Introduction: Although a broadband acoustic click is physically the shortest duration sound we can hear, its peripheral neural representation is not as short because of cochlear filtering. The traveling wave imposes frequency-dependent delays to the sound waveform so that in response to a click, apical nerve fibers, coding for low frequencies, are excited several milliseconds after basal fibers, coding for high frequencies. Nevertheless, a click sounds like a click and these across-fiber delays are not perceived.

Background: "Biopsy-only" glioblastoma (BO-GBM) is a heterogeneous, understudied group of patients associated with a poor outcome. Our objective was to explore the pattern of care and prognosis associated with BO-GBM in our center.
Methods: Patients with wild-type BO-GBM included in a prospective regional cohort initiated in 2014 and closed in 2017 were retrospectively reviewed for patient characteristics, MRI findings, treatment allocation, and delivery.

Background: Oil massage versus only massage can increase preterm newborn development, especially weight gain, via a supposed percutaneous absorption of oil lipids, but data are contradictory. Aims: Investigating whether massage with a vegetable oil balanced in essential fatty acids improves neonatal weight gain, and digestive autonomy as proxy for neuro-development outcomes. Methods: A prospective monocentric randomized study was conducted in very premature newborns who received massage with oil (isio4 10 mL/kg/day, n = 18) versus with no oil (n = 18) for five consecutive days (10-min session twice daily) at a corrected gestational age of 34−35 weeks.

Patients with advanced prostate cancer (APC) may be at greater risk for severe illness, hospitalisation, or death from coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to male gender, older age, potential immunosuppressive treatments, or comorbidities. Thus, the optimal management of APC patients during the COVID-19 pandemic is complex. In October 2021, during the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC) 2021, the 73 voting members of the panel members discussed and voted on 13 questions on this topic that could help clinicians make treatment choices during the pandemic.

Background: Innovations in treatments, imaging and molecular characterisation have improved outcomes for people with advanced prostate cancer; however, many aspects of clinical management are devoid of high-level evidence. At the Advanced Prostate Cancer Consensus Conference (APCCC) 2019, many of these topics were addressed, and consensus was not always reached. The results from clinical trials will most reliably plus the gaps.

Background: The aim of this study was to assess the performance of our augmented reality (AR) software (Hepataug) during laparoscopic resection of liver tumours and compare it to standard ultrasonography (US).
Materials And Methods: Ninety pseudo-tumours ranging from 10 to 20 mm were created in sheep cadaveric livers by injection of alginate. CT-scans were then performed and 3D models reconstructed using a medical image segmentation software (MITK).

Background: Encouraging recent reports on endovascular treatment of common femoral artery (CFA) atherosclerotic disease has rendered the question regarding the place of this technique evermore pertinent and legitimizes the performance of randomized trials. The present comprehensive review focused on the early and midterm outcomes to help assess the benefit/risk balance of endovascular vs open repair for CFA treatment.
Methods: Embase and Medline searches were conducted according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analyses) standards to identify studies from 2000 to 2018 reporting on endovascular repair (ER), open surgery (OS), and comparisons of both techniques for CFA atherosclerosis treatment.

Objective: The persistent sciatic artery (PSA) is a rare congenital anomaly with a high rate of aneurysm formation, occlusion and stenosis. It may lead to severe complications including thrombosis, distal embolisation, or aneurysm rupture. We reported herein our experience in the management of PSA and its complications, and discuss the therapeutic options.

Purpose: Advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer (PC) have rapidly progressed through the past years. Various factors should be taken into account while treating individual patients to ensure optimal and careful decision making. The purpose of this consensus review is to summarize the current practice patterns when managing patients with advanced prostate cancer (APC) as there is still a lack of or very limited evidence on its clinical management in some areas.

Background Color-duplex ultrasonography (DUS) could be an alternative to computed tomography-aortography (CTA) in the lifelong surveillance of patients after endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), but there is currently no level 1 evidence. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of DUS as an alternative to CTA for the follow-up of post-EVAR patients. Methods Between December 16, 2010, and June 12, 2015, we conducted a prospective, blinded, diagnostic-accuracy study, in 15 French university hospitals where EVAR was commonly performed.

Background & Aims: Sorafenib is the standard of care for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Combining sorafenib with another treatment, to improve overall survival (OS) within an acceptable safety profile, might be the next step forward in the management of patients with advanced HCC. We aimed to assess whether a combination of sorafenib and a statin improved survival in patients with HCC.

Purpose: To assess the safety of the association of radiotherapy (RT) and systemic treatments for patients with metastatic malignant melanoma (mMM).
Methods: A retrospective analysis included consecutive patients treated with palliative RT, and at least one line of systemic therapy for mMM between 2001 and 2016. Treatments were defined as sequential or concomitant when RT and the systemic drug were administered, respectively, at more or less than five half-lives from each other.

An ancillary analysis to the SepsiCoag multicentric prospective observational study on patients entering an intensive care unit with septic shock evaluated the prognostic potential of fibrin generation markers (FGMs) tested at inclusion in the study, on survival at day 30. After centralization of samples, three automated FGMs were compared: D-dimers (DDi), fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products (FDP) and fibrin monomers (FM). FM was the single FGM that was significantly higher in non-surviving patients, area under the receiver-operator characteristic curve (AUC ): 0·617, P < 0·0001.
