Risk Factors for Artificial Urinary Sphincter Explantation and Erosion in Male Nonneurological Patients.

Purpose: This study was performed to assess the risk factors for artificial urinary sphincter (AUS) explantation in a large multicenter cohort.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records for all 1,233 implantations of the AMS-800 AUS device in male nonneurological patients from 2005 to 2020 across 13 French centers. Patients with neurological conditions were excluded from the study.

Real-world outcomes of combined lenvatinib and anti-PD-1 in advanced melanoma: the Lenvamel study, a multicenter retrospective study of the French Group of Skin Cancers (Groupe de Cancérologie Cutanée).

Background: Currently, treatment options for patients with advanced melanoma who experience failed immunotherapy or targeted therapy are lacking. Recent studies suggest the antitumor activity of combined pembrolizumab and lenvatinib in patients with advanced melanoma progressing on immunotherapy. Herein, we report the clinical outcomes of combined lenvatinib and a programmed cell death protein-1 inhibitor (PD-1) in this population.

Effect of the 1-h bundle on mortality in patients with suspected sepsis in the emergency department: a stepped wedge cluster randomized clinical trial.

Purpose: The efficacy of the 1-h bundle for emergency department (ED) patients with suspected sepsis, which includes lactate measurement, blood culture, broad-spectrum antibiotics administration, administration of 30 mL/kg crystalloid fluid for hypotension or lactate ≥ 4 mmol/L, remains controversial.

Methods: We carried out a pragmatic stepped-wedge cluster-randomized trial in 23 EDs in France and Spain. Adult patients with Sepsis-3 criteria or a quick sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score ≥ 2 or a lactate > 2 mmol/L were eligible.

DentalSegmentator: Robust open source deep learning-based CT and CBCT image segmentation.

Objectives: Segmentation of anatomical structures on dento-maxillo-facial (DMF) computed tomography (CT) or cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans is increasingly needed in digital dentistry. The main aim of this research was to propose and evaluate a novel open source tool called DentalSegmentator for fully automatic segmentation of five anatomical structures on DMF CT and CBCT scans: maxilla/upper skull, mandible, upper teeth, lower teeth, and the mandibular canal.

Methods: A retrospective sample of 470 CT and CBCT scans was used as a training/validation set.

Background: Although sleeve gastrectomy (SG) is associated with excellent results in the short term, it has been shown that it is plagued by weight regain and new onset or worsening of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). These 2 clinical conditions are currently the 2 most frequent indications for revisional surgery. To date, only a few studies have focused exclusively on GERD.

From Early to Mid-Term Results of Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty: A Retrospective Analysis of a Bariatric Center.

Purpose: Global obesity rates have surged, necessitating effective interventions beyond traditional bariatric and metabolic surgery (BMS). Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative, addressing limitations of eligibility criteria and patient reluctance associated with BMS. This study aims to present a 3-year experience with ESG, focusing on its mid-term efficacy in weight loss.

Efficacy and safety of targeted therapies in VEXAS syndrome: retrospective study from the FRENVEX.

Objectives: Vacuoles, E1 enzyme, X-linked, autoinflammatory and somatic (VEXAS) syndrome is an adult-onset autoinflammatory disease associated with somatic ubiquitin-like modifier-activating enzyme 1 (UBA1) mutations. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of targeted therapies.

Methods: Multicentre retrospective study including patients with genetically proven VEXAS syndrome who had received at least one targeted therapy.

Use of Artificial Intelligence With Deep Learning Approaches for the Follow-up of Infrarenal Endovascular Aortic Repair.

Introduction: Endoleaks represent one of the main complications after endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) and can lead to increased re-intervention rates and secondary rupture. Serial lifelong surveillance is required and traditionally involves cross-sectional imaging with manual axial measurements. Artificial intelligence (AI)-based imaging analysis has been developed and may provide a more precise and faster assessment.

Dental Adverse Effects of Anti-CD20 Therapies.

