Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder: CT Findings and Radiomics Signature.

: We present a case series of Neuroendocrine Carcinoma of the Urinary Bladder (NECB) to analyse their radiologic appearance on CT, find a "Radiomic signature", and review the current literature. : 14 CT cases of NECB were reviewed and compared with a control group of 42 patients with high-grade non-neuroendocrine bladder neoplasm for the following parameters: ring enhancement; implantation site; dimensions; density; margins; central necrosis; calcifications; number of lesions; wall thickness; depth of invasion in the soft tissue; invasion of fat tissue; invasion of adjacent organs; lymph-node involvement; abdominal organ metastasis. To extract radiomic features, volumes of interest of bladder lesions were manually delineated on the portal-venous phase.

Effectiveness and safety of XEN45 implant over 12 months of follow-up: data from the XEN-Glaucoma Treatment Registry.

Objectives: To evaluate the 1-year effectiveness and safety of the XEN45, either alone or in combination with phacoemulsification, in glaucoma patients.

Methods: This multicentre, prospective, observational study included consecutive eyes of glaucoma patients from the Italian XEN-Glaucoma Treatment Registry (XEN-GTR) who underwent XEN45 alone or in combination with phacoemulsification, with at least 1 year of follow-up. Surgical success was defined as intraocular pressure (IOP) < 18 mmHg and ≥20% reduction from preoperative IOP, over 1 year of follow-up.

Case report: Incidence and prognostic value of brain MRI lesions and elevated cerebrospinal fluid protein in children with Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Background: Guillain-Barrè syndrome (GBS) is an acute immune-mediated disorder affecting peripheral nerves and nerve roots with a variable clinical course and outcome. Epidemiologic analyses have revealed that the incidence of the syndrome increases linearly among the age. The clinical diagnosis of GBS is based on the family history, physical and neurological examination, electrodiagnostic exams, and cerebrospinal fluid analysis with the classical presence of albumin-cytologic dissociation.

Interventional Radiological Management and Prevention of Complications after Pancreatic Surgery: Drainage, Embolization and Islet Auto-Transplantation.

Pancreatic surgery still remains burdened by high levels of morbidity and mortality with a relevant incidence of complications, even in high volume centers. This review highlights the interventional radiological management of complications after pancreatic surgery. The current literature regarding the percutaneous drainage of fluid collections due to pancreatic fistulas, percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage due to biliary leaks and transcatheter embolization (or stent-graft) due to arterial bleeding is analyzed.

Endovascular treatment of cesarean scar pregnancy: a retrospective multicentric study.

Purpose: To assess the role of Uterine Artery Embolization (UAE) to treat cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP) using different embolic materials, focusing on its clinical and technical success rates; the association of UAE with methotrexate (MTX) and/or dilatation & curettage (D&C) was evaluated also.

Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis 33 patients (mean age 35 years) affected by CSP and treated with UAE from March 2012 to 2020 was performed. Dynamic levels of serum β-HCG have been collected until they decreased to normal values after procedures.

Isolated radial tears of the lateral meniscus midbody: a case series of professional athletes treated with outside-in repair.

Purpose: The main aim of the study is to assess clinical and functional outcomes of arthroscopic outside-in repair of isolated radial tears of the midbody of lateral meniscus in professional athletes and to evaluate the return to the sport activity after surgery.

Methods: A retrospective data collection on professional athletes with isolated complete lesion of the midbody of lateral meniscus, treated with arthroscopic outside-in repair was carried out. Outcome measures included functional assessment, Limb Symmetry Index (LSI) and Hamstring Quadriceps Ratio (HQR) and Lysholm score collected before surgery and at 4-month follow-up.

A Long Term Recurrent Case of Acute Retinal Pigment Epithelitis.

Purpose: To describe the case of a young adult who developed two episodes of Acute Retinal Pigment Epithelitis (ARPE) in the same eye 7 years apart, describing retinal morphologic changes using SD-OCT scan.

