Background: Patients who climb onto the roof of a stationary train carriage and sustain a high voltage electrical injury from the overhead cables represent a rare type of electrical injury. The aim of this study was to review all the electrical burns and their outcomes in train climbers treated in the Helsinki Burn Centre during the last three decades.
Methods: 18 patients who had climbed onto the roof of a stationary electric train between November 1993 and December 2022 were included.

Purpose: The normal brain is an important dose-limiting organ for brain cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. This study aims to develop a model to calculate photon isoeffective doses (D) to normal brain that can explain the incidence of grade 2 or higher somnolence syndrome (SS⩾2) after Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT).
Methods: A D model was constructed to find the reference photon dose that equals the Normal Tissue Complication Probability (NTCP) of the absorbed dose from BNCT.

Introduction: Healthcare professionals' perspectives are often overlooked in the evaluation of digital weight loss interventions. Thus, we examined how healthcare professionals perceive patient success in a one-year web-based weight management program, the Healthy Weight Coaching, aiming to identify key success factors and common challenges within the coaching process.
Methods: Thematic analysis was conducted on ten semi-structured interviews with healthcare professionals from the Healthy Weight Coaching.

Background: Catheter ablation is a well-established treatment to prevent atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial flutter (AFL) recurrences and to relieve symptoms, whereas pacemaker implantation and atrioventricular node (AVN) ablation is used for rate control when medical therapy fails.
Aims: We investigated temporal trends and patient characteristics in catheter ablation procedures for AF, AFL and AVN in Finland between 2012-2018.
Methods: Finnish AntiCoagulation in Atrial Fibrillation (FinACAF) is a registry-based study including all patients with AF or AFL in Finland between 2012-2018.

Purpose: We investigated the relationship between oral frailty (OFr) and falls among long-term care residents.
Methods: Residents (N = 254, mean age 84 y, 79% women) participated in this longitudinal cohort study in 2018-2021. OFr was defined by six signs.

Objective: The objective of this study was to determine if baseline adiponectin, leptin, and resistin levels are associated with response to antirheumatic treatment in early rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
Methods: This study included 341 participants of the Nordic Rheumatic Diseases Strategy Trials and Registries trial with untreated early RA, randomized at baseline into four treatment arms: methotrexate combined with (1) prednisolone, (2) certolizumab, (3) abatacept, or (4) tocilizumab. Follow-up was up to 48 weeks.

Objective: Secondary rhinoplasty is a frequently requested revision procedure in patients with a history of cleft lip and palate (CLP). The satisfaction of patients with the esthetic outcome of the procedure has been infrequently studied.
Design: Adult patients with CLP who had undergone a secondary rhinoplasty between 2009 and 2019 were identified in a cross-sectional cohort that had filled the FACE-Q rhinoplasty module.

Background And Purpose: Executive dysfunction and slowed processing speed are central cognitive impairments in cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD). It is unclear whether the subcomponents of executive functions become equally affected and whether computerized tests are more sensitive in detecting early cognitive changes over traditional tests. The associations of specific executive abilities (cognitive flexibility, inhibitory control, working memory) and processing speed with white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) were examined.

Purpose: To assess the relationships between the electric field (EF) and neural excitation patterns in cochlear implants (CIs) and explore their associations with the cochlear diameter, patient age and gender, and postoperative speech recognition.
Method: The intraoperative transimpedance matrix (TIM) and spread of excitation (SOE) measures were computed to obtain their 50 % widths corresponding to six electrode contacts of a lateral-wall electrode array. The measures were then analyzed for intercorrelations, associations with the cochlear diameter, as well as age and gender-related differences.
