Background: Lung ultrasound (LUS) has emerged as a useful tool in the acute phase of patients admitted for ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction. However, its long-term significance remains uncertain, and risk scores do not include LUS findings as a predictor. This study aims to assess the 1-year prognostic value of LUS and its ability to enhance existing risk scores.

We evaluated the burden of MAD, mitral valve prolapse (MVP), and mitral regurgitation (MR) by heritable thoracic aortic disease gene in a cross-sectional analysis of 2014-2023 data in the Montalcino Aortic Consortium registry.
Methods And Results: MAD was determined by direct measurement of echocardiographic images.
Bridging therapy (BT) after leukapheresis is required in most relapsed/refractory (R/R) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL) patients receiving chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells. Bendamustine-containing regimens are a potential BT option. We aimed to assess if this agent had a negative impact on CAR-T outcomes when it was administered as BT.

There is no standard next line of therapy and information in this setting is scarce and heterogeneous. We analyzed 387 R/R LBCL patients who progressed after CAR T cells from July 2018 until March 2022 in Spain and the United Kingdom.

Introduction: Urofacial, or Ochoa, syndrome (UFS) is an autosomal recessive disease featuring a dyssynergic bladder with detrusor smooth muscle contracting against an undilated outflow tract. It also features an abnormal grimace. Half of individuals with UFS carry biallelic variants in , whereas other rare families carry variants in is immunodetected in pelvic ganglia sending autonomic axons into the bladder.

Background: Increasing evidence from randomised controlled trials supports the implementation of a six-measure care bundle proposed by the Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) guidelines in patients at high risk for acute kidney injury (AKI) to reduce its incidence after cardiac surgery.
Objective: To assess compliance with the KDIGO bundle in clinical practice.
Design: Prospective observational multinational study.

Department of Medicine, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.
Background: Abnormal motility patterns in the jejunum can be detected in patients with prominent colonic content, and these abnormalities may be due to either a primary jejunal dysfunction or a reflex distortion. The objective of the present study was to determine the effect of colonic distension on small bowel postprandial motility using high-resolution manometry.
Methods: Single center, controlled, parallel, randomized, single blind study in healthy subjects testing the effect of colonic filling vs sham infusion on the responses to a meal in 16 healthy subjects.

Background: The manometric diagnosis of severe intestinal dysmotility is performed at most institutions using catheters with 2-8 sensors 5-10 cm apart. The recent application of high-resolution manometry catheters with closely spaced sensors to other gut segments has been highly successful. The objective of the present study was to determine the feasibility of a jejunal high-resolution manometry method and to carry out a descriptive analysis of normal jejunal motor function.

Objective: Adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) may be at a higher risk of a fatal outcome in case of COVID-19. Current risk stratification among these patients relies on personal experience and extrapolation from patients with acquired heart disease. We aimed to provide an expert view on risk stratification while awaiting results from observational studies.

Online patient registries are used to collect data on clinical conditions with rare occurrence or unclear diagnostic and management practices. The success of these registries depends on clear definition of goals, correct identification of patient population/inclusion criteria, availability of appropriate setup and maintenance tools, and the quality of dissemination. The Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) for Women's Health Issues in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, one of 20 committees of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) has developed 6 registries for women's bleeding and thrombotic conditions over the past 2 years and are currently in various stages of progress.

Introduction: Pediatric donation is underutilized because of presumed increased risk of vascular thrombosis (VT) and graft loss. Using young pediatric donors (YPDs) for young pediatric recipients (YPRs) is suggested to be even at greater risk and therefore precluded in many centers. The aim of this study was to analyze the outcome of kidney transplantation (KT) from YPD to age-matched YPR.

Study Objectives: We investigated the diagnostic accuracy for the identification of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and its severity of a noninvasive technology based on image processing (SleepWise).
Methods: This is an observational, prospective study to evaluate the degree of agreement between polysomnography (PSG) and SleepWise. We recruited 56 consecutive subjects with suspected OSA who were referred as outpatients to the Sleep Unit of the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol (HUGTiP) from January 2013 to January 2014.

Cocaine use can induce transient psychotic symptoms that include suspiciousness, paranoia, hallucinations, and other cocaine-related behaviors. In this commentary, the authors provide an international perspective while reviewing the recent advances in epidemiology, clinical features, and risk factors related to cocaine-induced psychosis exhibited by patients with cocaine use disorders. In some settings, the occurrence of cocaine-induced psychosis has been shown to be as high as 86.

Background: The use of drug-eluting stents (DES) is an example of the disparity between recommendations given by regulatory agencies and the real clinical world. Such disparity might lead cardiologists to adopt different routines in the use of DES. We aimed to assess variability of off-label DES use between hospitals and to what extent it can be explained by differences in patient or hospital characteristics.
