Background: Pediatric meningiomas (PMs) are rare central nervous system tumors, accounting for 1-5% of all meningiomas, and differ from adult meningiomas in clinical, histopathological, and molecular features. Current guidelines primarily focus on adults, leaving a gap in evidence-based management for PMs. This study presents the largest meta-analysis of longitudinal individual patient data (IPD) to date, addressing progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) in pediatric patients.

Introduction: The larynx organ preservation (LOP) trial DeLOS-II enrolled = 173 patients with advanced laryngeal/hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LHSCC) amenable (only curatively resectable) through total laryngectomy (TL) to receive induction chemotherapy (IC) with TPF [docetaxel (T), cisplatin (P), and 5-fluorouracil (F)] (arm A, 85 patients) or additional cetuximab (E) weekly (arm B, 88 patients). Responders with endoscopic estimated tumor surface shrinkage (ETSS) ≥30% after 1 cycle IC (IC-1) received a further two cycles of IC followed by radiotherapy (RT), whereas TL was recommended for non-responders. Arm B failed to show superior 24-month laryngectomy-free survival (LFS) and overall survival (OS), the protocol-specified primary and secondary endpoints.

Trauma causes the breakdown of membrane phospholipids and the subsequent degradation of the released polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) to partially bioactive oxylipins. Here, we screened for circulating PUFAs and oxylipins in patients (n = 34) differing from those of uninjured controls (n = 25) and analyzed their diagnostic potential. Patients were followed up for 1 to 240 h after minor/moderate, severe, and very severe injuries.

Primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma (PMBCL) is a rare form of aggressive B-cell lymphoma with a predominant onset in young patients. The minimization of potential (late) side effects is of cardinal interest for these patients. An anticipation of the individual risk profile is desirable to counsel the patient on the putative impact of radiotherapy (RT).

Vulvar carcinoma is a rare disease, meeting the criteria for a "rare cancer", but its incidence is increasing, especially in women <60 years of age. Squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) accounts for the overwhelming majority of vulvar carcinomas and is the focus of this review. As with many cancers, the increased understanding of molecular events during tumorigenesis has led to the emergence of the molecular subclassification of VSCC, which is subclassified into tumors that arise secondary to high-risk human papillomavirus infection (HPV-associated, or HPVa) and those that arise independently of HPV (HPVi), most commonly in the setting of a chronic inflammatory condition of the vulvar skin.

Background: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) outcomes often rely on the expertise of individual vascular units, introducing potential subjectivity into disease staging. This retrospective, multicenter cohort study aimed to demonstrate the ability of artificial intelligence (AI) to provide disease staging based on inter-institutional expertise by predicting limb outcomes in post-interventional pedal angiograms of PAD patients, specifically in comparison to the inframalleolar modifier in the Global Limb Anatomic Staging System (IM GLASS).
Methods: We used computer vision (CV) based on the MobileNetV2 model, implemented via TensorFlow.

Diseases affecting adipose tissue (AT) function include obesity, lipodystrophy, and lipedema, among others. Both a lack of and excess AT are associated with increased risk for developing diseases including type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, and some types of cancer. However, individual risk of developing cardiometabolic and other 'obesity-related' diseases is not entirely determined by fat mass.

The Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathway is essential for maintaining homeostasis during embryogenesis and in adult tissues. In the liver, dysregulation of this pathway often leads to liver cancer development. Recent studies also suggest that disturbances in the Hh pathway can affect liver metabolism in healthy livers through interactions with other signaling pathways, such as the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.
