Background: The COntrolling NUTritional Status (CONUT) score and the Global Nutrition Risk Index (GNRI) are screening tools for assessing the risk of malnutrition based on widely available biochemical parameters. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the predictive value of CONUT and GNRI score on 36 months mortality and hospitalization risk in hospitalized older patients.
Methods: Data of 382 patients (196 women, mean age 80.

Background: Perioperative complication rates and in-hospital mortality after radical nephroureterectomy (RNU) in patients with a history of heart valve replacement are unknown.
Methods: Within the National Inpatient Sample (2000-2019), we identified non-metastatic upper urinary tract carcinoma patients treated with RNU according to the presence or absence of a history of heart valve replacement. Propensity score matching (1:10 ratio) and multivariable logistic regression as well as Poisson regression models were used.

Background: Clinical experience during trans-patch ventricular ablations shows difficult lesion formation when using standard RF ablation technology. The aim of this exploratory study is to test if ultralow temperature cryoblation (ULTC) technology could be suitable for trans-patch ventricular ablations.
Materials And Methods: Ex vivo ablations were performed on 16 porcine tenderloin specimens of 5 × 7 × 3 cm, eight with and eight without pericardial patch (Supple Peri-Guard Repair Patch, Baxter, USA).

Background: Inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) are more than 500 different rare congenital disorders of the immune system characterized by susceptibility to infections and immune dysregulation. The significant overlap of the clinical features among the different forms may lead to diagnostic delay. High throughput sequencing techniques may allow a timely genetic definition.

Microneedle patches have emerged as a promising approach for diabetic wound healing by enabling the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents such as stem cells and their derived exosomes, as well as localized delivery of bioactive moieties. These patches offer a non-invasive and efficient method for administering therapeutic payloads directly to the site of the wound, bypassing systemic circulation and minimizing potential side effects. The targeted delivery of stem cells holds immense potential for promoting tissue regeneration and accelerating wound healing in diabetic patients.

Introduction: IBD-Disk is a simple, easy-to-use, and self-administered analogue visual tool for assessing disability in patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). However, it has not yet been validated in Italian. This study aims to validate IBD-Disk in an Italian cross-sectional multicentre study.

Background And Objective: Apalutamide (APA) is a treatment for metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC). In the ARON-3 study we investigated real-world experiences with APA treatment for mCSPC.
Methods: We retrospectively assessed real-world clinical outcomes for patients with mCSPC treated with APA in the ARON-3 study.

Background: Glucocorticoids (GC) are potent entrainers of the circadian clock. However, their effects on biological rhythms in chronic human exposure have yet to be studied. Endogenous hypercortisolism (Cushing's Syndrome, CS) is a rare condition in which circadian disruption is sustained by a tumorous source of GC excess, offering the unique opportunity to investigate GC's chronic effects in vivo.

Background: Sacubitril/valsartan (S/V) is a cornerstone treatment for heart failure (HF). Beneficial effects on hospitalization rates, mortality, and left ventricular remodeling have been observed in patients with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Despite the positive results, the influence of S/V on renal function during long-term follow-up has received little attention.

Aims: Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) decreases hepatic lipogenesis in animal models, and FGF21 analogues decrease serum triglycerides (TG) in adults in phase-2 trials. On the other hand, serum FGF21 is associated with higher TG in observational studies of people with obesity, raising a sort of paradox. We tested the hypothesis that FGF21 is induced by TG in youth with obesity, as a compensatory mechanism.

Purpose: To assess whether simultaneous normalization of late-night salivary cortisol (LNSC) and mean urinary free cortisol (mUFC) in patients with Cushing disease treated with osilodrostat is associated with better clinical outcomes than control of mUFC or LNSC alone.
Methods: Pooled data from two phase III osilodrostat studies (LINC 3 and LINC 4) were analyzed. Both comprised a 48-week core phase and an optional open-label extension.

Background: Pure autonomic failure (PAF) presents with progressive autonomic failure without other neurological features. Atypical presentations may lead to diagnostic uncertainty. We studied whether cutaneous phosphorylated-alpha-synuclein (p-syn) could distinguish between PAF, multiple system atrophy (MSA) and non-synucleinopathy-related autonomic failure, and examined its relationship with quantitative markers of cardiovascular autonomic failure.

Background: Predictors of response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) and endocrine therapy (NET) in hormone receptor-positive (HoR+)/human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer (BC) are required. Also, pathological and molecular changes induced by both strategies and their impact on patients' outcomes have not been reported so far.
Patients And Methods: In a cohort of 186 patients with early-stage HoR+/HER2-negative BC treated with NACT or NET, we assessed the association of baseline main clinicopathological features and PAM50 gene expression (GE), intrinsic subtypes (IS) and risk-of-relapse (ROR-P) score with pathological outcomes according to treatment strategy.

Purpose Of Review: We aim to explore the most recent insights into the pathogenesis of recurrent angioedema caused by different mechanisms and then focus on the management and treatment approaches available.
Recent Findings: The recently developed DANCE consensus classification identifies five types of angioedema: mast cell-mediated (AE-MC), bradykinin-mediated, because of intrinsic vascular endothelium dysfunction (AE-VE), drug-induced (AE-DI), and due to unknown mechanisms (AE-UNK). These subtypes require different management with treatment choices targeting the main pathogenetic pathways involved in each form.

Background: The Brief International Cognitive Assessment for Multiple Sclerosis (BICAMS) is the most widely used in clinical practice and the least time-consuming battery to estimate cognitive function in adults with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), while it has been included in few studies on young MS, also because of the absence of normative values.
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of age, sex and education on BICAMS scores in a young adolescent population.
Methods: We administered the BICAMS to 169, 11-to-18-year-old, healthy subjects.

Introduction: Personalized medicine has revolutionized the clinical management of patients with solid tumors. However, the large volumes of molecular data derived from next-generation sequencing (NGS) and the lack of harmonized bioinformatics pipelines drastically impact the clinical management of patients with solid tumors. A possible solution to streamline the molecular interpretation and reporting of NGS data would be to adopt automated data analysis software.

Mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1), which consists of mTOR, Raptor, and mLST8, receives signaling inputs from growth factor signals and nutrients. These signals are mediated by the Rheb and Rag small GTPases, respectively, which activate mTORC1 on the cytosolic face of the lysosome membrane. We biochemically reconstituted the activation of mTORC1 on membranes by physiological submicromolar concentrations of Rheb, Rags, and Ragulator.