Introduction: Over the past few years, anti-CD20 therapies like rituximab, ocrelizumab or ofatumumab have seen an increase in interest in the treatment of neurological autoimmune disorders such as multiple sclerosis (MS), neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), or resistant forms of generalized myasthenia gravis (MG). They are generally well-tolerated, but recent reports have highlighted severe dental disorders in patients undergoing anti-CD20 therapies. The aim was to describe a series of cases and to compare with the available scientific literature.

Is topical antibiotic use necessary to prevent surgical site infection following oculoplastic surgery?

Purpose: To assess whether oculoplastic surgeries can be performed without any topical and systemic antibiotics, in a "100% antibiotic free" fashion.

Method: We conducted a multicenter retrospective study between November 2017 and December 2022. Patients who underwent an oculoplastic procedure were screened.

Improvement of diffusion tensor imaging-based tractography by free-water correction in nonedematous gliomas: assessment with brain mapping.

Objective: The free-water correction algorithm (Freewater Estimator Using Interpolated Initialization [FERNET]) can be applied to standard diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) tractography to improve visualization of subcortical bundles in the peritumoral area of highly edematous brain tumors. Interest in its use for presurgical planning in purely infiltrative gliomas without peritumoral edema has never been evaluated. Using subcortical maps obtained with direct electrostimulation (DES) in awake surgery as a reference standard, the authors sought to 1) assess the accuracy of preoperative DTI-based tractography with FERNET in a series of nonedematous glioma patients, and 2) determine its potential usefulness in presurgical planning.

A 78-year-old woman with diffuse white matter infiltration and predominant involvement of bilateral temporo-parieto-occipital regions.

Diffuse paediatric-type high-grade glioma, H3-wildtype and IDH-wildtype (H3/IDH-wt-pHGG) is a newly defined entity amongst brain tumours, primarily reported in children. It is a rare, ill-defined type of tumour and the only method to diagnose it is DNA methylation profiling. The case we report here carries new knowledge about this tumour which may, in fact, occur in elderly patients, be devoid of evocative genomic abnormalities reported in children and harbour a misleading mutation.

Epidemiology and characteristics of Paget's disease of bone in a French nationwide HIV cohort.

Paget's disease of bone (PDB) has rarely been reported in people with HIV (PWH). We describe the prevalence and characteristics of patients with PDB in the French multicenter Dat'AIDS cohort. Among 49 698 PWH actively followed in 2022, 9 had a diagnosis of PDB.

Nail Telocytes: Identification, Potential Physiological Function, and Role in Pathology: A Reappraisal of the So-Called Onychofibroblasts/Onychodermis.

Some authors have suggested that the fibroblasts of the nail mesenchyme (onychofibroblasts) can be distinguished from skin fibroblasts by their high expression of CD10. My 2015 study documented the presence of a relatively sparse CD34 + /CD10 + dendritic subpopulation in the dermis and hypodermis of the matrix. For some time now, my hypothesis has been that these interstitial dendritic mesenchymal cells of the matrix correspond to telocytes.

Analysis of Intracranial Aneurysm Haemodynamics Altered by Wall Movement.

Computational fluid dynamics is intensively used to deepen our understanding of aneurysm growth and rupture in an attempt to support physicians during therapy planning. Numerous studies assumed fully rigid vessel walls in their simulations, whose sole haemodynamics may fail to provide a satisfactory criterion for rupture risk assessment. Moreover, direct in vivo observations of intracranial aneurysm pulsation were recently reported, encouraging the development of fluid-structure interaction for their modelling and for new assessments.

Impact of indocyanine green on prolonged air leak in minimally invasive segmentectomy.

Background: Video-assisted thoracoscopic segmentectomies have become the gold standard for the treatment of early-stage non-small cell lung cancer less than two centimeters. The main difficulty is the identification of intersegmental boundary lines which dictate postoperative morbidities.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study to compare the perioperative outcomes of patients who underwent minimally invasive segmentectomy using the traditional deflation-inflation method or the novel indocyanine green (ICG) technique.
