Epilepsy is a neurological disease with no defined cause, characterized by recurrent epileptic seizures. These occur due to the dysregulation of excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters in the central nervous system (CNS). Psychopharmaceuticals have undesirable side effects; many patients require more than one pharmacotherapy to control crises.

Background And Objective: Reduced functional capacity, dyspnea, fatigue, and changes in body composition are common in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS), and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation may improve these parameters. Thus, the present study verified the effects of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (respiratory, aerobic, and resistance muscle training) on submaximal exercise tolerance, dyspnea, fatigue, and body composition.
Methods: This controlled and randomized clinical trial applied a six-week outpatient intervention protocol in individuals over 18 years old (n = 33) with a diagnosis of COVID-19 confirmed by polymerase chain reaction.

This study assessed the efficacy of a pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) on pulmonary and respiratory muscle function and thickness of quadriceps femoris and diaphragm of patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. This series of cases followed nine patients who performed PR twice a week for six weeks. Patients received the following PR program: lung expansion therapy; respiratory muscle training; upper limb strength exercises; aerobic exercises on a treadmill.

Adult cervical spine traumatic facet joint dislocations occur when excessive traumatic forces displace the vertebrae's facets, leading to loss of joint congruence. Reduction requires either cranial traction or open surgical procedures. This study aims to appraise the effects of different surgical techniques in the treatment of subaxial cervical spine acute traumatic facet blocks in adults.

Atlas assimilation (AA) may be associated with atlantoaxial dislocation, Chiari malformation (CM), and basilar invagination. The importance of AA in the context of craniocervical junction (CVJ) anomalies is unclear. Considering this context, this study's objective is to discuss the role of AA in the management of CVJ anomalies, especially in CM.

Orthognathic surgery is a procedure that consists of correcting the abnormalities of the maxilla, mandible or both. Maxillary movements have a direct effect on the upper airways. For this reason, in the preoperative period, bone movements should be carefully analyzed and planned to avoid causing any damages to the airways.

Background: Anterior open bite (AOB) is noteworthy because it is a complex dysplasia, and clinical studies on this malocclusion are usually epidemiological studies or experimental models with small samples and no control group, which renders the data on AOB incomplete and therefore inconclusive. The objective this study was to assess the risk factors involved in developing AOB.
Materials And Methods: A case-control study was provided with a total of 96 lateral cephalometric radiographs of male and female patients aged between 8 and 14 years were used, regardless of facial type.

Background: To evaluate, , the effects of the cooling protocol, application technique, and veneering ceramic thickness on the fracture resistance of ceramic crowns with Y-TZP frameworks.
Material And Methods: 80 frameworks were made from zirconia by the CAD/CAM technique and divided into 8 groups (n = 10) according to the factors: "application technique" (stratified-L and pressed -P), "thickness" (1 mm and 2 mm), and "cooling protocol" (slow-S and fast-F) of the feldspathic veneering ceramic. After, all crowns were cemented over G10 preparations with resin cement (Panavia F, Kuraray), mechanically cycled (2x106 cycles, 200 N, 3Hz), and subjected to the axial compression resistance test (0.

One of the biggest challenges in clinical genetics is establishing associations between specific germline mutations and the resulting spectrum of phenotypes. The careful characterization of clinical presentations continues to be a tool for establishing these genotype phenotype correlations. The authors intend, by presenting a case study, proposing that the concomitant occurrence of a combinations of mild structural anomalies in the same individual may be due to changes in genes that can be linked by related pathways.

Purpose: Verifying whether the mutation in COMT rs4818 could be involved in pain modulation.
Methods: Thirty-two individuals born with cleft lip and palate that underwent bone graft from the iliac crest bone were assessed at 12, 24, 48, 72 h, and 7 days regarding their pain experience using a visual analogic scale. DNA from each participant was collected from saliva samples, and genotyping of rs4818 was performed using TaqMan chemistry.

Objective: The aim of this study was to use dental development as a tool to subphenotype oral clefts and investigate the association of with dentin-pulp complex anomalies, in order to identify dental anomalies that are a part of a "cleft syndrome."
Design: Two hundred and ninety individuals born with cleft lip and palate were evaluated and several clinical features, such as cleft completeness or incompleteness, laterality, and presence of dental anomalies were used to assess each individual's cleft status. We tested for overrepresentation of single nucleotide polymorphism rs9923304 alleles depending on individuals having certain dental anomalies.

Introduction: Ascitis and undernutrition are frequent complications of cirrhosis, however ascitis volume and anthropometric assessment are not routinely documented or considered in prognostic evaluation. In a homogeneous cohort followed during two years these variables were scrutinized, aiming to ascertain relevance for longterm outcome.
Methods: Population (N = 25, all males with alcoholic cirrhosis) was recruited among patients hospitalized for uncomplicated ascitis.
