Background: Dermatosurgical procedures are predominantly performed under local anesthesia, yet there are few studies on perioperative pain management for extensive or staged procedures under local anesthesia. The purpose of this study was to assess pain during dermatologic surgery, describe perioperative pain management, and identify factors that influence pain perception.
Patients And Methods: This prospective, monocentric study included inpatients undergoing dermatologic surgery under local anesthesia from April to December 2021.

Standardized reporting of multiparametric prostate MRI (mpMRI) is widespread and follows international standards (Pi-RADS). However, quantitative measurements from mpMRI are not widely comparable. Although T2 mapping sequences can provide repeatable quantitative image measurements and extract reliable imaging biomarkers from mpMRI, they are often time-consuming.

Unilateral osteoarthritis of the knee can be treated by osteotomy. In case of postoperative infection after high tibial osteotomy, treatment can be challenging and often requires implant removal with the risk of loss of reduction. In the presented case, a 47-year old patient suffered postoperative infection after high tibial osteotomy using an angular stable plate with the need for multiple revision surgeries and anti-infective therapy.

In precision oncology, reliable testing of predictive molecular biomarkers is a prerequisite for optimal patient treatment. Interlaboratory comparisons are a crucial tool to verify diagnostic performance and reproducibility of one's approach. Herein is described the design and results of the first recurrent, internationally performed PIK3CA (phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate 3 kinase catalytic subunit α) breast cancer tissue external quality assessment (EQA), organized by German Quality in Pathology GmbH and started in 2021.

Background: Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) replacement may be indicated for various pathological conditions, and the type of condition can affect the surgical procedure and outcomes. The causes of limited range of motion after alloplastic TMJ replacement have not been extensively studied.
Objectives: The present study aimed to evaluate the impact of preoperative jaw anatomy and functional status on the immediate and long-term outcomes of total TMJ replacement using a two-component patient-specific TMJ endoprosthesis.

Patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) require close monitoring to achieve the goal of sustained disease remission. Telehealth can facilitate continuous care while relieving scarce healthcare resources. In a mixed-methods proof-of-concept study, we investigated a hybrid telehealth care axSpA pathway in patients with stable disease over 6 months.

Atherosclerosis is a chronic proinflammatory disease of the vascular wall resulting in narrowing of arteries due to plaque formation, thereby causing reduced blood supply that is the leading cause for diverse end-organ damage with high mortality rates. Monocytes/macrophages, activated by elevated circulating lipoproteins, are significantly involved in the formation and development of atherosclerotic plaques. The imbalance between proinflammatory and anti-inflammatory macrophages, arising from dysregulated macrophage polarization, appears to be a driving force in this process.

Clinical, cognitive, and atrophy characteristics depending on sex have been previously reported in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, though sex differences in cortical gray matter measures in early drug naïve patients have been described, little is known about differences in cortical thickness (CTh) as the disease advances. Our multi-site sample comprised 211 non-demented PD patients (64.

Purpose: Endovascular treatment has emerged as the gold standard for managing chronic mesenteric ischemia (CMI) resulting from arterial stenosis or occlusion. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and complication rates of continuous interventional radiology treatment for CMI in Germany between 2018 and 2021, comparing these findings with international quality standards.
Materials And Methods: Data for CMI therapy with stenting and percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) was obtained from the quality management system of the German Interventional Radiological Society (DeGIR).

Purpose: Endovascular interventional radiological procedures have become the mainstay for the treatment of critical limb ischemia (CLI) due to arterial stenosis or occlusion. Open surgical or endovascular procedures, such as percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) or stenting can be used as a treatment strategy. The aim is to evaluate the success and major complication rates of interventional radiology treatments for CLI in Germany in 2021, and to compare these results with internationally published data.

Objective: Interim analysis of the RELIANCE registry, an on-going, non-interventional, open-label, multicentre, prospective study evaluating the long-term safety, dosing regimens and effectiveness of canakinumab in patients with cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS), familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), tumour-necrosis factor receptor-associated periodic syndrome (TRAPS) or mevalonate-kinase deficiency (MKD)/hyperimmunoglobulin-D syndrome (HIDS).
Methods: From September 2017 for patients with CAPS, and June 2018 for patients with FMF, TRAPS or MKD/HIDS, the registry enrolled paediatric (aged ≥2 years) and adult patients (aged ≥18 years) receiving canakinumab as part of their routine medical care. Safety, canakinumab dose, disease activity and quality of life outcome measures were evaluated at baseline and every 6 months until end of study visit.
