Patients (pts) with asymptomatic low-burden follicular lymphoma (FL) are usually observed at diagnosis. Time to lymphoma treatment (TLT) initiation can however be very heterogeneous and risk factors of progression are poorly studied. Our study evaluated 201 pts with grade 1-3a low-tumor burden FL diagnosed in four French centers between 2010 and 2020 and managed by a watch and wait strategy in real-life settings.

Measurement of Homocitrulline, A Carbamylation-derived Product, in Serum and Tissues by LC-MS/MS.

Curr Protoc

April 2023

Laboratory of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, CNRS/URCA UMR N°7369 Extracellular Matrix and Cell Dynamics, University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, Reims, France.

Carbamylation corresponds to the nonenzymatic binding of isocyanic acid to protein amino groups and participates in protein molecular aging, characterized by the alteration of their structural and functional properties. Carbamylated proteins exert deleterious effects in vivo and are involved in the progression of various diseases, including atherosclerosis and chronic kidney disease. Therefore, there is a growing interest in evaluating the carbamylation rate of blood or tissue proteins, since carbamylation-derived products (CDPs) constitute valuable biomarkers in these contexts.

Abnormal elevation of thyroid antibodies in the CSF is observed in 62-75% of Hashimoto's encephalopathy cases. However, the relationship between CSF thyroid antibody levels and response to therapy has been poorly evaluated. We report the case of a 68-year-old man with Hashimoto's encephalopathy, in whom there was a relation between the favorable clinical outcome and the disappearance of antithyroid antibodies from the CSF and a decrease in serum thyroid antibodies.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study looked at circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with stage II colorectal cancer (CRC) who had surgery, using data from the PROGIGE 13 trial.
  • - Researchers matched patients who had recurrent cancer with those who did not, and analyzed ctDNA from blood samples using digital PCR to check for its impact on disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS).
  • - Results showed that ctDNA was more commonly found in patients whose cancer returned, with lower DFS and OS rates for those with detectable ctDNA, indicating a strong link between postoperative ctDNA presence and cancer recurrence or death.

Introduction: Schizophrenia-spectrum disorders (SSD) represent one of the leading causes of disability worldwide and are usually underpinned by neurodevelopmental brain abnormalities observed on a structural and functional level. Nuclear medicine imaging studies of cerebral blood flow (CBF) have already provided insights into the pathophysiology of these disorders. Recent developments in non-invasive MRI techniques such as arterial spin labeling (ASL) have allowed broader examination of CBF across SSD prompting us to conduct an updated literature review of MRI-based perfusion studies.

Background And Hypothesis: Previous studies have suggested links between clinical symptoms and theory of mind (ToM) impairments in schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD), but it remains unclear whether some symptoms are more strongly linked to ToM than others.

Study Design: A meta-analysis (Prospero; CRD42021259723) was conducted to quantify and compare the strength of the associations between ToM and the clinical symptoms of SSD (Positive, Negative, Cognitive/Disorganization, Depression/Anxiety, Excitability/Hostility). Studies (N = 130, 137 samples) including people with SSD and reporting a correlation between clinical symptoms and ToM were retrieved from Pubmed, PsycNet, Embase, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, Proquest, WorldCat, and Open Gray.
