Objective: To examine the external validity of the new Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) competing-risks model for prediction in midgestation of small-for-gestational-age (SGA) neonates.
Methods: This was a single-center prospective cohort study of 25 484 women with a singleton pregnancy undergoing routine ultrasound examination at 19 + 0 to 23 + 6 weeks' gestation. The FMF competing-risks model for the prediction of SGA combining maternal factors and midgestation estimated fetal weight by ultrasound scan (EFW) and uterine artery pulsatility index (UtA-PI) was used to calculate risks for different cut-offs of birth-weight percentile and gestational age at delivery.

Background: With recent advances in technology, patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and severe acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (ae-COPD) could benefit from extracorporeal CO removal (ECCOR). However, current evidence in these indications is limited. A European ECCOR Expert Round Table Meeting was convened to further explore the potential for this treatment approach.

Background: In this retrospective study, we aimed to analyze the clinical and radiological results of compensating the long-term deficiencies in hard and soft tissues of edentulous patients by placing dental implants and performing a horizontal ridge augmentation.
Material And Methods: We treated patients with edentulous maxillaries (Cawood-Howell type III or IV) by combining 4 implants, or 6 implants, or using zygomatic and conventional anterior implants as appropriate. Simultaneously, horizontal ridge augmentation was performed by combining autologous bone with Bio-Oss and membranes.

Objectives: We sought to assess the causes and outcomes of severe VM diagnosed de novo after 24 weeks of gestation where a mid-trimester anomaly scan was described as normal.
Methods: Multicenter retrospective study of five European fetal medicine centers. The inclusion criteria were normal anatomy at the mid-trimester scan, uni/bilateral finding of posterior ventricle measuring ≥ 15 mm after 24 weeks with neonatal and postnatal pediatric and/or neurological assessment data.

Oncogenic membrane receptor tyrosine kinases such as MET and EGFR, or auto-active variants thereof, are important targets for cancer precision therapy. Targeted inhibition of these oncogenic receptors however invariably leads to resistance, resulting from acquisition of resistance-inducing mutations or from selective outgrowth of a priori resistant tumour cells. Most applied molecular protocols cannot distinguish between intracellular and intercellular heterogeneity of oncogene (variant) expression, which may lead to misinterpretation of the molecular make-up of a cancer and suboptimal application of targeted therapies.

Serial analysis of BRAF mutations in circulating-free DNA (cfDNA) could be of prognostic value in melanoma patients. We collected blood samples from 63 advanced BRAFV600E/K melanoma patients and determined BRAFV600E/K status in cfDNA using a quantitative 5'-nuclease PCR-based assay. Levels of BRAF mutation in pre-cfDNAs were associated significantly with tumour burden, progression-free survival and overall survival.

This description shows the histological findings of a peroneus brevis tendon allograft used for labral reconstruction, implanted 8 weeks before being retrieved due to a postoperative complication unrelated to the graft. As far as we have knowledge this is the first description about revascularization of an allograft used for hip labral reconstruction. The histological report of the removed peroneus brevis tendon allograft shows evidence of vascular ingrowth represented by small vessels with a thin muscular wall in all layers of the graft and cellular migration mainly represented by mature fibroblasts.

Many of the described labral-reconstruction procedures are purely arthroscopic. This approach only allows segmentary reconstructions. For more extensive reconstructions, surgical dislocation of the hip still represents the more suitable approach.

Background: Many labral tears are nonrepairable. For these cases, labral reconstruction procedures may be considered in order to restore the joint fluid seal and prolong hip longevity.
Aims: The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and functional outcomes of a series of cases with nonrepairable labral tears that underwent labral reconstruction with tendon allografts.
Introduction: Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) has been proposed as a possible cause of early osteoarthritis of the hip. The treatment of this condition and its related lesions can be performed by 3 methods: surgical dislocation of the hip; pure arthroscopic; and anterior mini-open technique with or without arthroscopic assistance.
Methods: We describe the anterior mini-open technique and report our experience over the last decade in the treatment of FAI and different associated pathologies of the hip.

Introduction: There is widespread trend in total hip replacement to limit soft tissue damage. New approaches that respect the capsule and ligaments has been recently reported. The potential advantages of this approach is to improve short-term results in terms of stability, pain, length of stay, transfusions and complications.

Background: Surgical treatment of femoroacetabular impingement is becoming accepted worldwide, owing to improvements in clinical results and quality of life. In addition to treatment by surgical dislocation or arthroscopy, arthroscopic assisted mini-open approach was postulated to treat this pathology.
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze early results of the first consecutive 72 cases of femoroacetabular impingement treated using the arthroscopic assisted mini-open approach in two different centers by two surgeons trained by a senior surgeon experienced in the technique.

Essential tremor (ET) is a common movement disorder with an estimated prevalence of 5% of the population aged over 65 years. In spite of intensive efforts, the genetic architecture of ET remains unknown. We used a combination of whole-exome sequencing and targeted resequencing in three ET families.

This article reports the live birth of a healthy newborn using vitrified-warmed oocytes in a young patient with invasive mucinous ovarian carcinoma (stage Ic). Diagnosis was performed after a laparoscopic left adnexectomy. She underwent two cycles of ovarian stimulation, and 14 oocytes were vitrified before fertility-sparing surgery with uterus preservation went ahead.
