Background: In mesothelioma (MPM), clinical evidence indicates that the absolute eosinophil count negatively correlates with overall survival and response to standard chemotherapy. Since eosinophils poorly infiltrate MPM tumours, we hypothesised that endocrine rather than paracrine pathways mediate the therapeutic response. We thus studied the effect of eosinophil-associated factors on response to chemotherapy in mesothelioma.

The protein tyrosine kinase-7 (PTK7) is an evolutionarily conserved transmembrane receptor that has emerged as a potential therapeutic target for human tumors. PTK7 is a pseudokinase that is involved in the modulation of the Wnt signaling pathway through interactions with other receptors. These interactions result in targeted gene activation that regulates cell polarity, migration, and proliferation during embryogenesis.

Introduction: The growing prevalence and lack of effective pain therapies for knee osteoarthritis (KOA) results in a substantial unmet need for novel analgesic therapies. The transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 (TRPV1) receptor is expressed in subsets of nociceptive sensory neurons and has major roles in pain transmission and regulation. In the structures of the knee joint, nociceptors are present in abundance.

Positive end-expiratory pressure results in a sustained positive intrathoracic pressure, which exerts pressure on intrathoracic vessels, resulting in cardiopulmonary interactions. This sustained positive intrathoracic pressure is known to decrease cardiac preload, and thus, decrease venous return, ultimately reducing both the stroke volume and stressed blood volume of the cardiovascular system. Currently, cardiovascular and pulmonary care are provided independently of one another.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is a dreadful brain tumor, with a particular relationship to the adult subventricular zone (SVZ) that has been described as relevant to disease initiation, progression, and recurrence.
Methods: We propose a novel strategy for the detection and tracking of xenografted GBM cells that are located in the SVZ, based on an intracerebroventricular (icv) recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV)-mediated color conversion method. We used different patient-derived GBM stem-like cells (GSCs), which we transduced first with a retroviral vector (LRLG) that included a lox-dsRed-STOP-lox cassette, upstream of the eGFP gene, then with rAAVs expressing the Cre-recombinase.

Despite the growing evidence supporting the existence of CNS involvement in acute and chronic graft-versus-host disease (CNS-GvHD), the characteristics and course of the disease are still largely unknown. In this multicenter retrospective study, we analyzed the clinical, biological, radiological, and histopathological characteristics, as well as the clinical course of 66 patients diagnosed with possible CNS-GvHD (pCNS-GvHD), selected by predetermined diagnostic criteria. Results were then contrasted depending on whether pCNS-GvHD occurred before or after day 100 following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Circadian rhythms are inherent to living organisms from single cells to humans and operate on a genetically determined cycle of approximately 24 hours. These endogenous rhythms are aligned with the external light/dark cycle of the Earth's rotation and offer the advantage of anticipating environmental changes. Circadian rhythms act directly on human cognition and indirectly through their fundamental influence on sleep/wake cycles.

Objective: This longitudinal pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility, safety and potential benefits of Platelet-Rich Plasma injections into the lumbar intervertebral discs in patients with low back pain and degenerative intervertebral monodiscopathy, assessing potential efficacy on disability.
Design: Longitudinal pilot study.
Methods: Six participants with chronic low back pain and lumbar degenerative intervertebral disc (monodiscopathy) disease underwent 1 Platelet-Rich Plasma injection, with a 1-year follow-up.

Introduction: Salivary carcinomas of the tongue represent a therapeutic challenge as their radical excision is particularly mutilating. We aimed to study the oncologic and functional outcomes of advanced stages salivary carcinomas of the tongue.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective multicentric study, based on the French national network on rare head and neck cancers (REFCOR), included all patients with a T3-T4 salivary carcinoma of the tongue, diagnosed between January 2009 and December 2018.

Background: Convalescent plasma (CP) reduced the mortality in COVID-19 induced ARDS (C-ARDS) patients treated in the CONFIDENT trial. As patients are immunologically heterogeneous, we hypothesized that clusters may differ in their treatment responses to CP.
Methods: We measured 20 cytokines, chemokines and cell adhesion markers using a multiplex technique at the time of inclusion in the CONFIDENT trial in patients of centers having accepted to participate in this secondary study.

Introduction: Primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1) is known for its variable clinical course, even within families. However, the extent of this heterogeneity has not been well-studied. We aimed to analyze intrafamilial clinical heterogeneity and disease course among siblings in a large cohort of familial PH1 cases.

Background: Mucociliary clearance (MCC) impairment can be due to mucus abnormalities or to a ciliary dysfunction, which can be innate, or secondary to infection and/or inflammation. In cystic fibrosis (CF), it is well documented that MCC is impaired due to mucus abnormalities, but little is known concerning ciliary beating. This study aimed to confirm that ciliary dyskinesia is present in CF, and if this might be innate or secondary to the chronic infection and/or inflammation.

The diagnosis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is significant at any stage, however an early diagnosis in a presymptomatic or very early phase of DMD, offers unique opportunities and challenges for families and health care providers. Currently, there is limited evidence as to the optimal models of care during this stage of the condition..

Objective: The objective of this study was to characterize exclusive costal lesions detected by 68 Gallium-labelled prostate-specific membrane antigen ([ 68 Ga]Ga-PSMA-11) PET/computed tomography (CT) at initial staging or biochemical recurrence (BCR) in prostate cancer (PCa) patients, and to identify clinical and/or PET/CT criteria associated with benign and malignant lesions.
Methods: We retrospectively identified 54 patients with PCa who underwent [ 68 Ga]Ga-PSMA-11 PET/CT for initial staging ( N = 39) or BCR ( N = 15) and whose reports described rib lesions, at the exclusion of any other lesions, whether doubtful, suspicious, or established. Posttherapy prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels were used to determine whether those lesions were benign or malignant.

Background: Peripheral nodal B-cell lymphomas (PNBCL) represent the most common presentation of lymphomas in dogs. Multiagent CHOP (C = cyclophosphamide, H = hydroxydaunorubicin [Doxorubicin], O = Oncovin, P = prednisolone)-based chemotherapy protocols have been widely accepted as gold standard 1st-line treatment. CHOP-25 and CHOP-19 are most commonly prescribed but have never been directly compared.
