) are assumed to be HPV-driven, but only few large studies have investigated the combined prevalence of hrHPV and p16 positivity in vulvar cancer over time.

Background: Magnitude-squared coherence (MSCOH) is an electroencephalography (EEG) measure of functional connectivity. MSCOH has been widely applied to investigate pathological changes in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, significant heterogeneity exists between the studies using MSOCH.

Introduction: The age and number of comorbidities in the hemodialysis population has increased over time. This may influence the construction and survival of the arteriovenous fistula (AVF). The present study explored the incidence and survival of AVFs over a period of 39 years.

Background: An arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is the preferred vascular access for hemodialysis treatment. After creation many of the AVFs will never mature or if functioning will need an intervention within 1 year due to an AVF stenosis. Studies investigating possible therapies that improves the AVF maturation and survival are scarce.

Aim: Low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) is common after low anterior resection. Our aim was to evaluate the prevalence and 'bother' (subjective, symptom-associated distress) of major LARS after 1 and 2 years, identify possible risk factors and relate the bowel function to a reference population.
Method: The QoLiRECT (Quality of Life in RECTal cancer) study is a Scandinavian prospective multicentre study including 1248 patients with rectal cancer, of whom 552 had an anterior resection.

Neurological Department, University Hospital of Zealand - Roskilde, Denmark.
Purpose: Differentiating between epileptic seizures, convulsive syncope or non-epileptic seizures is a common diagnostic challenge in the acute setting. Plasma-lactate levels have previously been proposed as a tool to aid in differentiating between epileptic and non-epileptic seizures, with lower levels of lactate suggesting a non-epileptic origin. The aim of this study was to investigate levels of lactate in non-epileptic seizures.

Background: Dyslipidaemia and low-grade inflammation are central in atherogenesis and linked to overweight and physical inactivity. Lifestyle changes are important in secondary prevention of coronary artery disease (CAD). We compared the effects of combined weight loss and interval training with interval training alone on physical fitness, body composition, dyslipidaemia and low-grade inflammation in overweight, sedentary participants with CAD.

Illness stories are a prime analytical way of understanding patient perspectives on cancer. Nevertheless, limited studies have focused on stories of endometrial cancer. An ethnographic study including participant observation and interviews among 18 Danish women with endometrial cancer was conducted to examine prevalent stories and the ways the women responded to them.

Upper tract urinary carcinoma (UTUC) and bladder cancer (BCa) share similar biological, histological and pathological characteristics. These resemblances could explain the high rate of synchronous and metachronous tumors affecting both upper urinary tract and bladder. In patients affected by primary UTUC bladder recurrence is quite common and it represents one of the major concerns during the follow-up of patients who underwent radical nephroureterectomy.

Introduction: Over the past 50 years women and men have postponed family formation in high-income societies. Fertility assessment and counselling has been suggested as a method to reduce delayed childbearing and its consequences. This study explored women's perceptions of how attending a fertility assessment intervention influenced their decisions and choices regarding family formation and childbearing.

Men and women are increasingly postponing childbearing until an age where fertility has decreased, meaning that they might have difficulties in achieving their desired family size. This study explored childless men's attitudes towards family formation. Data were collected through semi-structured qualitative interviews with 21 men attending the Fertility Assessment and Counselling Clinic in Copenhagen or Horsens, Denmark.
