Objectives: Data on abatacept (ABA) persistence in routine practice are limited. We aimed to study ABA persistence rates at 12 months, according to the date of initiation, and to analyze the factors associated with persistence at 12 months.
Methods: We performed an observational, ambispective, multi-center study from January 2008 to July 2016, based on the French-RIC Network.

Objective: Antibiotic treatment and arthroscopic or open drainage is the gold standard for septic arthritis. Full recovery takes time after surgery and hospital stay is longer than for arthrocentesis at the bedside. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of arthrocentesis (medical approach) versus a surgical approach.

Infections with nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) have a poor prognosis in patients with underlying respiratory diseases. Clofazimine (CFZ) showed both experimental and clinical promising results against clinically relevant NTM. However, there are no data on CFZ in combination with the current recommended treatment; therefore, we aimed to study its activity in an aerosol mouse model of In an aerosol infection BALB/c mouse model using strain Chester, we treated 58 mice with four combinations of rifampin (RIF) at 10 mg/kg, CFZ at 25 mg/kg, and clarithromycin (CLR) and ethambutol (EMB) at 100 mg/kg.

Background: The feasibility of day case surgery (DCS) appendectomy for uncomplicated acute appendicitis (UCAA) was evaluated by the prospective AppendAmbu (Feasibility of Outpatient Appendectomy for Acute Appendicitis) study (ClinicalTrials.gov ID NCT01839435). The aim of this study was to evaluate the real-life feasibility of DCS for UCAA.

What Is Known And Objective: Behavioural disorders are difficult to manage in elderly demented patients because of the lack of appropriate drugs or difficulties surrounding the route of administration. The tolerability of Midazolam is well described in the emergency management of agitation for young patients, when administered intramuscularly or intravenously. However, very little data are available on the use of oral Midazolam for this indication and in the elderly population.

Introduction: The main objective of this work was to assess the maintenance of effectiveness of subcutaneous tocilizumab 6 months after switching from intravenous to subcutaneous formulation in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in a real-world setting. Secondary objectives aimed to describe the characteristics of patients and disease, the effectiveness at 12 months after switching, the therapeutic maintenance, and to search for predictive factors of switching.
Methods: We analyzed all the RA patients of the shared medical file "RIC Nord de France", treated with tocilizumab, switching or not from intravenous to subcutaneous tocilizumab, between April 2015 and January 2016.

Background: While there is a general consensus of the impact of an orthogeriatric organisation in terms of elderly patient mortality post hip fracture, it is unclear which, among these various care models, is the most optimal.
Methods: A systematic review of the literature was undertaken using the keywords "Femoral fractures or total hip replacements or Accidental, falls" and "Aged, 80 and over" and "Mortality". The review is presented following PRISMA guidance.

Objective: The objective of the study was to determine how to optimize 2D and 4D phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) acquisitions to acquire flow velocities in millimetric vessels. In particular, we search for the best compromise between acquisition time and accuracy and assess the influence of the principal component analysis (PCA).
Materials And Methods: 2D and 4D PC-MRI measurements are conducted within two in vitro vessel phantoms: a Y-bifurcation phantom, the branches of which range from 2 to 5 mm in diameter, and a physiological subject-specific phantom of the carotid bifurcation.

Through mutant selection on agar containing pyrazinoic acid (POA), the bioactive form of the prodrug pyrazinamide (PZA), we recently showed that missense mutations in the aspartate decarboxylase PanD and the unfoldase ClpC1, and loss-of-function mutation of polyketide synthases Mas and PpsA-E involved in phthiocerol dimycocerosate synthesis, cause resistance to POA and PZA in Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Here we first asked whether these in vitro-selected POA/PZA-resistant mutants are attenuated in vivo, to potentially explain the lack of evidence of these mutations among PZA-resistant clinical isolates. Infection of mice with panD, clpC1, and mas/ppsA-E mutants showed that whereas growth of clpC1 and mas/ppsA-E mutants was attenuated, the panD mutant grew as well as the wild-type.

Choosing the subcutaneous (SC) route of administration of abatacept and tocilizumab is more cost-effective than the intravenous (IV) route. The objective of this study was to examine patients' reasons for choosing to keep with their IV infusions or to switch to subcutaneous SC injections. This study was based upon a self-administered questionnaire given to consecutive rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with abatacept or tocilizumab.

Background: 'Personal Emergency Response Systems' (PERS) can provide a solution for raising the alert after a fall but no criteria are available to enable us to estimate whether a population which is set to benefit from a PERS will be able to use the device.
Objective: To describe the profile differences of purchasers and non-purchasers of a PERS and to explore the population of users and non-users of these devices.
Methods: The study was part of an observational cohort survey of elderly fallers which took place in the emergency department of our University urban hospital.
