The term mild cognitive impairment (MCI) defines an intermediate state between normal aging and dementia. Vascular cognitive impairment refers to a decline in cognitive function that is caused by or associated with vascular disease and comprises all the spectrum of cognitive impairments, from MCI of vascular origin to vascular dementia. One of the available treatments for cognitive impairment is cytidine diphosphate-choline (CDP-Choline), or citicoline.

Background: Precision medicine in oncology aims to identify the most beneficial interventions based on a patient's individual features and disease. However, disparities exist when providing cancer care to patients based on an individual's sex.

Sequential oral antibiotic in uncomplicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia: a propensity-matched cohort analysis.

Objectives: We aimed to analyse the efficacy and safety of oral sequential therapy (OST) in uncomplicated Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia (SAB).

Methods: Single-centre observational cohort at a tertiary hospital in Spain, including all patients with the first SAB episode from January 2015 to December 2020. We excluded patients with complicated SAB and those who died during the first week.

Introduction: The percentage of patients diagnosed with pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma (altogether PPGL) carrying known germline mutations in one of the over fifteen susceptibility genes identified to date has dramatically increased during the last two decades, accounting for up to 35-40% of PPGL patients. Moreover, the application of NGS to the diagnosis of PPGL detects unexpected co-occurrences of pathogenic allelic variants in different susceptibility genes.

Methods: Herein we uncover several cases with dual mutations in NF1 and other PPGL genes by targeted sequencing.

Purpose: The EuroPedHp-registry aims to monitor guideline-conform management, antibiotic resistance, and eradication success of 2-week triple therapy tailored to antibiotic susceptibility (TTT) in Helicobacter pylori-infected children.

Methods: From 2017 to 2020, 30 centres from 17 European countries reported anonymized demographic, clinical, antibiotic susceptibility, treatment, and follow-up data. Multivariable logistic regression identified factors associated with treatment failure.

Pediatric endoscopy training across Europe: a survey of the ESPGHAN National Societies Network 2016-2019.

The ability to perform endoscopy procedures safely and effectively is a key aspect of quality clinical care in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (PGHN). The aim of this survey, which was part of a global survey on PGHN training in Europe, was to assess endoscopy training opportunities provided across Europe. Responses to standardized questions related to endoscopy training were collected from training centers across Europe through the presidents/representatives of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition National Societies from June 2016 to December 2019.

Effect of Duration of Anticoagulation in the Incidence of Stroke in Patients With Left-Ventricular Thrombus.

The optimal duration of anticoagulation in patients with left-ventricular thrombus (LVT) is unclear. In the present study, we aimed to analyze the effect of treatment duration (≤12 months [short-term anticoagulation, (STA)] versus >12 months [long-term anticoagulation, (LTA)]) in the incidence of stroke and other secondary outcomes (acute myocardial infarction, bleeding, and mortality). Multivariate Cox regression was used to determine the association between treatment duration and stroke, adjusted for baseline embolic risk.

Extraction of a fractured pacemaker lead in the left bundle branch area using a snare via a femoral approach.

We present the first reported case of extraction of a ventricular lead placed in the left bundle branch area with a double-loop design snare via the femoral approach without any complication. It was a 4-month-old lead whose extraction was not possible only with a conventional stylet via an implant vein approach, so we want to show that complete procedural success is possible.

Response to local corticosteroid injections in carpal tunnel syndrome with normal conduction studies.

Introduction: Nerve conduction studies (NCS) have been considered as the gold standard in carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) diagnosis, despite correlation between clinical symptomatology and NCS severity has shown to be poor. In fact, clinical symptoms precede NCS changes in months or years. Few papers have been published about the clinical response to treatment of clinically typical CTS, but with normal NCS (NNCS).

Perampanel as adjuvant treatment in epileptic encephalopathies: A multicenter study in routine clinical practice.

Objective: Developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs) are a heterogeneous group of syndromes, including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which are refractory to multiple therapies. Perampanel efficacy has been reported in LGS but further real-world evidence is needed in DEEs.

Methods: A multicenter, retrospective, 1-year observational study in patients with DEEs on adjuvant perampanel treatment was conducted to assess perampanel safety and effectiveness in this type of patients in a real-world setting.

Purpose: There is growing evidence regarding the imaging findings of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in lung ultrasound (LUS), however the use of a combined prognostic and triage tool has yet to be explored.To determine the impact of the LUS in the prediction of the mortality of patients with highly suspected or confirmed COVID-19.The secondary outcome was to calculate a score with LUS findings with other variables to predict hospital admission and emergency department (ED) discharge.
