Background: Imaging biomarkers are emerging as non-invasive predictors of cancer prognosis and clinical outcome. We assessed tumor-specific ("radiomics") and body composition imaging features ("morphomics") extracted from baseline pre-treatment CT for prediction of recurrence in patients with stage III colorectal cancer (CRC).
Methods: Patients with newly diagnosed stage III CRC were enrolled in this prospective observational study.

Purpose: Gain-of-function mutations in CTNNB1, gene encoding for β-catenin, are observed in 25-30% of hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs). Recent studies have shown β-catenin activation to have distinct roles in HCC susceptibility to mTOR inhibitors and resistance to immunotherapy. Our goal was to develop and test a computational imaging-based model to non-invasively assess β-catenin activation in HCC, since liver biopsies are often not done due to risk of complications.

Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) represents a heterogeneous group of morphological changes in the brain tissue that can predispose the development of pharmacoresistant epilepsy (recurring, unprovoked seizures which cannot be managed with medications). This group of neurological disorders affects not only the cerebral cortex but also the subjacent white matter. This work reviews the literature describing the morphological substrate of pharmacoresistant epilepsy.

It is an acknowledged fact that SARS-CoV-2 exhibits tropism for the human placenta. A possible mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 entry into host cells is via angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptors, which are expressed in trophoblasts, endothelial cells, and macrophages. The present study describes a case of spontaneous miscarriage in the 20th gestational week after maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection.

MRI is a cornerstone in presurgical evaluation of epilepsy. Despite guidelines, clinical practice varies. In light of the E-PILEPSY pilot reference network, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis on the diagnostic value of MRI in the presurgical evaluation of epilepsy patients.

Sarcomas of the uterine corpus are rare malignant neoplasms, which are further classified into mesenchymal tumors, and mixed (epithelial plus mesenchymal) tumors. The main issues concerning these neoplasms are the small number of clinical trials, insufficient data from evidence-based medicine, insignificant interest from the pharmaceutical industry, all of which close a vicious circle. The low frequency of these malignancies implies insufficient experience in the diagnosis, hence incomplete surgical and complex treatment.

Vascular invasion by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), also known as tumor in vein (TIV), indicates highly invasive tumor behavior and is also associated with poor outcome. Because a diagnosis of TIV precludes liver transplantation, knowledge of the imaging findings to differentiate between TIV and bland thrombus is key for proper patient management. Prior versions of liver imaging reporting and data system (LI-RADS) included presence of TIV as part of LR-5 criteria.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common liver malignancy associated with chronic liver disease. Nonhepatocellular malignancies may also arise in the setting of chronic liver disease. The imaging diagnosis of non-HCC malignancies may be challenging.

A variety of recently introduced devices have allowed more complex aneurysms to be rendered for endovascular embolization. Tiny and sophisticated implants are nowadays designed to provide further either temporary or permanent remodeling of the wide-necked aneurysms and improve coil occlusion rates. Such improvements in the technical armamentarium include the Woven EndoBridge (Sequent Medical, California, USA), the Medina Embolic Device (Medtronic, Irvine, California, USA), The Contour Neurovascular System (Cerus Endovascular, Fremont, California, USA), and pCONUS 2 HPC (Phenox, GmbH, Bohum, Germany).

Vulvar cancer (VC) is a rare disease, of which the squamous vulvar carcinomas (SVCs) are the most common histological subtype. SVC is often associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV- positive SVCs are multifocal, typically have non-keratinizing morphology, presence of koilocytes and tend to arise in younger women (<50 years), which are often smokers.

Background And Purpose: Stent-assisted treatment techniques can be an effective treatment option for intracranial aneurysms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the periprocedural feasibility and safety of the new LVIS EVO stent for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
Materials And Methods: Patients with intracranial aneurysms treated with the LVIS EVO in 11 European neurovascular centers were retrospectively reviewed.

Temporary stent-assisted coiling is an eligible approach for the treatment of acutely ruptured complex cerebral aneurysms. Improved material properties and industrial advances in braiding technology have led to the introduction of new stent-like devices to augment endovascular coil embolization. Such technology includes the Cascade and Comaneci neck-bridging devices.

Background And Purpose: Low-profile self-expandable stents have increased the number of intracranial aneurysms treated by endovascular means. The new low-profile visible intraluminal support device LVIS EVO (Microvention), the successor of LVIS Jr, is a self-expandable and retrievable microstent system, designed for implantation into intracranial arteries with a diameter up to 2.0 mm.

The article describes and illustrates the surgical techniques and the post-operative imaging anatomy in liver transplantation. Special attention is paid to the variant vascular and biliary anatomy that are important for surgical planning. Considering the ever-growing number of liver transplants performed and the key role that imaging plays in the pre-operative planning and post-operative assessment, it is important for the radiologist to be familiar with the surgical techniques and the normal post-operative appearance in these patients.

Objectives: Epilepsy surgery is mainly cortical surgery and the precise definition of the epileptogenic zone on the complex cortical surface is of paramount importance. Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) may delineate the epileptogenic zone even in cases of non-lesional epilepsy. The aim of our study was to present a technique of 3D neuronavigation based on the brain surface and SEEG electrodes reconstructions using FSL and 3DSlicer software.

Meige syndrome (MS) is usually described as a combination of blepharospasm with oromandibular dystonia. There are a large number of case reports of deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the globus pallidus internus (GPI) for MS and only one report of unilateral pallidotomy (PT). We report the first case of staged bilateral PT for treatment of a patient with MS using intraoperative high-frequency stimulation in order to predict and prevent postoperative deficit.

Background: Stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) requires high-quality angiographic studies because avascular trajectory planning is a prerequisite for the safety of this procedure. Some epilepsy surgery groups have begun to use computed tomography angiography and magnetic resonance T1-weighted sequence with contrast enhancement for this purpose.
Objective: To present the first series of patients with avascular trajectory planning of SEEG based on magnetic resonance angiography (MRA).

Objective: Successful use of high-dose fluorescein-sodium (20mg/kg) with a standard light microscope for resection of high-grade gliomas, meningiomas, hemangioblastoma and metastases was reported. The principle of brain tumor staining by fluorescein-sodium (Fl-Na) consists in the accumulation of fluorescein in brain tumors with impaired blood-brain barrier. The aim of our study was to investigate for the first time the usefulness of high-dose fluorescein in patients operated on for benign neuroepithelial brain tumors (grade I WHO tumors) with contrast enhancement on magnetic resonance imaging.

Cerebellar lesions have classically been considered not to cause epilepsy. However, previous reports have attributed seizures, beginning as hemifacial spasms to lesions of the cerebellar peduncles. We report an example of paroxysmal facial contractions associated with a cerebellar gangliocytoma.
