Purpose: Patients with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) commonly experience sleep-related issues and are susceptible to stress. Moreover, variatiaons in their vision are often linked to anxiety, stress and drowsiness, indicating that stress and sleep deprivation lead to a decline in vision, and vision improves when both are mitigated. The objective of this study was to investigate the utility of salivary biomarkers as biochemical indicators of anxiety and sleep deprivation in RP patients.

A reduced order model formulation for left atrium flow: an atrial fibrillation case.

A data-driven reduced order model (ROM) based on a proper orthogonal decomposition-radial basis function (POD-RBF) approach is adopted in this paper for the analysis of blood flow dynamics in a patient-specific case of atrial fibrillation (AF). The full order model (FOM) is represented by incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, discretized with a finite volume (FV) approach. Background: The study of the cortical functional network properties in schizophrenia (SZ) may benefit from the use of graph theory parameters applied to high-density electroencephalography (EEG). Connectivity Strength (CS) assesses global synchrony of the network, and Shannon Graph Complexity (SGC) summarizes the network distribution of link weights and allows distinguishing between primary and secondary pathways. Their joint use may help in understanding the underpinnings of the functional network hyperactivation and task-related hypomodulation previously described in psychoses.

Background: The medical community is beginning to recognize that retinitis pigmentosa (RP), due to its disabling progression, eventually leads to a reduction in the patient´s quality of life, a direct economic impact, and an increase in the burden on the health care system. There is no curative treatment for the origin of the disease, and most of the current interventions fail in reducing the associated negative psychological states, such as anxiety and depression, which lead to increased variability of vision and pose a continuous threat to the patient's independence.

Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the effect of oral melatonin (OM) administration alone and combined with short-wavelength light (SWL)-blocking filters on patients with RP and test their effectiveness in improving the level of stress and sleep problems in many of these patients.

This paper reviews the most important issues in the approach to this process, such as an aetiologic update using new molecular platforms or imaging techniques, including the diagnostic stewardship in different clinical settings.

The terminology surrounding the clinical syndrome characterized by acute mucositis with minimal skin involvement has been a subject of debate over time. In recent years, terms such as mycoplasma-induced rash and mucositis and reactive infectious mucocutaneous eruption (RIME) have been introduced to encompass milder mucocutaneous diseases associated with respiratory infections, with implications for management and prognosis. We report the first case of recurrent RIME associated with Chlamydophila pneumoniae infection in an adult patient.
