Visceral Artery Aneurysms Embolization and Other Interventional Options: State of the Art and New Perspectives.

Visceral artery aneurysms (VAAs) are rare, usually asymptomatic and incidentally discovered during a routine radiological examination. Shared guidelines suggest their treatment in the following conditions: VAAs with diameter larger than 2 cm, or 3 times exceeding the target artery; VAAs with a progressive growth of at least 0.5 cm per year; symptomatic or ruptured VAAs.

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has emerged as an accurate diagnostic technique for the evaluation of patients with cardiac disease in the majority of clinical settings, thanks to an established additional diagnostic and prognostic value. This document has been developed by a joined group of experts of the Italian Society of Cardiology (SIC) and Italian Society of Radiology (SIRM) to provide a summary about the current state of technology and clinical applications of CMR, to improve the clinical diagnostic pathways and to promote its inclusion in clinical practice. The writing committee consisted of members and experts of both societies in order to develop a more integrated approach in the field of cardiac imaging.

Antimicrobial Susceptibility Patterns and Resistance Trends of and Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci Strains Isolated from Ocular Infections.

Ocular bacterial infections represent a serious problem that affecting people of all age and genders. These infections can lead to visual impairment and blindness if not properly treated. The current study evaluates the antimicrobial resistance profiles and the resistance trend of both () and coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS), the main pathogens involved in eye infections.

Rethinking Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a devastating disease for patients and their loved ones. Since initial efforts to characterize this disease in the 1960s, understanding of IPF has evolved considerably. Such evolution has continually challenged prior diagnostic and treatment paradigms, ushering in an era of higher confidence diagnoses with less invasive procedures and more effective treatments.

Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Management of Ureteral Iatrogenic Leakage after Gynecologic Surgery.

Objective: To report safety and efficacy of interventional radiology procedures in the treatment of gynecologic iatrogenic urinary leaks.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of iatrogenic ureteral lesions treated between November 2009 to April 2019 was performed. Under ultrasound (US) and fluoroscopy guidance, an attempt to place a ureteral stent and nephrostomy was carried out in the same session using an anterograde percutaneous approach.

Assessment of morphological CT imaging features for the prediction of risk stratification, mutations, and prognosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors.

Objectives: To investigate the correlation between CT imaging features and risk stratification of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), prediction of mutation status, and prognosis.

Methods: This retrospective dual-institution study included patients with pathologically proven GISTs meeting the following criteria: (i) preoperative contrast-enhanced CT performed between 2008 and 2019; (ii) no treatments before imaging; (iii) available pathological analysis. Tumor risk stratification was determined according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) 2008 criteria.

Clinically Suspected Segmental Arterial Mediolysis of the Splanchnic Arteries: A Report of 2 Rare Cases.

BACKGROUND Segmental arterial mediolysis (SAM) is an uncommon vascular pathology characterized by arteriopathy, mainly of medium-sized abdominal splanchnic vessels, without an atherosclerotic, inflammatory, infectious, or autoimmune underlying etiology. Segmental arterial mediolysis is clinically heterogeneous and symptoms may be completely nonspecific. The knowledge of radiological features of segmental arterial mediolysis and the exclusion of other pathologies should direct early diagnosis and refer patients for correct treatment.

Endothelial Cell Density After XEN Implant Surgery: Short-term Data From the Italian XEN Glaucoma Treatment Registry (XEN-GTR).

Precis: XEN implant was associated with low endothelial cell density (ECD) reduction. In fact, when combined with phacoemulsification, the reduction in ECD was similar to that expected after phacoemulsification alone.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of XEN implant, either alone or in combination with phacoemulsification, on ECD.

Daratumumab as Single Agent in Relapsed/Refractory Myeloma Patients: A Retrospective Real-Life Survey.

Background: The anti-CD38 monoclonal antibody daratumumab is approved as a single agent for the treatment of patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) who received at least three prior lines of therapy, including proteasome inhibitor and immunomodulatory agent. A retrospective multicentric study was designed to evaluate feasibility, tolerability, and efficacy of daratumumab in monotherapy in RRMM.

Methods: This study included 44 consecutive RRMM patients that underwent daratumumab monotherapy after a median number of four prior therapies (range 2-9).

Effect of COVID-19-related lockdown on ophthalmic practice in Italy: A report from 39 institutional centers.

Background/objectives: To compare the number of eye surgical procedures performed in Italy in the 2 months following the beginning of lockdown (study period) because of COVID-19 epidemic with those performed in the two earlier months of the same year (intra-year control) and in the period of 2019 corresponding to the lockdown (inter-year control).

Methods: Retrospective analysis of surgical procedures carried out at 39 Academic hospitals. A distinction was made between elective and urgent procedures.

Dynamic and Static Splinting for Treatment of Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip: A Systematic Review.

Background: Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is one of the most common pediatric conditions. The current gold-standard treatment for children under six months of age with a reducible hip is bracing, but the orthopedic literature features several splint options, and each one has many advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this review is to analyze the available literature to document the up-to-date evidence on DDH conservative treatment.

Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.

Pelvic congestion syndrome (PCS) is often an underdiagnosed cause of chronic pelvic pain in female patients with radiology detection of gonadal vein dilatation and parauterine varices. It may occur either alone or in combination with vulvar varicosities and/or lower extremity venous insufficiency. Although transcatheter venography represent the gold standard for PCS diagnosis, it is performed after inconclusive noninvasive imaging such as Doppler Ultrasound, CT scan, and MRI.

Reasons for initiating long-acting antipsychotics in psychiatric practice: findings from the STAR Network Depot Study.

Background: Long acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics have been claimed to ensure treatment adherence and possibly reduce the daily burden of oral formulations. So far, only surveys investigating the theoretical prescribing attitudes of clinicians have been employed. On this basis, we aimed to investigate reasons for prescribing LAIs in a real-world, unselected sample of patients.

Endovascular treatment of a rare case of haemobilia caused by both pseudoaneurysm and a giant hepatic haemangioma.

Haemobilia is defined as bleeding from the biliary system due to abnormal communication between a blood vessel and the bile ducts. Melena or hematemesis, abdominal pain and jaundice represent the pathognomonic triad for haemobilia, but clinical presentation and aetiology of this entity are extremely variable. We report a case of a 50-year-old man with melena and anaemia and a clinical history of multivalvular endocarditis in which an extremely rare presence of 2 uncommon causes of haemobilia was found, such as a mycotic pseudoaneurysm and a giant hepatic haemangioma, both treated by transarterial embolization.

Enrichment and Correlation Analysis of Serum miRNAs in Comorbidity Between Arnold-Chiari and Tourette Syndrome Contribute to Clarify Their Molecular Bases.

Due to its rarity, coupled to a multifactorial and very heterogeneous nature, the molecular etiology of Arnold-Chiari (AC) syndrome remains almost totally unknown. Its relationship with other neuropsychiatric disorders such as Tourette syndrome (TS) is also undetermined. The rare comorbid status between both disorders (ACTS) complicates the framework of diagnosis and negatively affects the patients' quality of life.

Neuroanatomical changes in early Parkinson's disease with mild cognitive impairment: a VBM study; the Parkinson's Disease Cognitive Impairment Study (PaCoS).

Introduction: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is common in Parkinson's disease (PD), but the underlying pathological mechanism has not been fully understood. Voxel-based morphometry could be used to evaluate regional atrophy and its relationship with cognitive performances in early PD-MCI.

Patients And Methods: One hundred and six patients with PD were recruited from a larger cohort of patients, the Parkinson's Disease Cognitive Impairment Study (PaCoS).

Seizures in the neonate: A review of etiologies and outcomes.

Neonatal seizures occur in their majority in close temporal relation to an acute brain injury or systemic insult, and are accordingly defined as acute symptomatic or provoked seizures. However less frequently, unprovoked seizures may also present in the neonatal period as secondary to structural brain abnormalities, thus corresponding to structural epilepsies, or to genetic conditions, thus corresponding to genetic epilepsies. Unprovoked neonatal seizures should be thus considered as the clinical manifestation of early onset structural or genetic epilepsies that often have the characteristics of early onset epileptic encephalopathies.

Diagnosis and treatment of flexible flatfoot: results of 2019 flexible flatfoot survey from the European Paediatric Orthopedic Society.

The aim of the study was to evaluate flexible flatfoot (FFF) diagnostic and current therapeutic modalities, as well as treatment expectations, among members of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society (EPOS). A 59-questions survey on FFF diagnosis and treatment preferences was distributed to EPOS members. The survey consisted of six sections (1) general clinical parameters; (2) foot aspects; (3) X-ray angles (or lines); (4) expectations; (5) standard clinical assessment; and (6) management options.

Proximal and distal radial artery approaches for endovascular percutaneous procedures: anatomical suitability by ultrasound evaluation.

Purpose: To describe the variability of the radial artery (RA) diameters at 2 levels, proximal (pRA), within 2 cm to the styloid process, and distal (dRA) at the snuff box, both eligible accesses for percutaneous approach, and to correlate these diameters with population features.

Methods: A total of 700 patients (377 females, 323 males) have been enrolled from July 2018 to March 2019. The diameters of left and right RA were measured using ultrasound (US) examination.

Mutations in the contactin-associated protein-like 2 () gene (MIM#604569) encoding for CASPR2, a cell adhesion protein of the neurexin family, are known to be associated with autism, intellectual disability, and other neuropsychiatric disorders. A set of intronic deletions of gene has also been suggested to have a causative role in individuals with a wide phenotypic spectrum, including Pitt-Hopkins syndrome, cortical dysplasia-focal epilepsy syndrome, Tourette syndrome, language dysfunction, and abnormal behavioral manifestations. A 10-years-old boy was referred to the hospital with mild intellectual disability and language impairment.
