Objectives: Early detection of treatment failure is essential to improve the management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). We evaluated the molecular bacterial load assay (MBLA) in comparison to standard diagnostic tests for monitoring therapy of patients affected by drug-resistant TB.

Methods: The performance of MBLA in tracking treatment response in a prospective cohort of patients with pulmonary MDR/RR- and pre-XDR/XDR-TB was compared with mycobacterial culture, mycobacterial DNA detection using GeneXpert (Xpert) and microscopy detection of sputum acid-fast-bacilli.

For comparison, we measured force of contraction in left atrial preparations (LA) from mice with overexpression of the histamine H-receptor in the heart (H-TG).

This study aimed to investigate the effect of total dietary protein, animal-based protein, plant-based protein, and their substitutions with each other on the risk of BC using a pooled analysis of 10 cohort studies.

Methods: The study was conducted within the "BLadder cancer Epidemiology and Nutritional Determinants" (BLEND) study, including 10 prospective cohort studies from several European countries, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

An international and multidisciplinary EORTC survey on resectability of stage III non-small cell lung cancer.

Introduction: The EORTC-Lung Cancer Group initiated a Delphi consensus process to establish a consensual definition of resectable stage III non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) for the use in clinical trials, including a systematic review, survey, and review of clinical cases. Here, the survey results are presented, aimed to identify areas of controversy.

The common GAN-based approach is to generate entire image volumes, rather than the region of interest (ROI). Research on deep learning-based brain tumor classification using MRI has shown that it is easier to classify the tumor ROIs compared to the entire image volumes.

Purpose: Training machine learning models to segment tumors and other anomalies in medical images is an important step for developing diagnostic tools but generally requires manually annotated ground truth segmentations, which necessitates significant time and resources. We aim to develop a pipeline that can be trained using readily accessible binary image-level classification labels, to effectively segment regions of interest without requiring ground truth annotations.

Background: The high levels of antimicrobial consumption in hospitals contribute to the occurrence of antimicrobial resistant bacteria. Antimicrobial resistant bacteria and sub-lethal concentrations of antimicrobial metabolites can end up in hospital wastewater which can spread to the environment and to the community. However, information on the resistance profile of bacteria isolated from environments is not well studied.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of coronary bypass surgery (CABG) on long-term mortality, comparing survival rates to those of the general population in Poland. The study was based on the Polish National Register of Cardiothoracic Surgical Procedures (KROK). Between January 2009 and December 2019, 133,973 patients underwent CABG.

Correlates of Premenstrual Syndrome in Polish Adolescents-Results from POLKA 18 Youth-Led Cross-Sectional Study.

This study aims to evaluate the prevalence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) among Polish adolescents and explore its associations with mental health outcomes, lifestyle factors, and risk behaviours. Additionally, it seeks to examine the impact of PMS on quality of life, contributing to the foundation for initiatives that enhance adolescent menstrual health. This research is part of the POLKA 18 study, a youth-led cross-sectional survey conducted between April and December 2019.
