Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is one of the leading causes of death in patients with cancer. Currently, there is a need to develop an easily applicable risk model that can identify patients who will benefit from receiving primary thromboprophylaxis to reduce the incidence of VTE.
Patients And Methods: This was a non-interventional, multicenter, observational, prospective study carried out in 62 Oncology and Hematology services in Spain and Portugal between January 2018 and December 2019.

Introduction: Microwave imaging presents several potential advantages including its non-ionising and harmless nature. This open, multicentric, interventional, prospective, non-randomised trial aims to validate MammoWave's artificial intelligence (AI)-based classification algorithm, leveraging microwave imaging, to achieve a sensitivity exceeding 75% and a specificity exceeding 90% in breast screening.
Methods And Analysis: 10 000 volunteers undergoing regular mammographic breast cancer screening will be recruited across 9 European centres and invited to participate in the clinical study, involving MammoWave testing on both breasts.

Purpose: We aimed to develop a nomogram able to predict treatment failure, skeletal events, and overall survival (OS) in patients with castration-resistant prostate cancer with bone metastases (CRPC-BM) treated with Radium-223 dichloride (Ra).
Patients And Methods: Patients from the Castilla-La Mancha Spanish region were prospectively included in the ChoPET-Rad multicenter study from January 2015 to December 2022. Patients underwent baseline, interim, and end-of-treatment bone scintigraphy (BS) and F-Fluorocholine PET/CT (FCH PET/CT) scans, obtaining multiple imaging radiomics as well as clinical and biochemical variables during follow-up and studying their association with the previously defined end-points.

Aims: Sudden cardiac death (SCD) is a serious consequence of a myocardial infarction (MI), but identifying patients at risk of developing SCD remains a major clinical challenge, especially in the case of juvenile MI. The aim of this study is to identify predictors of SCD after early-onset MI using long-term follow-up data relating to a large nationwide patient cohort.
Methods And Results: The Italian Genetic Study on Early-onset MI enrolled 2000 patients experiencing a first MI before the age of 45 years, who were followed up for a median of 19.

Introduction: Persistent post-COVID olfactory dysfunction continues to be studied due to the controversy in its pathophysiology and neuroimaging.
Materials And Methods: The patients had confirmed mild COVID-19 infection with olfactory dysfunction of more than one month of evolution and they were compared to controls with normal olfaction, assessed using the Sniffin' Sticks Olfactory Test and underwent brain, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the olfactory bulb and olfactory function.
Results: A total of 8 patients and 2 controls participated.

The follow-up of glioma patients after therapeutic intervention remains a challenging topic, as therapy-related changes can emulate true progression in contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging. F-fluoroethyl-tyrosine (F-FET) is a radiopharmaceutical that accumulates in glioma cells due to an increased expression of L-amino acid transporters and, contrary to gadolinium, does not depend on blood-brain barrier disruption to reach tumoral cells. It has demonstrated a high diagnostic value in the differentiation of tumoral viability and pseudoprogression or any other therapy-related changes, especially when combining traditional visual analysis with modern radiomics.

Background: Recent randomized trials have demonstrated the efficacy of mechanical thrombectomy in treating acute ischemic stroke, however, further research is required to optimize this technique. We aimed to evaluate the impact of guide catheter position and clot crossing on revascularization rates using A Direct Aspiration First Pass Technique (ADAPT).
Methods: Data were collected between January 2018 and August 2019 as part of the Spanish ADAPT Registry on ACE catheters (SARA), a multicenter observational study assessing real-world thrombectomy outcomes.

Purpose: To analyse diagnostic and therapeutic impact of molecular imaging TNM (miTNM) stage obtained with [F]DCFPyL versus [F]F-choline in head-to-head comparison in biochemical recurrence (BCR) of prostate cancer (PCa).
Material And Methods: Patients with BCR of PCa after radical treatment with previous [F]F-choline-PET/CT (negative or oligometastatic disease) were recruited to [F]DCFPyL-PET/CT. Patients were classified according to: grade group, European Association of Urology classification, PSA, PSA doubling time (PSAdt) and PSA velocity (PSAvel).

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common tumours worldwide, and 70% of CRC patients are over 65 years of age. However, the scientific evidence available for these patients is poor, as they are underrepresented in clinical trials. Therefore, a group of experts from the Oncogeriatrics Section of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), the Spanish Cooperative Group for the Treatment of Digestive Tumours, (TTD) and the Multidisciplinary Spanish Group of Digestive Cancer (GEMCAD) have reviewed the scientific evidence available in older patients with CRC.

Background Administration of intravenous (IV) solutions constitutes a key component of acute kidney injury (AKI) management. However, the optimal IV fluid solution in the setting of AKI remains uncertain. In this study, we assessed whether the use of bicarbonate-containing solution in patients with established AKI is associated with early renal recovery as compared to bicarbonate-free solutions.

Progranulin (PGRN) is a glycoprotein formed by 593 amino acids encoded by the GRN gene. It has an important role in immunity and inflammatory response, as well as in tissue recovery. Its role in musculoskeletal inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and intervertebral disc degeneration disease (IVDD), is, nowadays, an important target to investigate.

Due to their rarity and heterogeneity and despite the introduction of molecular features in the current WHO classification, clinical criteria such as those from the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) are still being used to make treatment decisions in low-grade gliomas (LGG). Patients with diffuse low-grade glioma treated at our institution between 2002 and 2018 were analyzed, retrieving and assessing the degree of consistency between the EORTC and RTOG criteria, as well as the isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 (IDH) gene mutational status. Likewise, multivariate analyses were performed to ascertain the superiority of any of the factors over the others.

Background: Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often suffer episodes of exacerbation of symptoms (ECOPD) that may eventually require hospitalisation due to several, often overlapping, causes. We aimed to analyse the characteristics of patients hospitalised because of ECOPD in a real-life setting using a "big data" approach.
Methods: The study population included all patients over 40 years old with a diagnosis of COPD (n=69 359; prevalence 3.

Background: The ideal objective of treating a person with epilepsy is to induce remission (free of seizures for some time) using antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) and withdraw the AEDs without causing seizure recurrence. Prolonged usage of AEDs may have long-term adverse effects. Hence, when a person with epilepsy is in remission, it is logical to attempt to discontinue the medication.

Case: A 41-year-old man sustained a midshaft clavicle fracture with associated type IV ipsilateral acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation. The clavicle was fixed with a locking plate and ACJ stabilized with a novel technique: 2 metal anchors with preloaded suture fixed at the coracoid process, looping the sutures over the clavicle, and passing through the plate holes without clavicle bone drilling. Excellent functional outcomes for range of motion, pain, and functional scores persisted 2 and a half years after surgery.

Synovial fistula and cyst formation after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is very unusual and almost always affects the tibia. Only 3 cases originating in the femur have been reported. We present a rare case of late-onset femoral cyst formation related to ACL reconstruction.
