Recurrent Anti-NMDAR Encephalitis Necessitating Oophorectomy in an Adolescent Patient: A Case Report.

Anti-NMDA receptor (A-NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune condition often associated with ovarian teratoma. Surgical removal of the teratoma is generally curative, and recurrence is uncommon. A 14-year-old female presented with psychiatric symptoms and was ultimately diagnosed with A-NMDAR encephalitis during a prolonged hospitalization.

French protocol for the diagnosis and management of systemic lupus erythematosus.

Because Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a rare disease, and due to the significant prognostic impact of early management, a diagnosis confirmed by a physician with experience in SLE is recommended, for example from an expert center. Once the diagnosis is confirmed, existing manifestations should be identified in particular, renal involvement by an assessment of proteinuria, disease activity and severity should be determined, potential complications anticipated, associated diseases searched for, and the patient's socioprofessional and family context noted. Therapeutic management of SLE includes patient education on recognizing symptoms, understanding disease progression as well as when they should seek medical advice.

However, few studies have specifically examined reasons and motivations for gun ownership and gun behaviors in this population. Therefore, this study sought to examine the relationship between stress variables, namely masculine gender role stress, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and income level, and subsequent pro-gun beliefs and amount of time an individual carried a gun within this population.

Study Design: A retrospective noninferiority study of women with rUTI was performed at an academic tertiary referral center from January 2016 to December 2020.

In this study, a survey was conducted on medical accidents in order to develop an alert that could be expected to reduce alert fatigue. As a result, medical accidents related to drugs are common worldwide, and the need for an alert system that can detect the implementation of medical treatment was found.

Objective: To establish priority gaps related to contextual factors (CFs) research and force-based manipulation (FBM).

Methods: A three-round Delphi following recommended guidelines for conducting and reporting Delphi studies (CREDES) involving international and interdisciplinary panelists with expertise in CFs and FBM. Round 1 was structured around two prompting questions created by the workgroup.

Objective: Emerging literature suggests contextual factors are important components of therapeutic encounters and may substantially influence clinical outcomes of a treatment intervention. At present, a single consensus definition of contextual factors, which is universal across all health-related conditions is lacking. The objective of this study was to create a consensus definition of contextual factors to better refine this concept for clinicians and researchers.

Objective: This study aims to explore, in rodent models, the effectiveness of systemic nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in reducing recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) induced neuroinflammation.

Summary Of Background Data: rhBMP-2 is increasingly used to augment fusion in lumbar interbody fusion surgeries, although it can cause complications including postoperative radiculitis.

Complex relationships between inflammatory manifestations/type 1 and type 2 symptoms in systemic lupus erythematosus: A narrative literature review.

Objective: Recent studies have highlighted that systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by different types of symptoms: type 1 symptoms related to inflammation and disease activity and type 2 symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety-depression, and pain. Our aim was to investigate the relation between type 1 and type 2 symptoms, and their impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in SLE.

Methods: A literature review was conducted about disease activity/type1 and type 2 symptoms.

Smoking Cessation for Preoperative Optimization.

Cigarette smoking is associated with pulmonary and cardiovascular disease and confers increased postoperative morbidity and mortality. Smoking cessation in the weeks before surgery can mitigate these risks, and surgeons should screen patients for smoking before a scheduled operation so that appropriate smoking cessation education and resources can be given. Interventions that combine nicotine replacement therapy, pharmacotherapy, and counseling are effective to achieve durable smoking cessation.
