Objectives: Diurnal variation of plasma glucose levels may contribute to diagnostic uncertainty. The permissible time interval, (), was proposed as a time-dependent characteristic to specify the time within which glucose levels from two consecutive samples are not biased by the time of blood collection. A major obstacle is the lack of population-specific data that reflect the diurnal course of a measurand.

Background: In light of increasing therapeutic options, risk stratification of advanced cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR-CA) is gaining clinical importance to avoid ineffective treatments. Liver stiffness as a marker of hypervolemia and hepatic congestion might predict mortality in advanced ATTR-CA and allow to identify patients at highest risk.
Methods: Proven ATTR-CA patients underwent repeated vibration-controlled transient elastography (VTCE) and standardized serial workup within the local amyloidosis cohort study AmyKoS.

Introduction: The possibility of balancing career and family is meanwhile a central concern for most physicians when choosing a job. The aim of this study was to identify current barriers and opportunities for physician education and career planning.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted as an online survey between 11/2021 and 02/2022 and targeted physicians at all career levels in Germany who were members of a clinical professional association.

Gastric carcinomas are among the most common cancers in Germany, with approximately 18,000 new cases per year. About 10 years ago, based on results of the Trastuzumab for gastric cancer (ToGA) trial, the addition of the monoclonal antibody trastuzumab to a platinum-fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy backbone became the standard-of-care 1st-line therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 ()-positive gastric cancers. Only patients with primary gene amplification benefit from this therapy.

Objective: Bio-Signals such as electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) are widely used for the rehabilitation of physically disabled people and for the characterization of cognitive impairments. Successful decoding of these bio-signals is however non-trivial because of the time-varying and non-stationary characteristics. Furthermore, existence of short- and long-range dependencies in these time-series signal makes the decoding even more challenging.

In the context of colorectal cancer (CRC), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is frequently used to monitor the minimal residual disease (MRD). ctDNA has become an excellent biomarker to predict which patients with CRC are likely to relapse due to the persistence of micrometastases. MRD diagnosis analysis of ctDNA may allow much earlier detection of relapse compared with conventional diagnosis during follow-up.

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) lacks effective treatment options beyond chemotherapy. Although molecular subtypes such as classical and QM (quasi-mesenchymal)/basal-like with transcriptome-based distinct signatures have been identified, deduced therapeutic strategies and targets remain elusive. Gene expression data show enrichment of glycolytic genes in the more aggressive and therapy-resistant QM subtype.

The human brain has been an object of extensive investigation in different fields. While several studies have focused on understanding the neural correlates of error processing, advances in brain-machine interface systems using non-invasive techniques further enabled the use of the measured signals in different applications. The possibility of detecting these error-related potentials (ErrPs) under different experimental setups on a single-trial basis has further increased interest in their integration in closed-loop settings to improve system performance, for example, by performing error correction.

Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) enable communication between humans and machines by translating brain activity into control commands. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals are one of the most used brain signals in non-invasive BCI applications but are often contaminated with noise. Therefore, it is possible that meaningful patterns for classifying EEG signals are deeply hidden.

Objectives: Histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate and University of Wisconsin solutions are currently used for pancreas graft preservation. Our hypothesis was whether the use of histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate solution is associated with worse pancreas graft survival than University of Wisconsin solution, in general and after prolonged cold ischemic time of ≥12 hours.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study investigated the impact of static cold storage in histidine-tryptophan-ketoglutarate (n = 133) versus University of Wisconsin (n = 107) solution on outcomes of 240 pancreas transplant procedures.

Treatment options for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) are limited. This particularly affects the largest group of patients with RAS mutations, who are considered ineligible for therapy with antiEGFR antibodies. In this liquid biopsy-based study, we performed the first in-depth analysis of the RAS mutational status in initially RAS-mutated patients during first-line therapy.

Background And Purpose: Post-ischaemic immune cell invasion into the brain is well characterized in animal stroke models and contributes to neuronal damage. Therefore, it represents a promising therapeutic target. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is easily accessible and may reflect cellular events within the parenchyma.
