Our objective was to assess the incidence of inhibitors development in Czech Republic since the introduction of recombinant factor VIII (rFVIII) and to look for the factors potentially influencing this parameter. It is to be expected that inhibitors risk may be increased after the introduction of recombinant products. Data of Czech National Haemophilia Programme registry entered from 2003 till 2013 were analysed.

A selective and sensitive gradient HPLC-UV method for quantification of sotalol hydrochloride and potassium sorbate in five types of oral liquid preparations was developed and fully validated. The separation of an active substance sotalol hydrochloride, potassium sorbate (antimicrobial agent), and other substances (for taste and smell correction, etc.) was performed using an Ascentis Express C18 (100 × 4.

EUCLID European Coordinators, University of Leeds, Leeds, UK. Electronic address:
Background: Variations in testing for Clostridium difficile infection can hinder patients' care, increase the risk of transmission, and skew epidemiological data. We aimed to measure the underdiagnosis of C difficile infection across Europe.
Methods: We did a questionnaire-based study at 482 participating hospitals across 20 European countries.

The aim of this study was to describe the characteristics and outcomes of a large cohort of patients treated with sorafenib in clinical practice and to identify predictive factors associated with prognosis. Patient data were obtained from the national Czech registry (RenIS). Data of virtually all Czech patients receiving targeted therapies are entered into this non-interventional post-registration database.

The objective of this study is to present a new radiographic method for the assessment of vertebral rotation from an antero-posterior view of conventional X-rays which is sufficiently precise in comparison with radiographic methods presently used in clinical practice (methods of Nash-Moe and Perdriolle). This method is based on the properties of the geometric shape of vertebrae and their shared dimensional proportions. It means that the relation between vertebral body width and height doesn't change significantly within the entire thoracic and lumbar sections of the spine.

Testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs) are the most common solid tumors in young adult men characterized by distinct biologic features and clinical behavior. Both genetic predispositions and environmental factors probably play a substantial role in their etiology. TGTCs arise from a malignant transformation of primordial germ cells in a process that starts prenatally, is often associated with a certain degree of gonadal dysgenesis, and involves the acquirement of several specific aberrations, including activation of SCF-CKIT, amplification of 12p with up-regulation of stem cell genes, and subsequent genetic and epigenetic alterations.

The aim of this article is 3D analysis of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) patient, who underwent surgery, during which the right TMJ was resected along with the ramus of mandible and consequently the joint was reconstructed with subtotal replacement. The main goal is to give a suitable formulation of mathematical model, which describes the changes of stresses in TMJ incurred after the surgery. The TMJ is a complex, sensitive and highly mobile joint which works bilaterally so each side influences the contralateral joint and because of this the distribution of the stresses is changed in the healthy joint as well.

The most common cause of sudden cardiac death is ventricular fibrillation (VF). In addition to the status, size and location of the ventricular focus, a major pathogenic mechanism triggering VF is autonomic dysbalance (disturbance). This term refers to a wide range of reflex changes in the ratio of sympathetic to vagal ventricular activation over time, occurring immediately after coronary artery occlusion at the onset of acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

The objective of this work is retrospective evaluation of results of the intraoperative detection of sentinel node in breast carcinoma after a single subcutaneous injection of radiopharmaceutical (RF) within a two-day protocol. From May/2001 to June/2002, lymphoscintigraphy of the sentinel node (SN) and its subsequent radioguided intraoperative detection (RGS) was performed in 43 women having stage T1-T2, N0 breast carcinoma. The static scans in the anterior and relevant lateral projections were performed using a gamma camera at approximately 30-minute intervals after the subcutaneous administration of 15 MBq 99mTc Senti-Scint, until the SN was displayed.

A stability-indicating HPLC procedure has been developed for the determination of morphine and its degradation product pseudomorphine in injection solutions. The reversed-phase chromatographic procedure uses an octadecyl-bonded column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile and aqueous buffer containing an ion-pair reagent. Chromatographic conditions are identified that enable the complete separation of morphine and pseudomorphine without peak deformation or splitting.
