Article Synopsis
  • Advancements in cardiac imaging, particularly strain imaging (SI), enhance our understanding of heart function beyond traditional ejection fraction (EF).
  • A retrospective study analyzed patients undergoing cardiac MRI (CMR) to compare global circumferential strain (GCS) and global longitudinal strain (GLS) with EF, revealing a strong correlation but noting that GCS measurements were not interchangeable between short-axis (SAX) and long-axis (LAX) views.
  • The findings suggest that integrating SI into EF calculations could improve our grasp of cardiac mechanics, supporting the need for more comprehensive evaluation methods.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy relies on T cells engineered to target specific tumor antigens such as CD-19 in B-cell malignancies. In this setting, the commercially available products have offered a potential long-term cure for both pediatric and adult patients. Yet manufacturing CAR T cells is a cumbersome, multistep process, the success of which strictly depends on the characteristics of the starting material, i.

Background: The regulation of the chromatin state by epigenetic mechanisms plays a central role in gene expression, cell function, and maintenance of cell identity. Hereditary disorders of chromatin regulation are a group of conditions caused by abnormalities of the various components of the epigenetic machinery, namely writers, erasers, readers, and chromatin remodelers. Although neurological dysfunction is almost ubiquitous in these disorders, the constellation of additional features characterizing many of these genes and the emerging clinical overlap among them indicate the existence of a community of syndromes.
