To determine the characteristics and to compare the functional outcomes and safety of different subfrontal approaches versus mini Pterional (MPT) approaches mainly for the treatment of ruptured noncomplex intracranial aneurysms. This meta-analysis included articles comparing outcomes of brain aneurysms (BAs) - most for the anterior circulation-, using Lateral supraorbital & Supraorbital keyhole (LSO) versus MPT approach. There were six articles left into the final article pool and the total number of patients was 683 (322 in LSO and 361 in the MPT group).

Objectives: COVID-19 has evolved into a global health crisis, variably affecting the management of patients with chronic illnesses. Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may represent a vulnerable population due to frequent administration of immune-modifying treatments. We aimed to depict the natural history of COVID-19 infection in Greek patients with IBD at a nationwide level via unbiased reporting of all cases that were registered during the sequential waves of the pandemic.

Upper limb dysfunction is common damage after stroke posing an important challenge for post-stroke rehabilitation but little is known about the effects of combined therapy with acupuncture and experiential/traditional music during the standard care of rehabilitation exercise program. The aim of this study, therefore, was to systematically assess the effects of exercise rehabilitation program accompanied by experiential music or/+ acupuncture for clinical recovery on post-stroke upper limb dysfunction. This was a randomized controlled study with a total of 116 eligible subjects randomly divided into three groups, namely (1) MG group-(daily listening to experiential/traditional music), (2) AP/MG group (combined treatment with daily listening to experiential/traditional music and AP), and (3) CG group (with no experiential/traditional music therapy or acupuncture (standard care only), in a 1.

Background: Due to the lack of high-quality evidence which has hindered the development of evidence-based guidelines, there is a need to provide general guidance on cranioplasty (CP) following traumatic brain injury (TBI), as well as identify areas of ongoing uncertainty via a consensus-based approach.

Methods: The international consensus meeting on post-traumatic CP was held during the International Conference on Recent Advances in Neurotraumatology (ICRAN), in Naples, Italy, in June 2018. This meeting was endorsed by the Neurotrauma Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), the NIHR Global Health Research Group on Neurotrauma, and several other neurotrauma organizations.

Dysfunction of the facial nerve is frequently attributed to inflammation, followed by traumatic injury. Knowledge of the complex anatomical course of the facial nerve is critical to localize the site of pathology and for successful management. The multiplicity of etiologies and its complex anatomy often make facial paralysis a diagnostic challenge.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are regarded as harbingers of metastases. Their ability to predict response to therapy, relapse, and resistance to treatment has proposed their value as putative diagnostic and prognostic indicators. CTCs represent one of the zeniths of cancer evolution in terms of cell survival; however, the triggers of CTC generation, the identification of potentially metastatic CTCs, and the mechanisms contributing to their heterogeneity and aggressiveness represent issues not yet fully deciphered.

Background: P-element-induced-wimpy-testis-(PIWI)-like proteins are implicated in germ cells' regulation and detected in numerous cancer types. In this meta-analysis, we aimed to associate, for the first time, the prognosis in cancer patients with intratumoral expression of PIWI family proteins.

Methods: PubMed, Embase, and Web of Knowledge databases were searched, and studies investigating the association between intratumoral mRNA or protein expression of different PIWI family proteins and survival, metastasis, or recurrence of various cancer types were reviewed.

Background: Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) is generally a benign disease but has the potential for rare and fatal complications. Vascular signs and symptoms associated with NF1 are reported in only 1-3% of patients. Pulmonary complications have been rarely described in the literature and spontaneous rupture of a major thoracic artery is, however, extremely uncommon.

Early detection and diagnosis of cerebral vasospasm in subarachnoid hemorrhage may be challenging both on clinical and radiographic grounds. In this respect we conducted a pilot study in order to assess the feasibility of the technique in the everyday setting of a tertiary hospital and to evaluate the diagnostic performance of different diagnostic computed tomography perfusion aspects in diagnosing the clinical outcome of patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. Receiver-operating characteristic analysis showed that a cerebral blood flow value of <24.

Objectives: Capsule endoscopy (CE) remains the examination of choice for the investigation of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding. Although the factors predicting positive CE findings in the overall obscure gastrointestinal bleeding have been investigated, the clinical characteristics that predict a positive CE in patients with past overt obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OOGIB) have not been systematically studied.

Methods: Between September 2004 and December 2013, 262 patients underwent CE for evaluation of past OOGIB after negative upper and lower endoscopy, and other diagnostic modalities.

Peripheral arterial disease is a widely prevalent atherosclerotic occlusive disorder. Symptoms commence with exercise-induced pain in the lower extremities, known as claudication. Despite the fact that exercise has been shown to improve fibrinolytic profile some patients, the effect of exercise on coagulation and fibrinolysis cascades in claudicants has not been comprehensively defined.