Observations: ARPE is an acute, self-limiting macular disorder characterized by a stippled dark macular lesion surrounded by a hypopigmented halo under fundus examination, corresponding to a foveal disruption of the outer retinal layers and an hyperreflective lesion under SD-OCT scan. Despite ARPE lesions usually appearing to be situated within the macula, a diffuse involvement of the RPE has been suggested.

Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound Compared with MRI and CT in the Evaluation of Post-Renal Transplant Complications.

Renal transplantation (RT) is the treatment of choice for end-stage renal disease, significantly improving patients' survival and quality of life. However, approximately 3-23% of patients encounter post-operative complications, and radiology plays a major role for their early detection and treatment or follow-up planning. CT and MRI are excellent imaging modalities to evaluate renal transplant post-operative course; nevertheless, they are both associated with a high cost and low accessibility, as well as some contraindications, making them not feasible for all patients.

Current trends in the treatment of supracondylar fractures of the humerus in children: Results of a survey of the members of European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the current trends in the treatment of supracondylar humerus fractures as well as the preferred post-operative follow-up protocol among members of the European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society.

Methods: The survey was composed by four main domains and 26 items: (1) surgeon information (3 items); (2) treatment (8 items); (3) post-operative treatment (3 items); and (4) factors influencing the outcome (12 items). All active members of European Paediatric Orthopaedic Society were invited by email to answer an electronic questionnaire.

Rescue of renal function after endovascular revascularization of acute aorto-renal bypass occlusion in a patient with solitary kidney: a case report.

Renal artery occlusion represents an early diagnostic urgency to prevent kidney injury or, even more grave, kidney failure. However, diagnosis is often a challenge due to nonspecific and sporadic symptoms and signs, resulting in misdiagnosis, missed, or delayed diagnosis. The patient ought to be evaluated by a multidisciplinary team to select the best treatment.

A group resilience training program for people with multiple sclerosis: Study protocol of a multi-centre cluster-randomized controlled trial (multi-READY for MS).

Introduction: REsilience and Activities for every DaY (READY) is an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy-based group resilience-training program that has preliminary empirical support in promoting quality of life and other psychosocial outcomes in people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS). Consistent with the Medical Research Council framework for developing and evaluating complex interventions, we conducted a pilot randomized controlled trial (RCT), followed by a phase III RCT. Gangliocytic paraganglioma leading to duodeno-jejunal intussusception: A case report.

The intussusception of the small bowel is rarely encountered in adult patients and is frequently associated with a lead point that is often malignant. In a 69-year-old female patient with an episode of gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding, computed tomography (CT) showed a duodenal-jejunal intussusception caused by an intraluminal mass. Open polypectomy and reduction of intussusception were performed and the diagnosis of gangliocytic paraganglioma was made at pathological evaluation.

Lung Segmentation on High-Resolution Computerized Tomography Images Using Deep Learning: A Preliminary Step for Radiomics Studies.

Background: The aim of this work is to identify an automatic, accurate, and fast deep learning segmentation approach, applied to the parenchyma, using a very small dataset of high-resolution computed tomography images of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. In this way, we aim to enhance the methodology performed by healthcare operators in radiomics studies where operator-independent segmentation methods must be used to correctly identify the target and, consequently, the texture-based prediction model.

Methods: Two deep learning models were investigated: (i) U-Net, already used in many biomedical image segmentation tasks, and (ii) E-Net, used for image segmentation tasks in self-driving cars, where hardware availability is limited and accurate segmentation is critical for user safety.

Objectives: Quantitative computed tomography (QCT) is a promising tool for objective assessment of interstitial lung disease (ILD) related to connective tissue diseases (CTD). However, its validity was never investigated. The aim of this study was to assess QCT feasibility, face, and content validity evaluation concerning CTD-ILD.

Stenting of the superior vena cava and right pulmonary artery in a woman with a mediastinal mass and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

We report the case of a woman with a mass in the anterior and middle mediastinum (a non-small-cell lung carcinoma), determining significant compression of both superior vena cava and right pulmonary artery. The patient developed acute respiratory distress syndrome , necessitating intubation and admission to the Intensive Care Unit . Radiotherapy sessions to reduce the mass effect were attempted, without significant clinical improvement.
