Patients (pts) with asymptomatic low-burden follicular lymphoma (FL) are usually observed at diagnosis. Time to lymphoma treatment (TLT) initiation can however be very heterogeneous and risk factors of progression are poorly studied. Our study evaluated 201 pts with grade 1-3a low-tumor burden FL diagnosed in four French centers between 2010 and 2020 and managed by a watch and wait strategy in real-life settings.

Carbamylation corresponds to the nonenzymatic binding of isocyanic acid to protein amino groups and participates in protein molecular aging, characterized by the alteration of their structural and functional properties. Carbamylated proteins exert deleterious effects in vivo and are involved in the progression of various diseases, including atherosclerosis and chronic kidney disease. Therefore, there is a growing interest in evaluating the carbamylation rate of blood or tissue proteins, since carbamylation-derived products (CDPs) constitute valuable biomarkers in these contexts.

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a severe parasitic infection caused by the ingestion of Echinococcus multilocularis eggs. While higher incidence and faster evolution have been reported in immunosuppressed patients, no studies have been performed specifically on AE in transplant patients. We searched for all de novo AE cases diagnosed between January 2008 and August 2018 in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients included in the Swiss Transplant Cohort Study and the FrancEchino Registry.

Objective: Carboxymethyllysine (CML) and homocitrulline (HCit) are the products of two non-enzymatic post-translational modifications of protein, a process related to age. We investigated whether serum CML and HCit concentrations were associated with hand osteoarthritis (HOA), especially erosive HOA.
Design: Serum CML and HCit were measured by using liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry at inclusion in 386 patients included in the DIGItal Cohort Design (DIGICOD) cohort.

To evaluate the cost-effectiveness of robotic-assisted surgery compared to open surgery in the context of partial nephrectomy for small kidney tumor management. This is a retrospective study using data from 395 patients operated on by either robot-assisted surgery (RAPN) or by open partial nephrectomy (OPN); one hospital performed RAPN exclusively and the second hospital, OPN exclusively. Cost-effectiveness analysis was conducted from the perspective of the National Health Insurance System (NHIS) by considering the costs of the initial hospital stay and the cost of complications.

Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) incidence is high among critically ill COVID-19 patients. Its attributable mortality remains underestimated, especially for unresolved episodes. Indeed, the impact of therapeutic failures and the determinants that potentially affect mortality are poorly evaluated.

Abnormal elevation of thyroid antibodies in the CSF is observed in 62-75% of Hashimoto's encephalopathy cases. However, the relationship between CSF thyroid antibody levels and response to therapy has been poorly evaluated. We report the case of a 68-year-old man with Hashimoto's encephalopathy, in whom there was a relation between the favorable clinical outcome and the disappearance of antithyroid antibodies from the CSF and a decrease in serum thyroid antibodies.

Introduction: Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (SSD) represent one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and are usually underpinned by neurodevelopmental brain abnormalities observed on a structural and functional level. Nuclear medicine imaging studies of cerebral blood flow (CBF) have already provided insights into the pathophysiology of these disorders. Recent developments in non-invasive MRI techniques such as arterial spin labeling (ASL) have allowed broader examination of CBF across SSD prompting us to conduct an updated literature review of MRI-based perfusion studies.

Purpose: We investigated intraoperative OCT (iOCT)-guided epiretinal membrane (ERM) and internal limiting membrane (ILM) removal using a novel forceps with a laser-ablated tip surface; it was designed to help prevent indentation force, shear stress, or tractional trauma when grasping very fine membranes.
Patients And Methods: This retrospective study included patients who underwent 23- and 25-gauge pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for vitreoretinal interface disorders. ERM and ILM peeling was performed under guidance with microscope-integrated iOCT using novel ILM forceps with laser-ablated tip surfaces.

Background And Hypothesis: Previous studies have suggested links between clinical symptoms and theory of mind (ToM) impairments in schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD), but it remains unclear whether some symptoms are more strongly linked to ToM than others.
Study Design: A meta-analysis (Prospero; CRD42021259723) was conducted to quantify and compare the strength of the associations between ToM and the clinical symptoms of SSD (Positive, Negative, Cognitive/Disorganization, Depression/Anxiety, Excitability/Hostility). Studies (N = 130, 137 samples) including people with SSD and reporting a correlation between clinical symptoms and ToM were retrieved from Pubmed, PsycNet, Embase, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Proquest, WorldCat, and Open Gray.

Since its discovery in the late 1960s, HbA has proven to be a major biomarker of diabetes mellitus survey and diagnosis. Other biomarkers have also been described using classical laboratory methods or more innovative, non-invasive ones. All biomarkers of diabetes, including the historical glucose assay, have well-controlled strengths and limitations, determining their indications in clinical use.

Background: Standardized results for laboratory tests are particularly important when their interpretation depends on fixed medical practice guidelines or common reference intervals. The medical laboratory community has developed a roadmap for an infrastructure to achieve standardized test results described in the International Organization for Standardization standard 17511:2020 . Among the challenges to implementing metrological traceability are the availability of fit-for-purpose matrix-based certified reference materials (CRMs) and requirements for regulatory review that differ among countries.

Persistent negative symptoms (PNS) are linked to poor functional outcomes and may be primary or caused by secondary factors. Although several studies have examined PNS in first-episode psychosis (FEP), a comparison with a data-driven approach is lacking. Here, we compared clinically defined PNS subgroups with class trajectories identified through latent growth modeling (LGM).

Background: The modulation of perioperative inflammation seems crucial to improve postoperative morbidity and cancer-related outcomes in patients undergoing oncological surgery. Data from the literature suggest that perioperative corticosteroids decrease inflammatory markers and might be associated with fewer complications in esophageal, liver, pancreatic and colorectal surgery. Their benefit on cancer-related outcomes has not been assessed.
