Background: Stroke is the leading cause of acquired motor deficiencies in adults. Restoring prehension abilities is challenging for individuals who have not recovered active hand opening capacities after their rehabilitation. Self-triggered functional electrical stimulation applied to finger extensor muscles to restore grasping abilities in daily life is called grasp neuroprosthesis (GNP) and remains poorly accessible to the post-stroke population.

Methods: Design of a questionnaire composed of seven sections and fifty questions covering descriptive data of participants, practitioners experience procedural sequences, considerations related to airways, feeding, and voice, intraoperative haemorrhage, postoperative management, and a comparative analysis of TLM and TORS in treating supraglottic laryngeal cancer.

Resting tremor (RT) is a Parkinson's disease (PD) symptom with an unclear relationship to the dopaminergic system. We analysed data from 432 subjects from the Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative, 57 additional PD patients and controls and 86 subjects referred for dopamine transporter single-photon emission computed tomography (DaT-SPECT). Caudate binding ratio (CBR), but not putamen binding ratio, was higher in RT patients.

Stroke due to small-vessel disease and migraine: A case-control study of a young adult with ischemic stroke population.

Background: Migraine with aura (MWA) is a risk factor for stroke, but the mechanisms underlying this association remain unclear. Our aim was to assess the association between MWA and cerebral small-vessel disease (CSVD) ischemic stroke after adjustment for vascular risk factors in a population of young patients hospitalized for a first-ever ischemic stroke.

Background: Increased time from symptom onset to puncture (TSOP) and time from puncture to reperfusion (TPTR) are associated with worse outcome in ischemic stroke patients treated with endovascular therapy (EVT) in the early time window (<6 h). However, these associations are less described in the late window (>6 h), where patients may benefit from EVT because of a more favorable imaging profile (late window paradox). We sought to compare the effect of these timeframes between these two periods on efficacy and safety outcomes.

Epidemiological studies indicate a potential correlation between the consumption of polyphenols and a reduced risk of developing cardiovascular disorders. The present study investigates the potential of a red wine polyphenol oral extract, Provinols™, to reduce neointimal hyperplasia following angioplasty in a hypercholesterolemic rabbit model. New Zealand white rabbits were fed 1% cholesterol-enriched chow for a period of eight weeks prior to the induction of iliac balloon injury and subsequent stent placement.

Universal newborn screening using genome sequencing: early experience from the GUARDIAN study.

For more than 20 years there has been speculation about a future in which newborns are routinely screened at birth for genetic disorders using genome sequencing, but prospective large-scale studies assessing this vision have only recently begun. Genome sequencing may provide a means of expanding the scope of conditions included in newborn screening programs and improving the positive predictive value of traditional newborn screening. However, the use of genome sequencing for newborn screening has also raised concerns including acceptability, equity, and scalability.

We report on using a pedicled posterior brachial perforator flap to cover a defect of the infraspinous fossa. The first description of the posterior brachial flap came from Masquelet in 1985, and there are very few reports of this flap in the literature, mainly in its pedicled form limited to axillary covers. Scapular soft tissue defect with bone exposure can be covered by several techniques.
