Background: Primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare services in Europe create complex networks covering pediatric subspecialties, sociology, economics and politics. Two surveys of the European Society for Paediatric Nephrology (ESPN) in 1998 and 2017 revealed substantial disparities of kidney care among European countries. Purpose Of Review: This review discusses current evidence and future perspectives for use of SLT2 inhibitors in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs).

Recent Findings: Sodium-Glucose-Transporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) lower plasma glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes, and protect against heart failure and progression of chronic kidney disease by a glucose-independent mechanism. Most of the current studies with SGLT2is in kidney transplant patients are however short-term retrospective case studies.

PCR of TCR/Ig gene rearrangements is considered the method of choice for minimal residual disease (MRD) quantification in BCP-ALL, but flow cytometry analysis of leukemia-associated immunophenotypes (FCM-MRD) is faster and biologically more informative. FCM-MRD performed in 18 laboratories across seven countries was used for risk stratification of 1487 patients with BCP-ALL enrolled in the NOPHO ALL2008 protocol. When no informative FCM-marker was available, risk stratification was based on real-time quantitative PCR.

Resting heart rate (rHR) and heart rate variability (HRV) are non-invasive measurements that predict the risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Marine -3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplementation may decrease rHR, increase HRV, and reduce the risk of SCD. To date, no studies have investigated the effect of marine -3 PUFA on HRV in renal transplant recipients.

Background: When transplanted human pancreatic islets are exposed to blood during intraportal infusion, an innate immune response is triggered. This instant blood-mediated inflammatory reaction (IBMIR) activates the coagulation and complement cascades and leads to the destruction of 25% of all transplanted islets within minutes, contributing to the need, in most patients, for islets from more than 1 donor. Unlabelled: From 2001 to 2015, 11 wrists in 11 patients with osteoarthritis of the wrist had failed wrist arthroplasties, which were subsequently converted to arthrodesis using intercalated corticocancellous autograft from the iliac crest and fixation with an arthrodesis plate or a customized peg. Clinical and radiological bone union was achieved in all the operated wrists. At final follow-up of ten patients after 6 years, they had a substantial reduction in pain and improvement in daily function and grip strength compared with those before arthrodesis.

We assessed whether insulin sensitivity improved after renal denervation (RDN) for resistant hypertension. Twenty-three patients underwent a two-step hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic clamp (HEC) with glucose tracer and labeled glucose infusion and oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) before and 6 months after RDN.
